Abstract

Objective: Competence is an individual's ability to do a job adequately and appropriately. Competence is needed in the field of work. Future vehicles are currently heading towards electric-based vehicles. Therefore, graduates who have competence, especially in electricity, are needed. Valid and accurate measuring instruments are needed to determine a person's competence. Therefore, in this study, instruments were developed to measure student competence in automotive electricity. Method: The research method used is a development study using a 4D model consisting of four phases: Defining, Designing, Developing, and Disseminating. The finished instrument is validated and tested to see its validity and reliability. Results: This study obtained automotive electrical competency instruments in 3 instruments, namely to measure knowledge, skills, and attitudes. There is 1 question item that must be dropped because the CVR value and correlation test items are below 0.3, and the outfit and infit values are above 2. No question items are dropped for instruments, indicators, attitudes, and skills. All automotive electrical competency instruments produce reliable instruments. Novelty: a unique instrument that focuses on automotive electrical competence. This approach includes knowledge, skills, and attitudes towards technological developments.

Abstract

Environmental influences can cause corrosion or damage to materials, which is why paint coating is used to protect them. Some of the factors that affect the quality of the paint are technical, such as setting the air pressure and spray gun nozzle spacing. The experimental research aims to determine how air pressures of 1.5, 2, and 2.5 bar and nozzle spacings of 10–15–20 cm affect the gloss and thickness of the water-based paint layer. A gravity-feed spray gun was used for this purpose. The luster test method uses an AMTAST AMN60 glossmeter with the ASTM D523-08 standard, and the thickness test uses a coating thickness gauge with the ASTM E 376-96 standard. The air pressure and the distance of the spray gun nozzle affect the gloss and thickness of the paint layer. Parameter 2 bar/15 cm yielded the highest gloss of 92.77 GU, while parameter 2.5 bar/10 cm resulted in the highest coating thickness of 0.26 mm.

Abstract

In carrying out the design process, the main factor that must be considered is the lifting strength of the crane against the maximum load borne. Because the inaccuracy of the design process can result in malfunctions, even causing work accidents. Therefore, it is necessary to do the right design so that it can be used safely. In this design, the design of a lifting aircraft with a single girder gantry crane is designed with a lifting capacity of up to 2 tons, a lifting height of 4 meters, and a transfer width of 5 meters.. The design method used is by substituting the values ​​and other factors needed into the known equations to obtain the final result. To determine the maximum tensile strength of the load in this crane design, the equation for the maximum tensile force is used to obtain a result of 633.12 kg. Then for the steel rope chosen in this design is the 222 wire construction with parallel positions. By using the equation for resistance of the motor to movement, the power needed to move the crane is also 23,215 HP

Abstract

Perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi saat ini dibutuhkan untuk memberikan solusi yang tepat dari permasalahan yang ada, terutama dalam bidang industri. Saat ini penggunaan teknologi pada industri makanan dan minuman telah berkembang begitu pesat. Inovasi mesin-mesin produksi mulai bermunculan dengan tujuan agar proses produksi lebih efektif dan efisien. Bahan dari mesin produksi berbasis foodgrade menjadi suatu hal penting jika dikaitkan dengan proses produksi makanan dan minuman, salah satunya adalah stainless steel, selain telah memenuhi standart foodgrade, stailess steel juga merupakan bahan dengan penghantar kalor yang baik. Fokus pada penelitian ini adalah  menganalisa perpindahan panas konveksi pada mesin pengering rempah-rempah otomatis, mesin ini digunakan dalam proses produksi jamu. Uji coba mesin pengering otomatis menggunakan beban yang berupa rempah- rempah seberat 10 kg. Pengambilan data pada proses uji coba dilakukan selama 2 jam. Dimulai saat pertama kali mesin dinyalakan dan kontrol suhu diaktifkan dengan batasan suhu maksimal 70℃. Berdasarkan hasil eksperimen diperoleh bahwa energi yang dibutuhkan mesin agar bisa mencapai suhu 68°C adalah 2.428,2 KJ.

Abstract

Pandemi Covid-19 memicu banyak terjadinya permasalahan disegala aspek kehidupan termasuk aspek ekonomi. Banyak perusahaan yang terpaksa berhenti beroperasi dan harus memberhentikan karyawannya. Salah satu jenis usaha yang sedang tumbuh dan bertahan dimasa Pandemi Covid-19 ini adalah usaha kecil dan menengah (UKM). UKM merupakan usaha rumahan, dan alat yang digunakan masih terbatas, sehingga kualitas dan kuantitas produksinya msih rendah. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PKM)  ini bertujuan untuk membantu meningkatkan kualitas dan kuantitas produk UKM mitra yaitu “Tepung Bumbu Nusantara” yang berada di Kecamatan Sukodono Kabupaten Sidoarjo. Pelaksanaan program dibagi menjadi tiga bagian yaitu pembuatan dan penerapan mesin pencampur tepung dari bahan foodgrade, pelatihan manajemen produksi, dan pelatihan manajemen pemasaran. Hasil yang didapatkan dari program PKM ini adalah sebagai berikut. (1) mesin pencampur tepung dari bahan foodgrade yang efektif dan efisien, (2) meningkatkan pemahaman mitra dalam manajemen produksi, dan (3)  meningkatkan pemahaman mitra dalam manajemen pemasaran. Pencapaian tersebut diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kualitas dan kuantitas produk dari UKM, sehingga dapat menjadi lapangan pekerjaan bagi masyarakat disekitar lokasi UKM tersebut.

Abstract

"UD. ADON JAYA" is a small business that produces salted eggs. Based on direct observation of partner salted egg processing still using conventional methods that require salted egg production time up to eight days. Original salted egg results with a shorter shelf life, which only lasts for seven days. Boiling salted eggs still has a fairly fishy odor. Many boiled eggs are also cracked and broken due to stacking and high boiling temperatures. Procurement and application of an automatic salted egg oven equipped with an exhaust fan, thermocontroll and timer has a capacity of up to 600 eggs with a process that takes five hours. The implementation of this community empowerment service activity is carried out through several stages, namely discussion, observation, and implementation. The results of good condition egg production using the tool every week have increased, besides that it can also be seen that the average percentage of egg dredging using the tool is 5%. The implementation of this activity solves the problem of production aspects to improve the quality and quantity of salted egg production "UD. ADON JAYA" to have a longer shelf life, free of fishy odor, no cracked or broken eggs to meet market demand and solve the problem of weak production management and financial management of partner businesses.

Abstract

This service aims to overcome the problem of paper waste management to destroy unnecessary archives at the partner, namely the Directorate of Law and Administration of Surabaya State University. At the partner, the destruction process is carried out by shredding using scissors and tearing it into pieces. This method is ineffective and inefficient because it requires a lot of energy and a long time. In fact, in forced conditions, burning is carried out. This creates new problems, namely in the long term it will encourage climate change and environmental pollution. The solution to solving this problem is to process paper waste using a waste shredding machine to increase the recycling process and reduce the impact of climate change due to waste burning. The implementation method includes socialization of PKM-LK to partners, activity planning stage, manufacturing stage, paper shredding machine function test stage, training and mentoring stage, TTG (Appropriate Technology) implementation stage, and monitoring and evaluation stage. The results of the activity show that using a waste paper shredder machine is effective, efficient, and can reduce climate pollution due to waste burning with the number of sheets of paper processed per hour ± 2570 sheets, and the total weight of paper processed ± 12.83 kg. The recommendation from this study is to expand the market, machines can be designed with varying capacities, from small scale for SMEs to large scale for companies.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to improve the quality of basic mechanical engineering learning at Sekolah Indonesia Davao (SID) through the application of innovative and effective learning media. SID has limited access to basic mechanical engineering learning materials, and there is no media that makes it easier to understand the material. To overcome this problem, the community service activity implementation team implemented basic engineering learning media aimed for junior high and high school levels. The implementation methods included identifying partner problems, determining solutions, implementing media, monitoring, and compiling reports. The results of the implementation of this activity showed that the basic mechanical engineering learning media has been handed over to the partner on May 28, 2024, and training on how to operate the media has been carried out. This activity also received a positive response from the partner, because it made a significant contribution to improving the understanding and skills of students at SID in the field of mechanical engineering, as well as strengthening cooperation between Surabaya State University and SID in the field of education.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya kemandirian belajar siswa dalam menghadapi tantangan pendidikan di era digital. Media pembelajaran interaktif seperti Google Sites diyakini dapat memberikan pengalaman belajar yang fleksibel, menarik, dan mendukung pengembangan kemandirian siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh penggunaan Google Sites terhadap kemandirian belajar siswa serta membandingkan tingkat kemandirian belajar siswa yang menggunakan media ini dengan yang tidak. Rumusan masalah penelitian adalah: (1) Apakah penggunaan media pembelajaran interaktif Google Sites berpengaruh terhadap kemandirian belajar siswa? (2) Apakah terdapat perbedaan kemandirian belajar siswa antara media pembelajaran interaktif Google Sites dengan tanpa media tersebut? Populasi penelitian terdiri dari 120 siswa Teknik Kendaraan Ringan di SMKN 7 Surabaya. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan cluster random sampling, dengan 33 siswa sebagai kelas kontrol dan 34 siswa sebagai kelas eksperimen. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji t. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media pembelajaran interaktif Google Sites berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kemandirian belajar siswa. Siswa di kelas eksperimen memiliki tingkat kemandirian belajar yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan siswa di kelas kontrol. Selain itu, terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kemandirian belajar siswa yang menggunakan Google Sites dan yang tidak. Penelitian ini memberikan manfaat praktis dengan menunjukkan efektivitas Google Sites dalam meningkatkan kemandirian belajar siswa. Hasil ini dapat menjadi referensi bagi pendidik dalam mengintegrasikan teknologi ke dalam pembelajaran untuk mendukung pembelajaran mandiri.

Abstract

Suspension technology on the vehicle provides a comforting effect with shock absorbers and a safety effect in driving and reducing the accident rate. The suspension system was developed by changing the construction and mechanism as well as the addition of a control element. Variable Geometry Suspension (VGS) is the development of a suspension system by using an active actuator is Single-link which is used to change the geometry of the suspension. Geometry change can affect the performance of the suspension system, so a modeling approach is needed to analyze the performance of the VGS system. The VGS modeling uses a quarter-vehicle model and a multi-body model with an equation of motion system using a Kineto-dynamic model with a double-wishbone suspension type. The analysis method on the VGS uses input is bumpy-road to obtain system performance in body acceleration, suspension deflection, and tire deformation. The results of the VGS with the Kineto-dynamic model has a range of 2 mm in the variation of the single-link angle, the performance values ??in the body acceleration and tire deformation between the quarter-vehicle and multi-body models have the same oscillations until steady, while the suspension deflection in the Kineto-dynamic model differs in the first oscillation with a steady time of 1.6 seconds. Therefore, the Kineto-dynamic model can be used to approximate the actual system.
