The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using inquiry-based handouts on students critical thinking abilities. The design of this study was experimental design with pretest and posttest group control design methods. It was by looking at the students ability to answer the pretest and posttest question sheets that contain critical thinking indicators such as analyzing, synthesizing, connecting, concluding, evaluating, and creating. The results of this study show that the students critical thinking skills for the group given the handout showed that they met good criteria, that is the average score above 75. Meanwhile, students critical thinking skills in the class or group of students who were not given handouts were still not more than 50. Abstract

Process of science learning stresses on giving students direct experience to develop their competence. Therefore, teachers are required to be creative and innovative to improve students’ critical thinking. Accordingly, there is a need for a research on “The science learning based on guided inquiry integration with Numbered Heads Together (NHT) toward critical thinking skill”. This research aim to figure out of influence of the science learning based on guided inquiry integration with NHT. This research is a quasi-experimental study, with design "non-equivalent group control design". This research was conducted at September-December 2018 with samples of the experimental class (n = 40) and the control class (n = 40) at class VIII SMP N 21 Pekanbaru. The research instrument consisted of questions to test students' critical thinking skills. This shows the research instrument at a good and quality stage. The results of this study note that there are significant differences in the average value of the Post test students' critical thinking skills between the experimental class amounted to 75.00 with the control class 67.00 after the intervention (P <0.05). So that the use of Integration of guided inquiry with NHT in the learning process can improve students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Guided Inquiry (GI) learning model with Thingking Empowering By Questioning (TEQ) on student cognitive learning outcomes. This study was a quasi-experimental study with a pretest posttest control group design. The population of this research was the students of class XI MIPA SMAN 3Dumai in the academic year 2018/2019. Sampling method was done using random sampling techniques to getexperiment and control class. The parameters measured were cognitive learning outcomes and the instrument used was an objective test. The data analysis technique for testing hypotheses was independent t-test. Data analysis showed sig ˂ 0.05 then H0 was rejected, this shows that student learning outcomes with the Guided Inqury model with Thingking Empowering By Questioning were significantly different from student learning outcomes with conventional models. Student learning outcomes using the Guided Inqury learning model with Thingking Empowering By Questioning are better than student learning outcomes using conventional learning. The average value of student learning outcomes in the experimental class was 81.82 while the control class was61.29. The average N-gain of the experimental group was0.70 with a high category and the control group was 0.38with a moderate category.

Abstract

This study aims to develop e-modules through the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The type of this research was development research with the ADDIE model. The trial subjects were students of SMAN 1 Seberida. The research instruments were observation, interview, media expert validation questionnaire, material expert, biology teacher validation, student and student response questionnaire. Qualitative data analysis techniques in the form of qualitative descriptive observations and interviews and presented at the analysis stage, suggestions from media expert validators, materials, biology teachers, student and student responses were carried out descriptively and qualitatively and presented in the development stage. While the score of the biology teacher validation questionnaire was carried out using Descriptive statistics by presenting data through tables. The validation results of media experts, material experts and biology teachers on the e-module were 3.63, 3.62 and 3.71, respectively with valid category. The results of student and student response analysis obtained an average score of 89.98 and 87.7 which are categorized as very practical. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the electronic module with the Kvisoft flipbook maker is suitable for use as learning material and can be tested in direct learning.
