Abstract

Tegal City has significant potential in the fisheries and marine sector, which can be utilized as a source of livelihood for the community and to drive regional economic growth. To optimize this potential, the Tegal City Department of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Agriculture, and Food, through the Fisheries Division, implemented a program to strengthen the Processing and Marketing Group (POKLAHSAR) institution. This assistance aimed to describe the process of establishing POKLAHSAR, provide training on fishery product processing, assist in obtaining business permits, and provide supporting facilities to increase the group's capacity and independence. The method used consisted of four stages: POKLAHSAR formation, training, licensing assistance, and providing supporting facilities. The results of the activity indicate that POKLAHSAR formation was carried out in a structured manner through group legalization, as well as obtaining legal entities and business permits. The fishery product processing training successfully improved members' skills in producing value-added processed products, while licensing assistance facilitated the group's acquisition of business legality and product distribution permits. The provision of supporting facilities can improve product efficiency and quality. The POKLAHSAR strengthening program in Tegal City can enhance group capacity and positively impact community economic development, particularly in the fisheries sector.

Abstract

Abstract

Climate change poses significant threats to marine biodiversity and fisheries, impacting ecosystems and the livelihoods that depend on them. Rising sea temperatures, ocean acidification, and altered salinity levels are among the key environmental changes affecting marine life. Understanding these impacts is crucial for developing effective management strategies. This study aims to investigate the effects of climate change on marine biodiversity and the resulting implications for fisheries. The research seeks to identify vulnerable species and ecosystems, as well as assess the economic consequences for fishing communities. A comprehensive literature review was conducted, analyzing existing studies on climate change impacts on marine ecosystems. Data from various regions were synthesized to evaluate changes in species distribution, abundance, and community composition. Economic assessments of fisheries were incorporated to understand the socio-economic implications. Findings indicate significant shifts in marine biodiversity due to climate change, with some species migrating to cooler waters while others face population declines. These changes have direct implications for fisheries, leading to altered catch patterns and economic instability for fishing communities. Vulnerable species were identified, highlighting the need for targeted conservation efforts. This research underscores the urgent need for adaptive management strategies to mitigate the impacts of climate change on marine biodiversity and fisheries. Collaborative efforts between scientists, policymakers, and fishing communities are essential to ensure the sustainability of marine resources in the face of ongoing environmental changes.

Abstract

This study aims to design an ecotourism e-booklet on mangrove conservation for visitors of Angke Kapuk Nature Tourism Park (TWA Angke Kapuk) using a design thinking approach. The background of this research is the limited availability of interactive educational media in the park, which causes tourists to focus mainly on recreation without gaining a deeper understanding of mangrove conservation. A mixed methods approach was applied, combining surveys with 30 visitors, interviews with park managers, and design thinking stages including empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. Initial surveys revealed a low satisfaction level with existing media (average score 2.93), while interest in a digital e-booklet was very high (86.7%). The developed prototype contains information about mangrove ecosystem functions, seedling processes, planting techniques, monitoring activities, and includes interactive quizzes as well as QR codes linking to videos. Testing results indicated a significant increase in visitor satisfaction (average 4.36) and conservation awareness, with respondents stating that the e-booklet provided new knowledge (mean 4.50) and raised awareness of the importance of protecting mangroves (mean 4.63). Thus, the e-booklet is proven effective as an interactive educational medium that supports conservation efforts and sustainable ecotourism development in TWA Angke Kapuk.
