Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected people with disabilities in a number of ways, including the development of post-COVID syndromes. Post-COVID syndrome is a condition that affects individuals who have recovered from COVID-19 but continue to experience a variety of symptoms, such as fatigue, shortness of breath and cognitive impairment. This article examines the impact of post-COVID syndrome on students with disabilities and reveals new investigations and treatment methods for post-COVID syndrome. This study uses the literature review method. This study found that post-COVID syndrome can significantly affect the academic performance and mental health of students with disabilities, requiring a multidisciplinary treatment approach. This article recommends implementing an individualized support plan, including accommodation, mental health services, and physical rehabilitation, to address the unique needs of each student with post-COVID syndrome. It also emphasizes the importance of further research to improve understanding of post-COVID syndromes in people with disabilities.

Abstract

Various interventions aimed at addressing sensory challenges are available for Down Syndrome children, but interventions made based on the results of sensory intervention are exciting challenges to research. This study aims to determine the improvement of sensory abilities through stimuli designed based on the results of sensory. This study used a pre-post quantitative method that measured the sensory skills of Down syndrome children. The study was conducted on 8 participants of Down Syndrome children for 12 months. Data analyzed using the Wilcoxon rank test obtained an Asymp value. Sig. (2-tailed) or p-value < 0.05 so that the conclusion is rejected H0 or sufficient evidence that the pretest and post-test sensory development values are different and Asymp values are obtained. The application of examination-based sensory interventions reportedly provided significant improvements in sensory skills in 8 Down Syndrome children after receiving based interventions by following procedures and validated interventions in the form of guidance for parents for 12 months of routine home interventions.

Abstract

This research aims to identify students with special needs, create their profiles, and design appropriate intervention programs. A qualitative method with a case study design was used with data collection instruments in the form of observation, documentation and interviews. Research subjects included school principals, teachers, regular students, children with special needs, and parents. The research was conducted in class IV of SDN Purwasari, Subang Regency, with a focus on identifying aspects of reading, writing and arithmetic. The results of the analysis show that one student, DI, has the lowest score in all three aspects. The next step is to prioritize the reading aspect because DI is not yet able to read. The reading assessment was carried out in three parts, and the results showed that DI still had difficulty answering questions or commands. Teachers are expected to design intervention programs on aspects of visual perception and phonological awareness before entering beginning reading material.

More specifically, it focuses on the four stages of sexual response—Excitement/Arousal Response, Plateau Response, Orgasm Response, and Resolution Response—within the context of mental health. The primary objective of this research endeavor is to garner insights into the navigation and response of these individuals to sexual experiences within the framework of romantic relationships, as well as to comprehend the impact of said experiences on their mental well-being. To achieve this objective, a qualitative exploratory approach was employed, with the participants being seven adolescent blind females ranging in age from 16 to 19 years old. It is noteworthy that these individuals were interviewed at a specialized school for the visually impaired in West Java. The findings unveiled that sensory experiences, communication with partners, and societal misconceptions significantly influence the sexual response experiences of young Blind females, which in turn are intertwined with their mental well-being. This research aims to understand how young blind women's sexuality and mental health intersect in romantic relationships.

Abstract

Initial reading difficulties are a phenomenon that occurs almost every school year in elementary school. In response to this phenomenon, the services developed are remedial learning services. In its implementation, remedial learning services are still a debate. On the one hand, remedial services look more at the effectiveness of activity implementation, but on the other hand still do not answer the holistic needs of students. This research was developed with the aim of developing intervention strategies in serving the reading learning needs of students with reading difficulties without having to serve them in specialized classes. The subjects in this study were two students with initial reading difficulties in the third grade of one of the public schools in East Jakarta. This research method is a mixed method. In the first stage, an assessment of reading difficulties was carried out on students. Furthermore, the required strategy is developed and finally analyzes the effectiveness of the strategy used through visual graphs of the achievement of intervention results. The results of this study suggest that through the intervention strategies developed can provide opportunities to improve students' early reading skills. These results have an implication on the development of educational service models for students with beginning reading difficulties in improving beginning reading skills.

Abstract

The implementation of Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Education in Special Schools is starting to get special attention. Having a Special Program designed for Children with Special Needs is an important factor that SRH’s material must be taught in Special Schools. However, in reality this Special Program is not comprehensive in delivering SRH’s material, so that it is widely spread in several other subjects such as Sciences, Religion, Character, Sports and Citizenship Education. The research aims to see the implementation of the SRH learning model in an integrated approach with those subjects that conducted by teachers in West Java, East Java and North Sumatra. Research method uses the action research approach which focuses on four stages of research namely planning, action, observation and reflection. The subjects of the study are 41 teachers from three provinces who teach Sciences, Religion, Character, Sports, Citizenship Education and Special Program. The results of the study show that the integrated SRH model through special programs and subjects can be implemented properly. This can be shown from the number of teachers as many as 41 people who implement this integrated SRH learning model showing a presentation rate of 60.97% with good implementation results. This result calculated from total teachers spread across seven schools in West Java, East Java and North Sumatra.

Abstract

Introducing money is a self-development skill for children with intellectual disabilities that is very important in their lives. However, this is often a problem and is misunderstood by children with intellectual disabilities. This confusion occurs because they are often presented directly as money, while their value and function are not well understood. As a result, the direct use of money as a medium becomes less attractive, has no meaning, and is only used as a toy that has no direction. The purpose of this research is to develop an Android-based learning medium that can help people with intellectual disabilities understand money as a whole. This study uses a mixed method with a sequential exploratory model design. This application test uses the Black Box, and the results show that the JARIMU application can be used operationally properly. Based on the feasibility test, the JARIMU application has a very good acceptance rate with a percentage of 86.029%. The implications of these findings are suggested to be applied by schools or teachers in introducing money for children with intellectual disabilities.
