Abstract

The laboratory is one of the facilities available at school as a support for learning biology. The fulfillment of facilities and infrastructure in the biology laboratory will affect the success of learning. Biology learning does not only include theory but also direct practical activities. Therefore, to support the success of practicum-based learning, a biology laboratory must have adequate facilities and infrastructure by the minimum standards listed in Permendiknas Number 24 of 2007. This research aims to determine the quality of the biology laboratory at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Simo Boyolali in the academic year 2023/2024. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques in the form of observation and interviews. The results of this study indicate that the quality of the laboratory at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Simo Boyolali has good criteria with a percentage of 78,31%, where these results are still lacking in meeting the minimum standards listed in Permendiknas Number 24 of 2007. This research concludes that the quality of the biology laboratory is classified as good even though it has not met the minimum standards by Permendiknas Number 24 of 2007.

Abstract

As times have changed, so have lifestyles that have adverse health effects, including obesity. Obesity is known to potentially affect the number of red blood cells in the body. Obesity can cause iron deficiency in children and adolescents, which can develop into anemia. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of obesity on the number of red blood cells and to investigate the effect of a combination of glucomannan and moringa leaf extract on the number of red blood cells in obese white Wistar strain rats. The research method used was a true experimental design in the form of a post-test only control group with three treatment groups: the control group, treatment group P1 and treatment group P2. The results of the calculations showed differences in the number of red blood cells in each treatment. In the control treatment, there were 7.16/L. In the P1 treatment, the RBCs were 3.24 million/L. In contrast, the P2 treatment yielded a result of 5.02 million red blood cells per liter. It can be concluded that the combination of Porang Tuber Glucomannan with Moringa Leaf Extract can reduce body weight and normalize the number of red blood cells.

Abstract

Allergy is a response from the body's defense to reject when exposed to certain antigens. When the antigen (allergen) enters the body's tissue, there are two responses produced by the body, namely the allergen that is successful in destroying it or the allergen that damages the body's tissue. Proteins are polypeptide macromolecules composed of a number of L-amino acids linked by peptide bonds. MSG (Monosodium Glutamate) is a gram of sodium derived from glutamic acid. The aim of this research is to determine consumer acceptance of vegetable protein .This research uses quantitative research methods by distributing questionnaires to the public. As well as helping to provide replacement products to people who are allergic to animal protein. The results of the questionnaire that was given to the public, of the 53 respondents who were given the questionnaire, found that 32 respondents chose to use plant-based products and the remainder chose not to use plant-based products. These plants are allergic to animal protein and the rest do not experience allergies.

Abstract

While the use of e-learning has been around for decades, the global pandemic increased the number of investigations on e-learning exponentially. Earlier studies have given useful insights into the benefits/ impacts of e-learning. However, students’ acceptance of technology within the context of emergency EFL remote teaching is still under-researched. A qualitative study framed within the General Extended Technology Acceptance Model for E-Learning (GETAMEL) aims to shed light on the students’ acceptance of technology during pandemics based on their perceived experience. It reports the challenges, opportunities of e-learning, and projections on future use based on the current experience. To collect the data, a questionnaire consisting of open and closed questions was distributed to 89 participants. In-depth interviews were conducted with focal respondents after gaining their consent. The data were then analyzed using the interactive model of data analysis. This study reveals that regardless of the negative experiences and challenges in the use of technology in e-learning, the students held positive perspectives and saw opportunities to use technology during the COVID-19 pandemic. They projected their future practice using the technology. These indicate that the students well accept the use of technology in the e-learning context. The study concluded that using e-learning during a pandemic is the ideal way to continue learning. However, given the challenges that students face, some changes in the implementation of distance learning are still needed. Additional studies should address GETAMEL on EFL teachers in an Indonesian school, so we know about the acceptance of e-learning by in-service teachers. Keywords: COVID-19, EFL students, e-learning, GETAMEL, higher education

Abstract

Considering its influential role in students’ behavior and attitudes, a textbook has to reflect balanced images and information about males and females. It also has to support broad choices and many roles for both sexes to avoid unjust or bias gender issues. This study aimed at examining whether an EFL textbook published by the Indonesian government promotes gender equity by (1) mapping the proportion of textual and visual representation of males and females in the textbook; (2) describing how males and females are treated in the textbook. Through content analysis, the study revealed that the book is gender-biased as indicated from unbalanced (1) textual and visual representation (2) variety of activity, role, and occupation, (3) order of mention, and (4) adjectival portrayal. In all indicators, the female is underrepresented, hidden, and framed within traditional gender stereotyping.  Reflecting on these findings, revision by the government and/ or careful treatment by teachers when using the book are ushered.  Keywords: bias, content analysis, gender representation, gender stereotype, textbook.
