Abstract

Objective: This study investigates the influence of family and school environments on developing technopreneur behavior among vocational school students in East Java, Indonesia. The research aims to determine the extent to which these two factors contribute to fostering students' entrepreneurial skills in technology-driven businesses. Method: The research employs an ex post facto design, utilizing Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to analyze data collected from 396 Fashion Design Skills program students. Data were gathered through tests and questionnaires, measuring students' technopreneur behavior, family environment, and school environment. Instrument validation was conducted using the Content Validity Ratio (CVR), item-total correlation, and Rasch model analysis. Results: The findings reveal that family and school environments significantly influence technopreneur behavior among vocational students. The family environment contributes 29.1%, while the school environment contributes 44.9% to developing technopreneur behavior. The combined influence of both factors explains 75.5% of the variation in students' technopreneur behavior. The study underscores the importance of supportive families and conducive school environments in fostering entrepreneurial mindsets among students. Novelty: This study provides empirical evidence on the combined role of family and school in shaping technopreneur behavior among vocational students, emphasizing the need for an integrated approach to entrepreneurship education. It highlights the importance of strategic curriculum design, teacher training, and family engagement in developing future technopreneurs.

Abstract

Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) abroad often face various social, legal, and cultural challenges that can increase their vulnerability in everyday life. One effort to minimize these vulnerabilities is through the establishment of regional community organizations as a platform for solidarity, advocacy, and cultural identity preservation. This community service activity aims to assist in the formation of the Ikatan Warga Ponorogo di Hong Kong (IWPH) — an association of PMI from Ponorogo working in Hong Kong. The methods employed include community needs assessment, facilitation of organizational meetings, formulation of organizational statutes and bylaws, and basic community-based advocacy training. The results of this activity showed high enthusiasm among PMI from Ponorogo to participate in this community as a forum for sharing information, social protection, and preserving regional cultural traditions abroad. Moreover, IWPH has begun to actively voice issues faced by PMI, such as overcharging, gender-based violence, and unclear employment contracts. The establishment of IWPH is expected to serve as a model for strengthening social networks and advocacy based on regional community groups, enhancing the bargaining power of Indonesian migrant workers abroad. This activity also reflects the contribution of higher education institutions in supporting the protection and empowerment of Indonesian migrant workers in various destination countries.

Abstract

A successful education provider is one that produces graduates who can apply their knowledge and skills in the real world. This study aims to examine the 2022 graduate profile through a tracer study and identify factors that influence their competencies. Using a descriptive quantitative approach, the study involved 471 graduates from 13 study programs at the Faculty of Engineering. Data collection techniques using questionnaires and analyzed using factor analysis with the help of SPSS. Results show that the average waiting time for graduates to secure their first job is 4.28 months. Most alumni reported that their jobs were very closely (31%) or closely (30%) related to their field of study. The study identified 27 competency-supporting factors, which were grouped into two main components through factor analysis. Combined, these components influence alumni competence by 68.056%. The findings indicate that the curriculum and graduate profile developed by the study programs remain relevant to industry needs. Therefore, universities should adopt a holistic educational approach that balances academic knowledge with character development, ethics, and soft skills. Strengthening collaboration with industry and continuously updating the curriculum are key steps to ensure graduates stay relevant and competitive in the job market.

Abstract

The study findings indicate that the developed media was rated as "highly feasible" by media and subject matter experts. Classroom implementation received a "very good" response from students, who found it easier to comprehend the material. Furthermore, student learning outcomes improved significantly, with 100% successfully completing the post-test. The N-gain test results categorized the effectiveness of the simulation-based learning media as "moderate." Thus, this media has proven to be an effective and safe tool for enhancing students' understanding of AC electrical systems.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to improve the quality of basic mechanical engineering learning at Sekolah Indonesia Davao (SID) through the application of innovative and effective learning media. SID has limited access to basic mechanical engineering learning materials, and there is no media that makes it easier to understand the material. To overcome this problem, the community service activity implementation team implemented basic engineering learning media aimed for junior high and high school levels. The implementation methods included identifying partner problems, determining solutions, implementing media, monitoring, and compiling reports. The results of the implementation of this activity showed that the basic mechanical engineering learning media has been handed over to the partner on May 28, 2024, and training on how to operate the media has been carried out. This activity also received a positive response from the partner, because it made a significant contribution to improving the understanding and skills of students at SID in the field of mechanical engineering, as well as strengthening cooperation between Surabaya State University and SID in the field of education.

Abstract

Abstract

PT. Steel Pipe Industry of Indonesia, Tbk. (SPINDO) is one of the industries engaged in the manufacture of steel pipes for various needs, ranging from furniture, construction, automotive, etc. In the process of making steel pipes, there is a special treatment to slow down the corrosion rate, one of which is by dipping the pipe into anticorit oil. Some of the customers asked for special treatment on the galvanized iron square pipe to be cleaned of anticoritic oil. The problems that occur in PT. SPINDO unit 6, namely the process of cleaning pipes from anti-rust oil is still carried out by wiping the pipe surface so it takes a long time, which is 30 seconds/pipe. The purpose of this design is to determine the components, engine working mechanisms, and designs used in pipe cleaning machines from anticorit oil. With this design, it is hoped that it can become an illustration in the manufacture of anticorit oil pipes for cleaning machines for the speed up process.
