Abstract

Health risk classification is important. However, health risk classification is challenging to address using conventional analytical techniques. The XGBoost algorithm offers many advantages over the traditional methods for risk classification. Hyperparameter Optimization (HO) of XGBoost is critical for maximizing the performance of the XGBoost algorithm. The manual selection of hyperparameters requires a large amount of time and computational resources. Automatic HO is needed to avoid this problem. Several studies have shown that Bayesian Optimization (BO) works better than Grid Search (GS) or Random Search (RS). Based on these problems, this study proposes health risk classification using XGBoost with Bayesian Hyperparameters Optimization. The goal of this study is to reduce the time required to select the best XGBoost hyperparameters and improve the accuracy and generalization of XGBoost performance in health risk classification. The variables used were patient demographics and medical information, including age, blood pressure, cholesterol, and lifestyle variables. The experimental results show that the proposed approach outperforms other well-known ML techniques and the XGBoost method without HO. The average accuracy, precision, recall and f1-score produced by the proposed method are 0.926, 0.920, 0.928, and 0.923, respectively. However, improvements are needed to obtain a faster and more accurate method in the future.

Abstract

Invariant theory can be combined with coding theory to analyze the polynomial ring over its weight enumerator. For a certain class code, especially for self-dual doubly even code or type II code, the polynomials over its code satisfy the invarian condition. In this paper, we will  show that the ring of the weight enumerator over integer of self-dual doubly even code $d_{48}^+$ cannot be ganerated by the weight enumerator of self-dual doubly even code with code length n=8, 16, 24, 32 and 40.

Abstract

The debate over the universality of Universal Declaration of Human Rights remains taking place. Apart from the fact that the document remains popular and has been encouraged by many countries around the world. The debate revolves around values and cultural differences among countries claiming that Western values have been predominating the content of the declaration itself. This essay argues that the dispute towards the universality of UDHR would likely form a robust standard and values of internationally recognized human rights as long as a cross-cultural and cross-philosophical talk could be encouraged.

Abstract

The rise of Islamic extremism has prompted global Islamophobia and general hatred for Muslims, which is felt towards both the religion itself and ethno-religious groups such as the one present in China. The spread and acts of Islamic extremism in China might surprise the global community but the concerning level of threat on the issue affected domestic security policies. In explaining the case study, the qualitative research uses a combination of descriptive and explanatory approaches while simultaneously merging the three constructivist theory approaches from notable scholars such as Alexander Wendt, Martha Finnemore and Peter Katzenstein. The research concludes that while there may be variations of methods to combat Islamic extremism, the implementation of political re-education camp for the Uyghurs seems to be the best and most effective method in both de-extremizing the minority group from potential Islamic extremist ideology and enforcing the Chinese government’s interests. Justifications of the choice include the constructivist aspects of the international norms, repetition of historical and existing trajectories as well as the successful rate of cleansing troubled and infected people from negative ideologies based on the Chinese societal norms.

Abstract

Cervical cancer remains a significant health problem, especially in developing countries. Early detection is critical for effective treatment. Convolutional neural networks (CNN) have shown promise in automated cervical cancer screening, but their performance depends on pap smear image quality. This study investigates the impact of various image preprocessing techniques on CNN performance for cervical cancer classification using the SIPaKMeD dataset. Three preprocessing techniques were evaluated: PeronaMalik diffusion (PMD) filter for noise reduction, contrast-limited adaptive histogram equalization (CLAHE) for image contrast enhancement, and the proposed hybrid PMD filter-CLAHE approach. The enhanced image datasets were evaluated on pretrained models, such as ResNet-34, ResNet-50, SqueezeNet-1.0, MobileNet-V2, EfficientNet-B0, EfficientNet-B1, DenseNet121, and DenseNet-201. The results show that hybrid preprocessing PMD filter-CLAHE can improve the pap smear image quality and CNN architecture performance compared to the original images. The maximum metric improvements are 13.62% for accuracy, 10.04% for precision, 13.08% for recall, and 14.34% for F1-score. The proposed hybrid PMD filter-CLAHE technique offers a new perspective in improving cervical cancer classification performance using CNN architectures.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) play a strategic role not only as centers for education and da'wah but also as key drivers of community economic development. However, many pesantren still rely heavily on donations and external subsidies, which hinders the achievement of true financial independence. This study aims to analyze the transformation of pesantren economic management toward self-reliance based on local wisdom, with a case study on the Badan Usaha Milik Pesantren (BUMPES) Nurul Jadid. This research employs a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and document analysis. The findings reveal that BUMPES Nurul Jadid implements a strategy of business diversification based on local potential, strengthening sharia-based governance, and utilizing technology in production and marketing. These measures enable the pesantren to generate stable and sustainable income sources.Local wisdom plays a crucial role in ensuring the sustainability of the pesantren economy by upholding the values of honesty, mutual cooperation (gotong royong), and prudent use of local resources. This transformation not only fosters the economic independence of the pesantren but also contributes to the welfare of the surrounding community. Therefore, an economic model based on local wisdom offers an effective solution for building independent and competitive pesantren without compromising Islamic values.

Abstract

classification is a serious problem. Identifying claim classification is difficult. Machine Learning (ML) can predict potential claim decisions. Support Vector Machine (SVM) is a ML model that can generalize well to test data. SVM achieves an -score of 73.39% and 89.88% with a linear kernel, 73.34% and 73.34% with Radial Basis Function (RBF) kernel. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) improves the performance, because it can find the best parameters for SVM. However, the SVM parameters found by PSO are not guaranteed to be the global optimum. Velocity Pausing PSO (VPPSO) can address this problem. SVM-VPPSO performs better compared with SVM and SVM-PSO. SVM-VPPSO with linear kernel achieves -score of 90.17%, 90.16%, and 90.06% with 10, 20, and 30 particles respectively. The linear kernel also performs better than RBF kernel with a difference of 0.39% on the testing data. The best configuration is SVM-Linear-VPPSO with 10 particles. This configuration also achieves computation time of 46.938 seconds, which faster than SVM-Linear-VPPSO with 20 particles. The variance in computational time with 10 particles is 1.832 seconds, which better than with 20 particles with variance of 37.909 seconds.

Abstract

Chinese investment has become the subject of ongoing debates in international political economy studies. In general, scholars argue that the benefits of Chinese investment not only depend on the relationship between China and host countries but also on various state capacities. Using a case study approach, this paper aims to contribute with other scholars to understand Chinese investment patterns in third-world countries, especially Indonesia. The volume of Chinese investment in Indonesia has increased significantly in recent years. This study will focus on understanding Chinese investment patterns in infrastructure in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ) on Lombok Island. This project received a loan through the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) of 692 million dollars during 2019-2024. This paper argues that Chinese investment has contributed to complex policy-making dynamics at the national and sub-national levels.
