Abstract

AbstractThis research is a descriptive qualitative research that aims to describe students' relational thinking process in solving mathematics problems of polynomial function material based on the thought process stages of Mason's theory. The research data was harvested from written questions and interviews. The selection of research subjects used a maximal variation sampling strategy, namely by looking for samples of cases or individuals who had differences in terms of characteristics. The research results obtained are that there are three different characteristics of students in solving the given problems, namely by using the factor theorem, the remainder theorem, and the substitution and elimination methods. Students who use the factor theorem and the remainder theorem when solving problems carry out relational thinking activities in proposing their alleged solutions. Meanwhile, students who use the substitution and elimination methods when solving problems have not been able to think relationally. The conclusion obtained is that each student's relational thinking process in solving problem polynomial function problems is different from one another, the relational thinking process can also affect the results of the student's work.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of self-efficacy, learning motivation, and peers on student learning independence in elementary schools. The research method used was a survey and data analysis using regression techniques. The research sample consisted of fourth-grade students in two elementary schools, totaling 65 people. Data were collected through questionnaires that measured the level of self-efficacy, learning motivation, peers, and learning independence. The results showed that self-efficacy is positively and significantly related to the level of students' learning independence. The higher the level of students' self-efficacy, the higher the level of learning independence they show. In addition, learning motivation also has a positive influence on learning independence. Students who have high learning motivation tend to be more independent in overcoming their learning challenges. In addition to self-efficacy and learning motivation, peers also play an important role in students' learning independence. The results showed that supportive and positive peer relationships were associated with higher levels of learning independence. Based on these findings, efforts to improve students' learning independence can focus on strengthening self-efficacy and learning motivation, as well as creating an environment that supports positive relationships with peers.

Abstract

High Order Thinking Skills became the center of attention to achieve the goal, namely that students can think at a high level in any matter, one of which is by using learning models during the teaching and learning process. Therefore, this article discusses an overview of problem based learning and high order thinking skills (HOTS) learning models. This research applies the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method by collecting data through POP (Publish or Perish) and ERIC. resulting in an initial database of 18,724 articles from ERIC and 116 articles from Scopus. Then the data was filtered based on descriptors with the keyword "thinking skills," resulting in 2,176 articles. Next, data was filtered based on the education level of elementary school students, with a total of 230 articles. Next, the focus was narrowed to five articles for final analysis. Topics studied include education level, year of publication, and analysis results. The relationship between the problem-based learning model and student HOTS is not limited to exact subjects such as mathematics and science. Students are also trained to have high analytical skills in non-exact subjects such as social sciences (IPS), where they are expected to be able to understand large amounts of material effectively.

Abstract

The 21st century requires students who have critical thinking skills and high learning motivation. PISA survey data shows that Indonesian students' knowledge of thinking skills is still very low and has not reached the standard scores set by PISA. Based on observations and interviews in elementary schools, it was found that there is still a lack of use of learning models and approaches, and teachers do not provide alternative options for student learning access. So this research aims to examine the effectiveness of PjBL-STEM on students' critical thinking skills and learning motivation. The research design used in this research is quasi experimental design. The research subjects consisted of 56 elementary school students consisting of 2 classes, namely 28 experimental class students and 28 control class students. The experimental class received PjBL-STEM learning treatment while the control class received conventional learning treatment. Data on students' critical thinking skills was obtained from the students' critical thinking skills test instrument. Student learning motivation data was obtained from the student learning motivation questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out using the independent sample t test at the significance level (sig < 0.05). The results of the research show that there are differences in students' critical thinking skills and learning motivation in classes with PjBL-STEM learning and conventional classes. This can be seen from the increase in Posttest scores and questionnaire results obtained in the PjBL-STEM class compared to conventional classes. The independent sample t test shows that the significance probability value is 0.000, which means it is smaller than α 0.05 (sig < 0.05). Therefore, PjBL-STEM has proven to be effective for elementary school students' critical thinking skills and learning motivation.
