Abstract

The seismic data has different character, therefore the method used for reservoir characterization of a particular area will not be the same as the other areas. If the coating has a thickness below tuning thickness of the layer, there will be a buildup of wave amplitude. If not recognized can lead to misinterpretation (pitfall). There are several methods that can still interpret the data among other things, methods of seismic inversion and AVO. Both methods are used to characterize the reservoir and determine the rock layers are believed to have potential hydrocarbon accumulation. Seismic inversion methods used to determine the distribution of rock layers below the surface, obtained through this method lithological layers of sandstone that has the potential to be a reservoir. AVO method is the initial method used to determine the gas anomalies and known in this field there is the presence of gas, but in this method can only indicate the presence of gas, by combining these two parameters will be obtained by the distribution of lithology and hydrocarbon clearly. The integration of these two methods shows that although the seismic data below the tuning thickness, can still be interpreted in order to get the reservoar lithological a sandstone layer is enough potential to be explored further. Abstract

Magnetotellurics method is frequently used in exploration of geothermal resources for determining the subsurface resistivity distribution of the Earth. An accurate representation of the Earth’s resistivity structure can be obtained by knowing the direction of geoelectrical strike and dimensionality structure prior to modelling. Besides those both cases, distortion in the data magnetotelluric can lead to errors of interpretation. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify the geoelectrical strike direction and dimensionality structure in the “GYF” geothermal field using phase tensor analysis prior to 2D modelling. Three invariant parameters of phase tensor i.e ellipticity, phase tensor skew angle (β) and Azimuth of phase tensor maximum (α-β) are used to get the information about the dimensionality and geoelectrical strike direction on 65 magnetotelluric data in “GYF” geothermal field. Results of the phase tensor analysis show that the direction of geoelectrical strike is N60°W or 300° at frequency (10-0,2 Hz) and dimensionality of subsurface structure consists of a structure 1D, 2D and 3D. Structure of 1D and 2D is in the frequency range 320 to 0,2 Hz, while the 3D structure is at a low frequency, ie f < 0,2 Hz. Identification of geoelectrical strike and dimensionality in 2D magnetotelluric modelling can minimize misinterpretation. Keywords: Dimensionality, geoelectrical strike, distortion, phase tensor

Abstract

Stacking is an important phase in the seismic data processing, it’s a tool or quick look before subsurface section resulted. Common Reflection Surface is the developing of the conventional processing that has been generally done. CRS method has more benefits than conventional stack method, specially on the complex structure and do not rely on from velocity model that’s really useful for seismic data processing. The main difference between CRS and conventional stacking mode is on stack parameter decision or the attribute connected to subsurface reflector. CRS application has been applied in the area “Y” using software ProMAX 2D. In this research by using marine seismic data has done five times using different apperture values, they are 150 m, 100 m, 67 m, 33 m, and 20 m for getting the best stack result. Based on the research can be concluded that CRS method has applicated successly on the 2D marine seismic data having a better result than by using conventional method, proved by CRS method stack result can show the better reflector continuity and it increases the signal to noise ratio qualitative.
