Abstract

The development of gross motor skills in early childhood needs to be stimulated through enjoyable and well-directed learning activities. However, preliminary observations at TK IT Bintang Raya Cicalengka indicated that some children still experience difficulties in basic motor movements such as jumping, maintaining balance, and coordinating body movements. This study aims to describe the management of learning based on educational games in improving early childhood gross motor skills through the PDCA (Plan–Do–Check–Act) cycle approach. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. This study is grounded in theories of early childhood motor development and the concept of continuous improvement through the PDCA cycle in learning management. The results show that the implementation of educational games such as line jumping, ball throwing and catching, walking on balance boards, and simple obstacle games can enhance muscle strength, balance, coordination, and agility in children. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that educational game-based learning management using the PDCA approach is effective in improving gross motor skills of early childhood students at TK IT Bintang Raya Cicalengka.

Abstract

This study investigates how school principals manage the implementation of the zoning-based New Student Admission (PPDB) policy as a strategy to promote equitable access to education. Using a qualitative case study design, the research was conducted at two public senior high schools in Ciamis Regency, Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis, and were analyzed using an interactive model involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that principals’ managerial and leadership capacities strongly influence effective policy implementation. Successful practices include systematic planning, collaborative task distribution, transparent communication with stakeholders, and continuous monitoring and evaluation. However, several challenges were identified, including community resistance, infrastructure disparities, technical limitations in the online registration system, and increased administrative workload. To address these issues, principals adopted adaptive strategies, including stakeholder engagement, service improvement, and staff capacity building. The study concludes that zoning policies cannot achieve educational equity without strong school leadership and institutional readiness. This research contributes to the literature by emphasizing the managerial role of principals as a critical mediator between policy design and implementation outcomes, and by offering practical implications for strengthening leadership capacity in educational reform.

Abstract

This study examines how literacy program management contributes to improving students’ reading interest in elementary schools. Using a qualitative descriptive case study design, the research was conducted at SDN 1 Rawa and SDN 2 Lumbungsari in Ciamis Regency, Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis, and analyzed using an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the effectiveness of literacy initiatives is strongly influenced by principals’ managerial and leadership capacities rather than solely by the availability of facilities. Strategic planning, clear task organization, consistent daily reading routines, and continuous evaluation enabled the embedding of literacy practices into everyday school activities and learning processes. Despite challenges such as limited resources, low student motivation, and time constraints, schools adopted adaptive strategies, including collaboration with stakeholders, material rotation, and creative literacy activities, to sustain engagement. The study concludes that literacy development should be viewed as a systematic and school-wide management process. This research contributes to educational management literature by highlighting principal leadership as a key mediating factor linking literacy policy to sustainable reading culture in elementary education.

Abstract

The Fourth Industrial Revolution demands vocational graduates possess strong discipline alongside technical competencies, yet 25% experience employment difficulties due to weak work ethic rather than skill deficiencies. This qualitative multiple case study examined character education management at SMKN 1 Pangandaran and SMKS Taruna Bangsa Ciamis through observations, interviews, and document analysis. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman's framework with triangulation for validity. Management functions operated systematically: planning established four discipline indicators (punctuality, SOP/safety compliance, task responsibility, professional communication); organizing created cross-functional coordination with clear role delineation; implementation combined school-based habituation through Teaching Factory with authentic industrial practice during internships; evaluation employed the CIPP model using rubrics, logbooks, and industry reports. Punctuality improved from 68% to 89%, and safety compliance increased from 72% to 94% during internships. Barriers including teacher preparation gaps, cultural differences, and short internship duration were addressed through professional development, graduated transitions, and standardized assessment instruments. Findings demonstrate that systematic management frameworks effectively bridge school-industry contexts for discipline formation. The study extends social learning and experiential learning theories into vocational character education, providing actionable practices for educators and policymakers while identifying needs for longitudinal research and exploration of higher-order professional competencies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of learning management using the sorogan method at Pondok Pesantren Nurul Iman, Bandung City, in its effort to improve graduate quality to possess intellectual depth and spiritual maturity. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study design. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation study, which were then analyzed using George R. Terry's management theoretical framework (POAC). The results indicate that the learning management of the sorogan method is implemented systematically through: (1) Planning based on an adaptive hierarchical curriculum; (2) Organizing based on teacher specialization (takhassus) and functional grouping; (3) Actuating emphasizing dialogical interaction and motivation through a reward system; and (4) Inherent hierarchical supervision with the Munaqasyah examination as the primary quality assurance instrument. In conclusion, the success of improving graduate quality in urban Islamic boarding schools lies in the rigorous integration of Salaf tradition standards with modern managerial flexibility. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis implementasi manajemen pembelajaran metode sorogan di Pondok Pesantren Nurul Iman, Kota Bandung, dalam upayanya meningkatkan mutu lulusan agar memiliki kedalaman intelektual dan kematangan spiritual. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis studi kasus deskriptif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif, dan studi dokumentasi, yang kemudian dianalisis menggunakan kerangka teori manajemen George R. Terry (POAC). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa manajemen pembelajaran metode sorogan diterapkan secara sistematis melalui: (1) Perencanaan berbasis hierarki kurikulum yang adaptif; (2) Pengorganisasian berbasis spesialisasi keahlian ustadz (takhassus) dan pengelompokan fungsional; (3) Pelaksanaan yang menekankan interaksi dialogis dan motivasi melalui sistem reward; serta (4) Pengawasan melekat berjenjang dengan ujian Munaqasyah sebagai instrumen penjamin mutu utama. Kesimpulannya, keberhasilan peningkatan mutu lulusan di pesantren urban terletak pada integrasi ketatnya standar tradisi salaf dengan fleksibilitas manajerial modern. Kata Kunci: Manajemen Pembelajaran, Metode Sorogan, Mutu Lulusan.
