Abstract

Amid challenges in mathematics education, students' low problem-solving skills have become a key concern. Studies have shown that many students struggle to understand problems, devise appropriate strategies, and validate their solutions, especially when faced with real-world mathematical tasks. Problem-Based Learning (PBL) has been identified in many studies as a promising approach to address this issue. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of PBL in enhancing students' mathematical problem-solving skills through a systematic review of recent literature. Using the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis) method, this Systematic Literature Review (SLR) identified 20 relevant articles from 1,672 collected through databases like ERIC, ScienceDirect, IOP Science, and PubMed, using keywords "Problem-based Learning" and "problem-solving mathematics." The findings show that PBL consistently improves students' problem-solving skills and is more effective than traditional teaching methods. Thus, PBL is a valuable instructional model for educators to adopt. This review suggests that PBL should be integrated more systematically into mathematics instruction to support students in developing essential 21st-century skills.

Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini merupakan Riset dan Pengembangan (R&D) yang bertujuan menghasilkan dan menguji kevalidan, kepraktisan, serta keefektifan model pembelajaran METRIK-STEAM (Metaphorical Thinking berorientasi kemampuan berpikir reflektif matematis) di kelas VII SMPN 24 Makassar pada semester genap tahun ajaran 2024/2025. Sampel diperoleh dengan menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling dengan mengambil acak dari populasi yang homogen 1 kelas VII dengan 30 siswa dan 1 Guru Mata Pelajaran Matematika. Data dikumpulkan melalui lembar validasi, observasi keterlaksanaan, angket respon siswa dan guru, serta tes hasil belajar, kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif-kuantitatif. Produk yang dihasilkan mencakup buku model, RPS/RPP, modul ajar, LKPD, dan instrumen penelitian dengan sintaks empat fase: Kontekstualisasi, Eksplorasi, Aplikasi, dan Evaluasi yang memadukan unsur STEAM. Hasil validasi menunjukkan kategori valid dan sangat valid pada seluruh komponen (pengelolaan pembelajaran 3,80; buku model 3,55; LKPD 3,61). Keefektifan tercermin dari peningkatan capaian belajar: mean pretest ke posttest: 29,04 (SD=11,25) menjadi 79,54 (SD=2,77) dengan uji t satu sampel signifikan (t_pretest=−22,4; t_posttest=8,96; p<0,001), N-gain rata-rata 0,65 (SD=0,18; t=10,6; p<0,001), serta ketuntasan klasikal naik dari 30% menjadi 73,33%. Rata-rata keterlaksanaan pembelajaran sangat baik (90%), aktivitas siswa sangat aktif (87,96%), serta respon siswa dan guru sangat positif. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa METRIK-STEAM valid, praktis, dan efektif meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika serta keterlibatan siswa. Abstract

Connective thinking skills are an essential aspect of mathematics learning in higher education. However, students tend to rely on memorising patterns rather than developing conceptual thinking strategies, which results in failure when faced with non-routine problems. This study aims to analyse the characteristics of students' cognitive strategies and identify the factors influencing their choice of strategies. Using a qualitative approach with think-aloud techniques, in-depth interviews, and analysis of written work from undergraduate mathematics education students. The results show that students begin problem-solving through visualisation and pattern exploration, but only a few are able to perform logical generalisation. Reflection was found to be the primary trigger for the transformation of strategies from memorisation to connectivity, although there were still construction holes in the conceptual network. These findings contribute theoretically to the application of Toshio's schema and have practical implications for learning design that emphasises reflection and conceptual connectivity.

Abstract

This systematic literature review examines didactical design in mathematics learning from 2015-2025, analyzing implementation patterns across educational contexts while evaluating key design elements. Following PRISMA guidelines, we analyzed 32 articles from diverse international sources. Results revealed distinct educational level-specific approaches to mathematics instruction, with geometry emerging as the predominant content area. Findings indicate that successful didactical designs align instructional approaches with students’ developmental stages: gamification for elementary arithmetic, Realistic Mathematics Education for junior high geometry, problem-based learning for senior high trigonometry, and Socratic questioning for undergraduate calculus. GeoGebra was identified as the most frequently utilized educational tool, highlighting the significance of dynamic mathematics software. This study contributes to mathematics education by providing evidence-based guidance for didactical design implementation while identifying critical research gaps regarding cross-cultural effectiveness, longitudinal impacts, and technology integration. The geographical concentration of studies suggests a need for more diverse international perspectives to strengthen the generalizability of findings.

Abstract

Peningkatan kompetensi guru dalam melaksanakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dan menulis karya ilmiah menjadi kebutuhan strategis dalam pengembangan profesionalisme dan peningkatan mutu pembelajaran. Namun berbagai laporan menunjukkan bahwa guru masih menghadapi kendala dalam memahami metodologi PTK, mengembangkan instrumen penelitian, menganalisis data, serta menyusun artikel ilmiah sesuai kaidah akademik. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan penguatan komprehensif bagi guru MGMP Matematika Kabupaten Maros melalui pelatihan konseptual, praktik terarah, penerapan teknologi digital, dan pendampingan intensif. Program dilaksanakan dalam lima tahapan utama: sosialisasi, pelatihan, penerapan teknologi, pendampingan dan evaluasi, serta keberlanjutan program melalui pembentukan komunitas guru peneliti. Evaluasi kegiatan dilakukan melalui pretest–posttest, observasi proses, monitoring pelaksanaan PTK, serta analisis dokumen luaran guru. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan kompetensi yang signifikan, ditandai dengan kenaikan skor rata-rata dari 59,55 menjadi 81,00. Selain itu, guru menghasilkan 11 proposal PTK, 9 instrumen penelitian, 8 laporan PTK, dan 7 draft artikel ilmiah berbasis IMRAD. Peningkatan ini semakin diperkuat oleh pemanfaatan teknologi digital seperti Google Scholar, Mendeley/Zotero, serta penggunaan aplikasi Gen-AI secara etis untuk mendukung penulisan akademik. Kegiatan ini juga membuahkan terbentuknya Komunitas Guru Peneliti MGMP Matematika Maros sebagai sarana keberlanjutan praktik penelitian guru. Secara keseluruhan, program pengabdian ini terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kompetensi penelitian dan literasi ilmiah guru, sekaligus membangun ekosistem profesional yang mendorong budaya penelitian berkelanjutan di lingkungan MGMP. Model pelatihan dan pendampingan terstruktur ini direkomendasikan untuk direplikasi pada MGMP mata pelajaran lainnya dan dikembangkan melalui kemitraan berkelanjutan antara sekolah dan perguruan tinggi
