Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out whether bingo Game can help students with pronunciation and can attract students’ interest in taking English classes. Related to the research objectives using pre-experimental research. The research population was class VIII students of SMP Negeri 26 Kabupaten Sorong. In collecting data, researchers used 30 Vocabulary for pre-test and post-test. In analyzing the data, researchers used SPSS 20 to calculate the data. After analyzing the T-Sample test results, the alternative hypothesis states that the Bingo Game media has an impact on the pronunciation and interest of students at SMP Negeri 26 Sorong Regency, especially students in class VIII and the Null hypothesis is rejected. Apart from that, the result of P-Value (.000) is smaller than P.Value (0.01), which means that students comprehension scores between pre-test and post-test are significantly different and it can be concluded that the bingo game has an impact on students pronunciation and interest at SMP Negeri 26 Kabupaten Sorong

Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out whether a cue card media given impact or not in reducing speaking anxiety at grade in MTs Az-Zikra Kota Sorong. Related to the objective of the researcher used pre-experimental qualitative research design. The design of this research is pre-experimental research. The population of this research was eighth grades students with total of the sample was 34 students, based on purposive sampling. In the collecting the data, the researcher used 32 items questionnaire for pre-test and posttest. In analyzed the data, the researcher used SPSS 20 program to calculation the data. The result of the research showed that, there is a difference in the scale between the before treatment and after treatment because T-value (6.258) > T-table (1.703) and P value (0.000) < ? (0,05). It also indicates that the H0 was rejected and Ha which said Cue card media give impact on the student speaking anxiety was accepted. It can be seen from the mean score from the pre-test questionnaire was 76,4 decreased on post-test questionnaire was 53,6. It can be concluded that cue card media can reduce the students’ speaking anxiety.

Abstract

This research was conducted in order to see the effect of the implementation of ice breaking to increase students motivation at 7th grade of MTs Yamueti Kokoda. In conducting this research, the rsearcher used pre-experimental design. The researcher used one class in this research. In the class researcher applied pretest and posttest. The sample are the students at 7th grade consisted of 11 students. The results of the research that used ice breaking technique that could be seen the value was lower than a value (0.00 < 0,05), it could seen p value (0,003) and the signifficant level (0,05), the value of fto tally (15,444) was more than ftable (4,96). This mean that an alternative hypotesis there is an influence the implementation of ice breaking on students motivation in english learning (H1) was accepted and, of course a null (H0) was rejected. In other words ice breaking gave the significant influence to the students motivation at 7th of MTs Yamueti Kokoda.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to describe whether or not fishbowl technique can improve students’ speaking of tenth grade of IPS 1 in SMA N 2 Sorong Regency. In this study, the researcher conducted the quantitative research using the method pre-experimental design type of the one group pre-test. Therefore, the researcher took 30 students as the sample from the population. The researcher used SPSS Analysis Version 20.0, the researcher gave the interpretation towards “t” score by comparing t-value with t-table. The researcher interpretation that t-value is 3.048 with the significance value is 0.05. The score of t-table is 2.045 with the significance level of 0.05 with df 29. P-value is 0.0005 < 0.05, it is known that t-value > t-table ( 3.048 > 2.045 ). Meanwhile, the alternative (H1) is accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. It means that using fishbowl technique can improve students speaking skill at the tenth of SMAN 2 Sorong Regency. But this technique is not effective towards students’ speaking skill, because it is not achieve score of KKM that is > 68.

Abstract

Writing skills is one type of language skills which should be controlled by the student. The students must be familiar with English especially to writing skill which write about their experience at the past time or to write recount text. For this reason, the researcher intended to investigate the students’ ability in constructing paragraph of recount text. The objective of this research is to measure students’ ability in constructing paragraphs and find out the causes of error made by the students. The design of this research is quantitative decriptive to measure students ability in constructing paragraphs at recount text. The population was students Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Model Sorong Grade XII. The technique of collecting data, the students were assigned to write the paragraphs in personal recount text based on their experiences in 60 minutes so the students decided the theme by themselves. The result of this research shows that 10 students score 43,4 % in good, then the students category of average was 9 students (39,1 %), and the students category of excellent was 4 students (17,1 %). The writer concluded that the students ability in constructing paragraph was average.

Abstract

This study aimed at knowing wether Team Games Tournament (TGT) is effective in students’ understanding on past tense or not. This study had conducted at Mts Roudhotul Khuffadz in second grade that focused on two classes VIIIa (as the control group) and VIIIB (as the experimental group) . The sample were fourthy students. The data were collected by using pre test and post test test. The form of the test was essay. After giving the pre-test, then the researcher giving the treatment and the steps in teaching learning proses were ;(1.) the teacher gave the explanation ;(2) the teacher devides the students become four groups ;(3) each group discuss the sheetwork that has given by the teacher ;(4) each group presentation their worksheet to be the winner ;(5) if the students in each group cannot answer the question or giving the wrong answer, it will be open the opportunity to the others group to answer. After giving the treatment, the researcher gave post test. The researcher was using Quantitative research and quasi experimental as the design. The data were analyzed by using T-test Formula. The result of the study indicate that Team Games Tournament (TGT) was effective to the students in understanding past tense. It shown from the result data, it showed that the result of post-test in experimental class(a class which is using Team Games Tournament “TGT” ) is higher than control class( a class which is given conventional method ). It can be seen from the mean score where 74,5 is higher than 70,55. The effectiveness of Team Games Tournament (TGT) is also proved from the result of T-test in which is 2,407 2.021. When was higher than , (Alternative Hypothesis) was accepted. The researcher conclude that Team Games Tournament (TGT) was effective in students understanding past tense.

Abstract

Learning writing is one of fourth skill of learning second language that must be mastered by students. For this reason the writers want to investigate and conduct the study in this field. The Statement of Problem “Is Picture Sequence effective towards students' ability in using conjunctionat the eight grade of MTs. Negeri Model Kota Sorong in the academic year 2016/2017?” the research design in this investigation is experimental research. The population of this study is students in MTs. Negeri Model Kota Sorong and has taken as sample were class VIII-G as a control group and VIII-D as the experimental group. In this study, the writer applies some steps for conducting the experiment, they were: observation, planning, treatment, and post-test. It was conducted in three meetings. To collect the data of this study, the writer using writingtest. Post-test was conducted to both of groups to see the differences between control and experimental groups and also to prove the writer’s hypothesis that picture sequences can give an impact to the students’ achievement instudents’ ability of using conjunction in writing. By using t-test formulation the writer gets value of t-observe 2.178 and the t-critical 0.05 is 2.021 It means that t-obs value is higher than the t-crit. In other word, it can be said that the alternative hypothesis ( H1) is accepted and null hypothesis (H0) is rejected, or it can be said that picture sequences as method that effective and applicable at the eighth grade of MTs. Negeri Model Kota Sorong towards students’ ability of using conjunction in writing narrative text.

Abstract

Learning simple present tense for student is to present something happen about the situation now, a feeling and to make an opinion. The researcher was investigating and doing the research. This study was to find out whether using Tic Tac Toe game is more effective than using conventional method to make students more understand in simple present tense at first grade students of SMP N.1 Kabupaten Sorong in academic year of 2016/2017. The samples were sixty students from two hundred and forty seven of the population, they are from first grade A as experiment group and first grade C as control group. The data were collected by pre-test and post test to both of classes. After give the pre-test, the researcher give treatment, the steps of the class activities are; (1)the implementation of the game is the teacher give the key word on the board; (2)the students makes a group to determine be (X) or (O) groups; (3)after that, the students group (X) or (O) will discuss together about the strategy to answer the key word and to win the game; (4)if the students group can not answer or make a wrong answer from the key word, the other groups will be given the chance to answer it. After treatment post test is given to both of groups. The researcher was using quantitative research and quasi experimental as the design. The result of this study showed that use game especially Tic Tac Toe game was effective in student understanding of simple present tense. It showed from the result of post-test in experiment group, that is higher than control class. It could be proved from the result of T-Test, which is ttest 4,598 ? ttable 2,000. It means the result ttest was higher than ttable so, is refused and is accepted. The researcher concluded that Tic Tac Toe game was effective on student understanding in simple present tense.

Abstract

The students at Senior High School are teenagers. They were easy to feel bored if teacher taught them by a conventional method. They love to learn everything by a fun way. In this case, the writer tries to improve their ability in mastery English vocabulary, which vocabulary is something important to be learnt. It is one element to sharp the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing all together. The writer takes a research about this case. This study is mainly aimed to identify the improvement of student's vocabulary mastery through Talking Stick for the tenth grade students of SMA NEGERI 2 KABUPATEN SORONG in the academic year of 2016/2017. This research is a classroom action research. The methods of collecting data are observation, interview, test instrument and field notes. Then, the writer analyzes them in descriptive and statistical technique. This study takes two cycles. After did two cycles, the writer get a result. Both in the cycle I and cycle II, score of post-test are higher than pre-test. Then, the percentage of students’ mastery also improve, while in the first cycle there were only 41% students who could pass the target score of the Minimal Mastery Level Criterion (KKM). In the second cycle, there were 72% students who could pass the target score. Then from the questioner respond, it seems that students interested in learning vocabulary through Talking Stick. These all results indicate that there was significant improvement of students’ vocabulary mastery through Talking Stick for the tenth grade students of SMA NEGERI 2 Kabupaten Sorong in the academic year of 2016 /2017.
