Abstract

Misconceptions are one of the primary obstacles in learning science at the elementary school level, which can hinder in-depth understanding of concepts and disrupt the learning process, ultimately causing students to fail in their learning. This study aims to examine the role of the 5E Learning Cycle model (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate) in overcoming misconceptions of science concepts among elementary school students through a literature review approach. The method used is a systematic literature review of various relevant scientific sources over the past ten years. The research findings indicate that the 5E Learning Cycle model is effective in identifying, clarifying, and reconstructing students' misconceptions through structured and student- centered learning stages. The "Engage" and "Explore" stages allow educators to reveal students' initial understanding, while the "Explain" and "Elaborate" stages support the reinforcement of correct scientific concepts. The "Evaluate" stage helps facilitate conceptual shifts in students. Based on the literature review, the 5E Learning Cycle model is recommended as an effective pedagogical approach to improving the quality of science concept understanding and reducing misconceptions among elementary school students.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze global trends in the development of adaptive digital modules based on artificial intelligence (AI) in fluid physics learning through a bibliometric approach. As the 21st-century demand for critical thinking skills and technological understanding grows, AI-based modules are becoming increasingly relevant in supporting differentiated learning. However, a comprehensive mapping of scientific publications in this field remains limited, leading to gaps in understanding current research directions and potential collaboration opportunities. This research uses bibliometric software to identify publication patterns, researcher collaboration networks, and key trends in the development of AI-based physics learning modules. The data used is taken from the Scopus database and includes related publications from 2019 to 2024. The research method involves two main steps: data collection of publications using the keywords "adaptive digital module AND AI AND physics education" and metadata analysis to identify research trends and researcher collaborations. The analysis results show a significant increase in the number of publications on AI-based adaptive learning, particularly from countries such as China, the United States, and India. The findings also indicate that the main research topics include the development of AI technology to support adaptive learning, as well as the effectiveness of digital modules in the context of physics education. This research reveals the importance of international collaboration in the development of AI-based adaptive modules and recommends the use of other bibliometric methods as well as the expansion of database coverage for future research. Abstract

People with hearing and speech disabilities (PHSD) continue to face barriers in accessing Quranic literacy education due to the dominance of auditory–verbal instructional approaches and the limited availability of adaptive digital learning environments. Although sign language recognition (SLR) technologies have advanced significantly, most existing systems are not aligned with pedagogically and theologically grounded Quranic learning frameworks. This study aims to develop and evaluate a deep learning-enhanced Kitabah application to support inclusive, adaptive, and technology-enhanced Quranic sign language education for PHSD learners. The study employed two approaches: (1) the development of a Kitabah-based mobile learning application integrating interactive visual–motor learning features, and (2) the implementation of a deep learning-based SLR model using ResNet-18 with transfer learning for static Hijaiyyah gesture recognition. The mobile application was evaluated through black-box testing and the System Usability Scale (SUS), while the SLR model was assessed using accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score metrics. Results showed that all application functionalities operated successfully, with the application achieving a SUS score of 78.06, indicating good usability and accessibility. The SLR model achieved 98% classification accuracy across 31 Hijaiyyah sign classes, demonstrating strong recognition performance. These findings indicate that integrating the Kitabah method with deep learning and mobile learning technology can support progressive, inclusive, and adaptive Quranic literacy education through AI-assisted and learner-centered educational experiences for PHSD learners.
