Abstract

This study investigates the emotional and professional impacts of teaching on novice lecturers at Universitas Muhammadiyah Enrekang, focusing on the process of identity transformation. New lecturers face numerous emotional and professional challenges, including stress, role ambiguity, and feelings of isolation, particularly during the initial years of teaching. This research adopts a qualitative approach, using semi-structured interviews with 22 novice lecturers from various academic disciplines to gain insights into their experiences. The study found that institutional support, particularly mentorship from the Chair of the Department and peer collaboration, plays a crucial role in helping lecturers navigate these challenges and develop a professional identity. Although the institution provides some support, findings suggest that more structured mentorship and additional resources are necessary to support novice lecturers better. The study contributes to existing literature on the identity formation of novice lecturers, especially in non-Western academic settings, and highlights the need for tailored support strategies that address the specific challenges faced by new faculty members. These insights are valuable for improving institutional practices and enhancing novice lecturers' professional satisfaction and development.

Abstract

Purpose: This study investigates the impact of factors like product quality, price, and brand perception on the purchasing habits of students in the Management Program at Muhammadiyah University of Palopo, particularly in relation to Skintific skincare products. Methodology: Using a quantitative approach, data were collected via questionnaires distributed to 100 respondents, chosen purposively from a population of 1,287 students. The data were analyzed through multiple linear regression techniques. Results: The results reveal that product quality alone does not have a significant effect on purchasing decisions. However, price and brand image have a strong positive and statistically significant influence. Together, these three factors show a considerable combined impact. Findings: Although product quality is not the main driver, it helps reinforce the effects of price and brand image. For students, price sensitivity and brand perception generally outweigh product quality in shaping their purchasing behavior. Originality: This study offers original insights by focusing specifically on the student market segment in skincare product purchasing behavior, highlighting how price and brand image outweigh product quality, a perspective that has been underexplored in prior research.  Conclusion: he study emphasizes the importance of marketing strategies that focus on competitive pricing and strong brand development to effectively influence students' purchasing decisions. Abstract

This study aims to identify the relationship between academic stress and students' engagement among santri in Islamic Boarding Schools and explore the moderating role of social support in mitigating the negative impact of academic stress on learning engagement. This research was conducted at SMP Muhammadiyah Boarding School Palopo. The population consisted of 207 students from grades VII to IX. A sample of 136 students was selected using the stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected using questionnaires measuring academic stress, social support, and student engagement, and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4 software. The results show that academic stress has a positive but not statistically significant effect on students' engagement. Conversely, social support has a positive and significant effect and is a considerable moderator that reduces the negative impact of academic stress on learning engagement. In other words, santri who receive strong social support tend to remain actively engaged in the learning process despite facing academic pressures. The limitation of this study lies in the small sample size and its focus on a single Islamic Boarding Schools. Therefore, the findings cannot be widely generalized.

Abstract

This study explores the use of outdoor-based Snakes and Ladders as an alternative medium for stimulating and shaping the behavior of hyperactive children. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the research was conducted with the following subject criteria: (1) children enrolled at ABA II Quranic School Palopo; (2) aged 5–6 years; (3) residing with their parents; and (4) consistently exhibiting symptoms of hyperactivity. Supporting informants included classroom teachers and parents. Data collection techniques utilized source triangulation—comparing data from observations, interviews, and documentation—and member checking, wherein findings were confirmed with participants. The data analysis procedure involved four stages: (1) data collection, (2) data reduction, (3) data display, and (4) conclusion drawing and verification. The findings indicate that the outdoor-based Snakes and Ladders game is an effective behavioral stimulation tool for hyperactive children. The game offers opportunities for physical movement, incorporates structured rules, and fosters an enjoyable learning environment, thereby meeting the developmental needs of children with high activity levels and emerging self-regulation skills. Participation in the game facilitated the development of behavioral competencies, including turn-taking, rule compliance, and impulse control. Additionally, the game supported enhancing social skills such as cooperation, communication, and empathy. The outdoor setting further contributed to these outcomes by providing open space, fresh air, and a relaxed yet engaging atmosphere. The novelty of this research lies in its adaptation of a traditional game into a developmentally appropriate tool for physical and behavioral stimulation that is both flexible and easily implemented.

Abstract

The Pancasila Student Profile represents a concrete manifestation of the national education goals and serves as a fundamental reference in formulating educational policies, including religious literacy. This study aims to identify the noble values of local wisdom in South Sulawesi that contribute to the strengthening of the Pancasila Student Profile (P5), and explore the patterns of integrating local wisdom values into the implementation of P5. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach. Data sources were selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data collection methods included observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, with the researcher acting as the primary research instrument. The research findings confirm that local wisdom values have been incorporated into the learning process to strengthen the P5 program in schools. Each dimension of P5 includes elements of local wisdom: D1 incorporates the values of mallise ale and mabbokong; D2 integrates sipakatau, sipakainge, and sipakalebbi; D3 reflects asunpololo; D4 includes agettengeng; D5 emphasizes amaccang; and D6 upholds the value of reso. These values are embedded through intracurricular, cocurricular, and extracurricular activities. The intracurricular approach can also be implemented through project-based or problem-based learning models, encouraging students to think critically about local issues as a means of reinforcing national integration.
