Abstract

This paper examines the transformation of Islamic politics and civilization from the classical period to the modern era, as well as the contributions of Islam to the development of global knowledge. In the classical period, Islamic civilization was characterized by strong political institutions, intellectual openness, and the integration of religious and rational sciences, which enabled significant advancements in science, medicine, philosophy, and social thought. However, internal political fragmentation, external pressures, and colonial domination led to the decline of Islamic political power and intellectual influence. The modern period marks a phase of transformation in which Muslim societies faced the challenges of modernization, Western influence, and the reconfiguration of political and intellectual frameworks. Despite these challenges, Islam continued to contribute to global knowledge through its rich scientific heritage, methodological approaches, and ethical perspectives. The transmission of Islamic knowledge to Europe played a crucial role in shaping modern science and the Renaissance. This study highlights that the transformation from classical to modern Islamic civilization reflects both continuity and change, demonstrating the enduring relevance of Islamic intellectual traditions in the contemporary world.

Employing a qualitative descriptive approach through a systematic literature review. The findings indicate that the core principles of maqāṣid al-sharīʿah including the protection of religion, life, intellect, property, progeny and environment are strongly aligned with fundamental principles of modern governance, such as justice, accountability, transparency, inclusiveness, and sustainability. Moreover, maqāṣid al-sharīʿah can function not only as an ethical foundation but also as an operational and evaluative framework for public policymaking, economic governance, anti-corruption initiatives, and institutional management in the digital era. This study concludes that integrating maqāṣid al-sharīʿah into modern governance has the potential to enhance moral legitimacy, policy effectiveness, and holistic human well-being, thereby contributing to sustainable and value-based governance systems.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the implementation of the ta'widiyah method in instilling character values in Madrasah Alam Insan Rabbani Kota Sungai TFull as a response to moral challenges in the era of globalization. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with a field research approach, where data is collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that planning is carried out systematically by integrating religious values, discipline, honesty, independence, and environmental care into the madrasah culture. Its implementation is carried out consistently through worship routines, interaction with nature, and the example of teachers in a holistic and pressure-free learning atmosphere. Evaluation is carried out on an ongoing basis through direct observation of student behavior, daily reports, and joint reflection sessions. Despite facing challenges in the form of inconsistencies in parenting at home and the diversity of family backgrounds, the research concludes that a strong synergy between teachers, parents, and a supportive madrasah environment makes the ta'widiyah method very effective in shaping the personality and noble character of students as a whole.
