Abstract

The Crusades were a series of military conflicts involving European Christian powers and the Islamic world in the Middle East during the 11th to 13th centuries. These conflicts had impacts far beyond the military realm, affecting various aspects of civilization, including politics, society, economy, and culture in both hemispheres. For Islamic civilization, the Crusades accelerated the process of political consolidation and spurred the development of more organized military strategies, as well as encouraging increased mobilization of resources to defend their territories. In contrast, for Europe, the Crusades contributed to economic transformation by opening new trade routes, intellectual influence through contact with the Islamic world, and changes in social and political structures that strengthened the power of the church and kingdom. This study highlights the impact of the mutual influence between the two civilizations and explains how the Crusades shaped the dynamics of Christian-Islamic relations that continue to resonate in world history until the modern era.

Abstract

The Mamluk Dynasty, which ruled Egypt from 1250 to 1517, was founded by military slaves (mamluks) originally from regions such as the Caucasus. Despite their origins as slaves, the mamluks rose to power and established a strong political, economic, and cultural civilization. The dynasty's rise began after the death of Sultan al-Malik al-Salih, when his son Sultan Turan Shah's reign was overthrown by the mamluks, leading to the ascension of Syajarah al-Dur, the first female ruler of the Mamluk Sultanate. The Mamluks secured military victories, including the Battle of Ayn Jalut against the Mongols, which significantly contributed to the stability of the region. They also advanced the economy through trade, agriculture, and efficient irrigation techniques. Culturally, the Mamluks left a lasting legacy in architecture, building grand mosques and educational institutions. However, internal divisions, external threats from the Ottoman Empire, economic decline, and corruption eventually led to the fall of the dynasty in 1517. The Mamluk Dynasty’s period is a testament to the rise of an elite military class and their influence in shaping Islamic civilization during their rule.

Abstract

This research describes the effect of using Big Book media based on peer tutors to cognitive abilities in the fifth-grade students at MIN 1 Makassar. This research used quantitative methods with a pre-experimental design one-shot case study. The sample of this study was 57 fifth-grade students. The results of this research have been obtained. First, the use of Big Book media based on peer tutors in the fifth-grade students of MIN 1 Makassar was in the good category with an average value in the interval 113-118. Second, the cognitive abilities were fairly high at intervals of 66-76. Third, the hypothesis test results using one sample t-test analysis indicated the effect of using Big Book media based on peer tutors on the students’ cognitive abilities. Therefore, this study is expected to be a consideration for schools and teachers to use Big Book media to accommodate students' learning needs. Abstrak: Penelitian ini menjelaskan pengaruh penggunaan media Big Book berbasis tutor sebaya terhadap kemampuan kognitif siswa kelas V di MIN 1 Makassar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain pre-experimental one-shot case study. Sampel penelitian ini sevanyak 57 siswa kelas V. Hasil penelitian yang telah diperoleh, pertama, penggunaan media Big Book berdasarkan tutor sebaya pada siswa kelas V MIN 1 Makassar berada pada kategori baik dengan nilai rata-rata pada interval 113-118. Kedua, kemampuan kognitif cukup tinggi dengan interval 66-76. Ketiga, hasil uji hipotesis dengan menggunakan analisis one sample t-test menunjukkan adanya pengaruh penggunaan media Big Book berbasis tutor sebaya terhadap kemampuan kognitif siswa. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi bahan pertimbangan bagi sekolah dan guru untuk menggunakan media Big Book yang mampu mengakomodasi kebutuhan belajar peserta didik.

Abstract

Madrasah culture encompasses the values, beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors that are regularly patterned and reflect habits aimed at adapting to the environment, as well as the madrasah's perspective on problem-solving. These cultural elements are shaped through the institution's history and experience. This paper presents the findings of research that investigates the extent to which madrasah culture influences student discipline. The study employs an ex post facto design with a quantitative approach. The research sample consisted of students from a madrasah in Makassar City, selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected via questionnaires and analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. The results indicate a significant influence of madrasah culture on student discipline. These findings underscore the importance of strengthening student discipline through the cultivation of madrasah culture, particularly within the context of the studied institution. Abstrak: Budaya madrasah mencakup nilai-nilai, keyakinan, sikap, dan perilaku yang terpolakan secara rutin, mencerminkan kebiasaan untuk beradaptasi dengan lingkungan, serta perspektif madrasah dalam memecahkan masalah. Elemen-elemen budaya ini terbentuk melalui sejarah dan pengalaman institusi tersebut. Artikel ini menyajikan hasil penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mengkaji sejauh mana budaya madrasah memengaruhi disiplin siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain ex post facto dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari siswa di sebuah madrasah di Kota Makassar, yang dipilih melalui teknik pengambilan sampel acak sederhana. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner dan dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan inferensial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya pengaruh budaya madrasah terhadap disiplin siswa. Temuan ini menekankan pentingnya memperkuat disiplin siswa melalui budaya madrasah yang telah dibangun, khususnya dalam konteks institusi yang diteliti.

Abstract

Pokok masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah mengenai perspektif hukum Islam terkait ritual massoppo’i urang yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat Kabupaten Polewali Mandar khususnya di Desa Alu, Kecamatan Alu. Jenis penelitian ini termasuk penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan penelitian yakni: deskriptif, etnografi, sosio­logis dan antropologis. Adapun terdapat beberapa sumber data dalam penelitian ini yakni passoppo’i urang, tokoh ulama, tokoh agama dan tokoh masyarakat. Selanjutnya, metode pengum­pulan data yang diguna­kan adalah observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. selanjutnya, teknik pengolahan dan analisis data yang dilakukan melalui tiga tahapan, yaitu: reduksi data, penyajian data, dan pena­rikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ritual massoppo’i urang yang ada di Kabupaten Polewali Mandar menggunakan beberapa media dalam pelaksanaannya serta terdapat pantangan yang harus dihindari selama proses ritual. Berdasarkan pandangan tokoh agama dan tokoh masyarakat di Desa Alu bahwa ritual yang mereka lakukan masih tetap berada dalam jalur yang baik dan tidak bertentangan dengan hukum Islam. Adapun medianya hanya sebagai simbol bukan alat untuk meminta. Begitupun dari perspektif hukum Islam bahwa ritual ini dapat dilakukan dan tidak menyalahi hukum Islam sepanjang tidak menggantungkan harapan atau doa mereka kepada media atau atas keahlian dari passoppo’i urang.

Abstract

The type of research is a survey. The location is at the Barombong Maritime Polytechnic campus, Makassar, South Sulawesi. The population is 204 people. A sample of 51 people was drawn using a purposive random sampling technique. Data collection techniques: questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques: frequency tables, simple linear regression, and multiple regression. Conclusions of the study: (1) character building, worship discipline, worship motivation, and worship behavior in cadets of the Barombong Maritime Polytechnic, Makassar, South Sulawesi are categorized as moderate or need to be improved in worship activities as a Muslim, (2) character building, worship discipline, and worship motivation have a good effect both individually and together on worship behavior in cadets of the Barombong Maritime Polytechnic, Makassar, South Sulawesi. Character building, discipline, and motivation in worship according to Islamic teachings help cadets to behave positively and avoid negative behavior. Cadets will realize that committing sins will bring bad consequences, both in the world and in the hereafter. This can motivate cadets to avoid behavior that is detrimental to themselves and others. One of the efforts to improve character building, discipline, and motivation of cadets, Barombong Maritime Polytechnic has formed a character building center for cadets and students in the form of a permanent daily command (PHST) for cadets. Implications of the study: (1) factors of character building, worship discipline, and worship motivation were found to influence the worship behavior of Barombong Maritime Polytechnic cadets. Therefore, it is necessary to get attention from leaders, lecturers, instructors, and cadet mentors so that the worship behavior of cadets can be further improved, (2) participation of parents and families is very necessary, especially when cadets are on cruises so that they continue to pay attention to worship behavior when at home, and (3) the factors studied in this study are still limited. Therefore, it is necessary to continue to study other factors that are different from this study.

Abstract

The research aims to identify the management strategies implemented by the head of the madrasa to improve the quality of learning, understand the implementation of these management strategies in daily practices, and analyze the impact of these strategies on the quality of learning and student achievement. This study employs a descriptive research design. Data collection was conducted using interview guidelines, observation sheets, and documentation. The findings reveal that (1) the management strategies applied by the head of the madrasa to enhance learning quality include strategies for: improving teacher professionalism; optimizing the learning process; enhancing academic and non-academic achievements; fulfilling facilities and infrastructure; managing financing; fostering community relations; and conducting supervision and evaluation. (2) The implementation of management strategies by the head of the madrasa in daily practices includes: organizing regular study sessions and seminars; allowing teachers to take study leave for further education; optimizing extracurricular guidance; procuring appropriate and planned facilities and infrastructure; promoting discipline; and recognizing class rankings and overall performance. (3) The application of management strategies by the head of the madrasa positively impacts learning quality and student achievement, leading to improvements in teaching quality, increased discipline and performance among teachers, development of teacher competencies, motivation and appreciation for teachers, effective management of facilities and infrastructure, enhanced student achievements, innovative and sustainable learning practices, and strengthened collaboration with parents/guardians and the community. Abstract

Islam will not be destroyed by physical destruction. The devastating blow of the Mongol troops that killed millions of Muslims actually raised the spirit of Muslims to unite. The land of Syria, which was previously hostile to Egypt, finally united against the Mongol troops and forgot their hostility. With unity, they won the war of 'Ain Jalut. This study is a historical study to see the incident of the Mongol attack on Muslim territory. In this study, the researcher used a qualitative descriptive approach with a data collection method from library data. As is common in historical studies, the best data is data that is closest in tempo to the event being discussed. This study begins with data coding, data reduction and drawing conclusions as is commonly used in qualitative analysis. The results of the study show that the defeat of the Muslims against the Mongols was not only because the Mongol troops were trained in war, but also due to the internal weaknesses of the Muslims. Muslim countries were divided and many of their rulers and people lived in worldly luxury which caused them to be unprepared to carry out jihad.

Abstract

In current conditions, educational problems occur due to the increasing number of things and factors that influence the development of students' social attitudes. Therefore, it is the task of educators to save and maintain the value of their social attitudes through social studies learning because they are physically and psychologically different. This study uses a qualitative type. In this study, the researchers took the place/location carried out at MI Quba, Sorong City. The research approach used is a combination. In this case, Nasution stated, “The analysis has started since formulating and explaining the problem, before going into the field, and continuing until the writing of research results. Cultivating Social Attitudes Through Social Studies Learning in Class V/A Students of MI Quba Sorong City can be instilled through social studies learning by instilling the values ​​of social attitudes in students with social studies learning strategies, the teacher's ability to provide examples of good interaction attitudes to students in the classroom. Results of Implanting Social Attitudes in Class V/A Students Through Social Studies Learning for Class V/A Students at MI Quba Sorong City has been embedded with the "Good" category. Abstract

This study tries to find out the problems of learning using the chili play method at Raudhatul Atfal Darul Ulum, Sorong City, for the 2020/2021 academic year. The author uses learning analysis to find problems that arise and solutions to these problems. This paper finds some of the problems faced by students and educators at RA Darul Ulum and solutions to these problems.
