Abstract

The existence of COVID-19 in Indonesia was officially announced by the president in March 2020 before the virus emerged in Wuhan China. School closure was conducted and the policy of distant learning was officially released by the Ministry of Education. This research aimed to find the challenges that teachers in Indonesia encountered during the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak and how teachers overcome the learning process challenges. The study was conducted towards primary school teachers in some provinces in Indonesia through an online survey with close-ended and open- ended questions. Our research findings showed teachers encounter challenges that include the disturbance in teaching and learning regarding accessibility, learning quality, school-home relationship, and technology awareness. Teachers also changed their ways of teaching by sending the learning materials via Google Classroom, WhatsApp (cross-platform messaging), and a few still conducted face-to- face meetings with strict policies.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic occurred in Indonesia in early March 2020 which was then followed by learning from home policy. The purpose of this study is to gather information through a survey about the implementation of online learning conducted by teachers who provide inclusive education service at the elementary schools. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The data collected by using a survey technique and then a descriptive analysis is conducted with a total of 80 respondents who are scattered in several provinces in Indonesia. The results show that teachers' knowledge of COVID-19 needs improvement and a few teachers still believe that COVID-19 is a conspiracy. The learning process during the COVID-19 pandemic has made teachers make changes in the teaching and learning process, but not all teachers use television programs as a medium of learning. The ability of teachers to use ICT helps them in providing educational services and the majority have no difficulty using learning applications. Although at the beginning of the pandemic, it was difficult to adapt to learning, until this article is written the teachers have been adapting their teaching approaches. Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of the differentiated learning model as a strategy to enhance social skills in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Adopting a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, data were gathered through observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis at inclusive elementary schools in Bandung, Indonesia, that have incorporated differentiated learning models. The findings reveal that the application of the differentiated learning model involves key stages such as identifying students' needs, setting learning objectives, adjusting the curriculum, differentiating instruction, offering varied final product options, modifying the learning environment, and conducting continuous evaluations. These stages enable teachers to design learning activities tailored to the social and emotional needs of students with ASD. The study demonstrates that these adaptations significantly enhance the social skills of students with ASD in areas such as environmental care, attention-seeking, greeting others, maintaining a positive attitude, demonstrating responsibility, actively participating in learning, and engaging in group activities. The findings suggest that differentiated learning provides a structured and responsive approach to fostering social skills development in children with ASD, with potential implications for broader educational practices.

This research describes the Sariswara Method and syntax development in Accommodating Student Diversity. This research was conducted at Kemudo 3 Elementary School. It used observation, interviews, and questionnaires as data collection techniques. The research method used is Research and Development. The method developed used the 6 steps of Borg & Gall development by Sugiyono (1) research and collecting information, (2) data collection, (3) product design, (4) expert validation, (5) product revisions, (6) and limited trials. The results of this research and development method indicate that the Sariswara method and syntax have been successfully developed. The feasibility score is a "Good" (2.8 average score) from the method validator, a "Very Good" (3.6 average scores) from the material validator, and a "Very Good" (4.0 Average score) from the teacher. The limited trial showed a "Very Good" response (86%) from students. Therefore, novelty in this research about developing the Sariswara method in the form of syntax accommodating the diversity of students in thematics learning in IV grade is feasible and can help students learn thematics material.
