Abstract

Social studies lessons are boring learning for students because the content is rote memorization. Based on the results of initial observations, it appears that the low interest in studying social studies for class V at Baiga State Elementary School is caused by students' disinterest in delivering monotonous material, teachers have difficulty providing concrete descriptions of learning material because they do not use the right media so that students have difficulty expressing facts, and arguments to develop within the topic. In general, interest in studying social studies among these students is low. This research aims to increase students' interest in learning social studies and describe the obstacles and solutions for implementing the role playing model with audio-visual media. This classroom action research was carried out in two cycles with planning, implementation, observation and reflection stages. The research results show that the role playing model with audio-visual media can increase students' interest in learning social studies. The obstacle in implementing the role playing model with audio visual media is that it is difficult for students to be suitable in playing the role of a teacher, where students are less imbued with their role, students are less active in asking questions during activities. The solution offered is that teachers pay more attention to the abilities of students in determining the role of each student so that they are more aware of their role.

Abstract

Within the ever-evolving scene of instruction, the usage of differentiated learning, an approach planned to cater to assorted student’s needs, has picked up unmistakable quality. This article investigates the challenges experienced by science teachers as they explore the complexities of joining differentiated learning procedures into their classrooms in junior high schools in Palu, Central Sulawesi-Indonesia. A mixed-methods investigative plan, comprising overviews and interviews, was utilized to explore the encounters of science teachers. The quantitative stage uncovered that whereas a critical parcel of teachers grasped differentiated learning, they experienced challenges such as time limitations (80%), substance adjustment (50%), constraints to fitting educating assets (20%), students’ resistance (30%), and inadequately proficient improvement (20%). The subjective stage gives in-depth experiences into these challenges, highlighting the requirement for imaginative procedures, progressing back, and asset accessibility to overcome them. The consideration underscores the significance of tending to these challenges to cultivate a more comprehensive and locks-in science teaching-learning environment that benefits both teachers and students

Abstract

This study aims to map and analyze the scientific landscape of online gender-based violence (OGBV) comprehensively through a bibliometric approach, utilizing the Scopus database and the VOSviewer visualization tool. The goal is to identify trends in topic evolution, key research focus clusters, and prospective research gaps. This method quantifies and visualizes the research structure of OGBV from 2016 to 2025. The results of the Co-Keyword analysis show that the scientific literature is very focused on two main concepts: "cyber violence" and "cyber-bullying". Research has shifted from an initial focus on adolescent cyber-bullying to more gender-specific contemporary and social issues, such as "hate speech" and "online harassment" on "social media". The cluster analysis grouped the research into three main areas: 1) Studies on Victims and Their Impacts (focusing on psychology and quantitative methodologies), 2) Digital Contexts and Forms of Violence (focusing on social media and specific violence), and 3) Gender-Based Violence Relationships and Aspects (focusing on perpetrators, prevention, and online-offline relationships). The main research gap identified in the prevention area, where the term density remains low, underscores the urgency of developing effective interventions and strategies for OGBV. Keywords: bibliometrics, online gender-based violence, vosviewer, cyber violence

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of Cognitive Defusion group counselling services in reducing students' levels of insecurity. The study employed a Guidance and Counselling Action (PTBK) design, which was conducted in two cycles with eight eighth-grade students serving as research subjects, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews, and then analysed both descriptively and quantitatively. The results showed a significant decrease in insecurity levels, from 77.12% (high category) in the pre-cycle to 61% (medium category) in cycle I, and further decreased to 55.5% (low category) in cycle II. These findings suggest that the Cognitive Defusion technique is effective in helping students release negative thoughts, boost self-confidence, and enhance self-acceptance.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of multicultural group counseling integrated with the Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) approach in enhancing multicultural self-efficacy among Indonesian high school students. Using a mixed-methods method, nine students were selected through purposive sampling based on their willingness to participate, representation of cultural diversity, and absence of serious psychological concerns. They completed an eight-session YPAR-based group counseling intervention. Quantitative data were collected using the Multicultural Self-Efficacy Scale–High School Version (MSES–HS) and analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Wilcoxon signed-rank test, and effect size calculations. The results revealed a substantial increase in multicultural self-efficacy (ΔM = 88.78), representing approximately 49.8% of the total scale range, with all five dimensions—cultural knowledge, cultural values, cultural awareness, communication, and flexibility—showing significant improvement (p < .01; r = .89). Qualitative data derived from reflection journals, focus group discussions, and facilitator observations indicated enhanced intercultural empathy, increased communication confidence, and a shift from passive tolerance to proactive engagement. These findings align with Bandura’s self-efficacy and social learning theories and Corey’s group counseling framework, which emphasize experiential learning, peer modeling, and reflective dialogue. The integration of YPAR into multicultural counseling not only demonstrated statistical effectiveness but also fostered agency, cultural identity development, and a more participatory school climate. This study offers a culturally responsive and scalable intervention model for inclusive education, particularly in multicultural contexts such as Indonesia.

Abstract

Many Muslim students in Southeast Asia struggle with self-acceptance, especially around body image with adverse implications for well-being. This study evaluated a culturally attuned life-skills counseling program in an Islamic higher-education setting. Using a quasi-experimental nonequivalent pretest–posttest control design at the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Bone, Indonesia, 24 undergraduates with low self-acceptance were assigned to experiment group and control group. The intervention followed the DASIE sequence and integrated bibliotherapy and self-talk framed by Islamic virtues (muḥāsabah, shukr, riḍā) and local norms (adab, musyawarah). Self-acceptance was measured with the Husna & Fatonah scale (α=.961). Mann–Whitney analysis showed a significant post-intervention advantage for the counseling group (p=.001) with a large effect, indicating educationally meaningful gains. Mechanisms likely included identification with culturally relevant narratives and practice of faith-consistent self-evaluation. Findings support embedding faith-aligned, skills-based counseling within guidance services and training counselors in religiously attuned cognitive-behavioral methods across Islamic and local culture-based schools. Interpretation is qualified by a small, single-site, quasi-experimental design. Future multi-site randomized studies with longitudinal follow-up should test durability and examine mediators (e.g., self-compassion, perceived unconditional positive regard) and moderators (e.g., gender, socioeconomic status, religious commitment).
