Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of digital literacy and business innovation on the sustainability of micro enterprises in Malang Regency, with competitive advantage as a mediating variable. Micro enterprises face various challenges, particularly limited access to capital and uneven digital transformation. The study employs a quantitative explanatory approach using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Squares (PLS). The population consists of 31,478 micro enterprises, with a sample of 395 respondents determined using the Slovin formula and probability sampling techniques. Data were collected through questionnaires using a 5-point Likert scale. The results indicate that digital literacy has a positive but not significant effect on the sustainability of micro enterprises, while business innovation has a positive and significant effect. Competitive advantage significantly mediates the relationship between digital literacy and business innovation on the sustainability of micro enterprises. These findings suggest that digital literacy alone does not guarantee business sustainability without being supported by competitive advantage and innovation. The model shows an R² value of 86.8%, indicating very strong predictive power.

Abstract

Food safety among elementary school children remains a significant public health concern due to the increased risk of foodborne diseases caused by unhygienic food consumption and poor hygiene behavior. This study aimed to analyze the effect of a food safety awareness intervention on students’ knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding food hygiene and clean healthy living behavior at SD Negeri Gajahmungkur 01 Semarang. The study employed a quantitative pre-experimental design using a one group pre-test post-test approach involving 81 students from grades IV, V, and VI selected through total sampling. The intervention consisted of food safety education, germ transmission simulations, safe snack identification, and handwashing demonstrations. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The findings demonstrated significant improvements across all variables after intervention (p<0.05). The highest increase occurred in grade IV students, particularly in attitudes and practices (53.6%). Interactive and practice-based educational methods contributed to behavioral adaptation and strengthened preventive hygiene habits among elementary school students.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of Indonesia’s Job Creation Law (Law No. 11 of 2020) on labour market outcomes, with particular emphasis on the open unemployment rate. It is motivated by the ongoing debate over labour-market deregulation in Indonesia. While the reform was intended to enhance labour-market flexibility, attract investment, and expand employment opportunities, concerns remain regarding job quality and labour precarity. The study employs a quantitative quasi-experimental design using the Synthetic Control Method to estimate Indonesia’s counterfactual trajectory based on a weighted combination of Asian countries with similar pre-intervention characteristics. The pre-intervention period spans 2015 to 2020, while the post-intervention period covers 2021 to 2024. Predictor variables include GDP per capita, inflation, foreign direct investment net inflows, trade openness, and urban population. The findings show that Indonesia’s post-intervention unemployment trajectory generally lies below its synthetic counterpart, with an average gap of approximately -0.700 percentage points. These results suggest a relative improvement in open unemployment following the policy’s implementation, although placebo tests provide only moderate inferential support. The study concludes that the law is associated with lower open unemployment, while underscoring the need to monitor job quality, informality, and the longer-term sustainability of labour-market change.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of technological infrastructure and regulatory quality on financial inclusion across six middle-income ASEAN economies over the 2011-2024 period. A Fixed Effects estimator with Driscoll-Kraay corrected standard errors is employed to address cross-sectional dependence and non-constant error variance. Both financial inclusion and technological infrastructure are operationalized as PCA-derived composite indices, while the Regulatory Quality Index serves as the measure for institutional quality. Empirical results indicate that regulatory quality exerts a positive and statistically significant effect on financial inclusion, whereas technological infrastructure yields no significant impact. With respect to the control variables, GDP per capita and urban population share positively and significantly shape financial inclusion outcomes, while inflation exerts a negative and significant effect. Overall, these findings suggest that institutional quality, economic capacity, and structural conditions are more consistent drivers of financial inclusion than digital infrastructure availability alone. The findings further indicate that the contribution of technological development is contingent upon supportive regulatory frameworks and stable macroeconomic conditions. Accordingly, policies aimed at expanding financial inclusion should integrate digital infrastructure development with institutional strengthening, macroeconomic stability, and efforts to address structural disparities in access.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of education expenditure, health expenditure, Islamic bank financing, and economic growth on the HDI of Indonesian provinces during the period 2013–2023. Using a quantitative approach, the study employs panel data regression on secondary data from 33 provinces obtained from BPS, OJK, and the Ministry of Finance. The most appropriate estimation model is selected through the Chow and Hausman tests, which both support the use of a fixed effect model, followed by multicollinearity and heteroscedasticity diagnostics to ensure model validity. The results show that education expenditure, health expenditure, Islamic bank financing, and economic growth each have a positive and statistically significant impact on HDI, while jointly explaining approximately 85% of its variation across provinces. These findings suggest that increased education and health budgets effectively enhance human capital through longer schooling, better health outcomes, and higher life expectancy, whereas expanded Islamic bank financing and robust economic growth raise adjusted per capita expenditure and overall welfare. The study concludes that optimizing human development in Indonesia requires a coherent policy mix that strengthens pro-poor and pro-human capital public expenditure, deepens Islamic financial inclusion, and sustains inclusive economic growth, particularly in lagging regions, in order to narrow HDI disparities and support long-term sustainable development.

Abstract

The transformation towards a knowledge- and creativity-based economy opens opportunities for local culture to become a driver of the real sector. However, at the community level, cultural potential is often not strategically managed due to institutional and managerial weaknesses. This study aims to analyze strategies for optimizing the local culture-based creative economy in the Polowijen Cultural Village (KBP) in Malang City. The method used is a mixed method approach through qualitative identification of strategic factors and quantitative analysis using the IFAS, EFAS, IE, SWOT, and QSPM matrices. The results show that KBP has a strong internal position (3.15) and supportive external conditions (2.89), thus placing it in the growth and build quadrant. The priority strategy established is the development of cultural educational tourism integrated with crafts, performing arts, and local MSMEs. These findings confirm that local culture can function as a driver of the real sector through the creation of added value, employment opportunities, and economic multiplier effects. Institutional strengthening and digitalization of promotion are key to sustainable development.
