Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Women on Board, Director Educational Background, and Intellectual Capital (IC) on banking performance as measured by ROA and ROE in the 2016-2020 period. This study adopts the Value Added Intellectual Coefficient (VAIC) as an IC indicator, but adds a focus on the implications of individual components on company performance. The results of the study reveal that VAIC has a direct positive significant effect on ROA and ROE. The percentage of women on the board of directors was found to have a significant negative effect on ROA and ROE. The educational background (Edu) of the board of directors shows a positive and insignificant effect on ROA and ROE. The results of the analysis of the individual components of VAIC show that HCE has a significant positive effect on ROE, which means that banks prefer HCE as a financial predictor that can increase the bank's ability to generate net income for investors. Meanwhile, for ROA indicators, banks prefer CEE to be an important component to improve performance, in line with research results which show a significant positive effect. In line with technological developments, the bank is very focused and considers human resources the most to increase profitability.

Abstract

This study investigates whether CEO busyness have an impact on company performance, and if this relationship is moderated by female CEOs by analyzing all company sectors apart from finance, insurance, and property that are included in the Kompas 100 index listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in the 2017-2020 period. Our findings have shown that the presence of a busy CEO will cause a decrease in company performance. In addition, we also found that negative relationship is stronger in companies whose CEOs are female. For firms and shareholders, our findings indicate that it is not a good idea for CEOs to hold more than one outside directorships, especially those who occupy the position of CEO are female. Our results suggest that restrictions on CEO busyness would be beneficial to shareholders.

Abstract

Peer-to-Peer (P2P) fintech services are increasingly popular in line with the government's tangible form and accelerated penetration of people who are not yet fully accessible by banking institutions. However, the acceptance of P2P technology by the public does not only depend on government regulations but also needs to understand its users' perspectives and knowledge so they can adapt to digital transformation in the financial services industry. This study aims to identify the potential factors that influence the attitude and adoption of fintech by P2P users in Batam City. The research sample was taken using the purposive sampling method, with a total sample that met the criteria of as many as 365 of the 422 respondents collected via Google form. All data were analyzed using the Smart PLS 3 program. The results prove that perceived usefulness, ease of use, risk, user innovativeness and government support significantly influence attitudes toward the intention to adopt fintech. Meanwhile, financial literacy does not affect users' attitudes toward adopting fintech. This research contributes to the literature on fintech adoption by expanding TAM and is expected to provide valuable insights.
