Abstract

This study aims to analyse the effectiveness of using Scratch coding-based learning media in increasing primary school students' motivation to learn mathematics. The study used a qualitative descriptive approach with six fourth-grade students from MI IT Nurul Iman Punung as subjects. Data were collected through observation, practical tests, and questionnaires assessing aspects of attention, active participation, perseverance, confidence, and enjoyment of learning. The results showed that the use of Scratch significantly increased the motivation to learn mathematics in all students. Male students excelled in programming logic and technical exploration, while female students excelled in visual creativity and social collaboration. An important finding from this study is that Scratch-based learning is able to create an interactive, enjoyable, and meaningful learning atmosphere, thereby changing students' perceptions of mathematics from a difficult subject to an interesting and contextual activity. The conclusion of the study confirms that Scratch is effective as an innovative learning medium for fostering intrinsic motivation, logical thinking, and creativity in students in 21st-century learning.

Abstract

Vocational education essentially emphasizes the development of practical competencies that are in line with the needs of the job market. To achieve deep learning, pedagogical practices in vocational education environments must integrate methodologies that increase student engagement and encourage interaction with learning materials and digital literacy. This study aims to analyze the relevance between teachers' pedagogical practices and students' digital literacy in supporting deep learning in vocational schools and the factors that influence it. The research method used was descriptive qualitative with the research location at SMKS Muhammadiyah 6 Rogojampi. The research subjects were mathematics teachers, curriculum coordinators, and 11th grade Light Vehicle Engineering students. Data were collected through interviews, student questionnaires, and documentation to obtain a comprehensive picture of the application of pedagogical practices and digital literacy skills in deep learning. The results of the study indicate that the pedagogical practices of teachers at SMKS Muhammadiyah 6 Rogojampi are quite relevant to the principles of deep learning, particularly in terms of encouraging active student engagement, digital literacy-based learning, and strengthening critical thinking skills. However, students' digital literacy levels still vary, with some students not yet optimally utilizing digital technology for knowledge exploration and collaborative learning. In addition, there are several key factors that influence the relevance of pedagogical practices and students' digital literacy, namely teachers' pedagogical and digital competencies, the readiness of school technology infrastructure, students' level of digital literacy, and support from school management. Significantly, this study shows that the relevance between pedagogical practices and digital literacy is key to developing deep learning in vocational schools. The successful implementation of deep learning in vocational schools is greatly influenced by teachers' ability to integrate reflective pedagogical approaches with the continuous strengthening of students' digital literacy.

Abstract

Dalam meningkatkan sikap kritis dan kreatif di PAUD, masih ada masalah besar, terutama ketika pendekatan pembelajaran belum sepenuhnya kontekstual dan bermakna bagi anak, serta kurangnya pemanfaatan potensi lokal sebagai sumber belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi potensi lokal sebagai sumber pembelajaran kontekstual dalam Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini (PAUD) melalui pendekatan deep learning. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode studi kasus untuk mengeksplorasi integrasi potensi lokal dalam pembelajaran di PAUD. Studi ini melibatkan 15 anak dari kelompok B di PAUD Aisyiyah Kartoharjo. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi partisipatif, wawancara semi-terstruktur dengan guru dan orang tua, serta dokumentasi kegiatan anak selama proses pembelajaran proyek berlangsung. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa panduan observasi, pedoman wawancara, dan dokumen. Proses reduksi, penyajian, dan penarikan kesimpulan dilakukan untuk menganalisis data yang dikumpulkan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model ini meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan kreatif secara efektif. Studi ini juga mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor pendukung seperti kemitraan dengan masyarakat dan sumber belajar lokal, serta kendala seperti keterbatasan lahan dan kemampuan guru untuk mengintegrasikan teknologi. Rekomendasi diberikan untuk meningkatkan efektivitas pembelajaran kontekstual meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan anak usia dini dengan menyelaraskan potensi lokal dan inovasi pembelajaran

Abstract

Limited chemistry laboratory facilities and infrastructure in schools result in suboptimal implementation of practicums. This condition makes it difficult for students to understand abstract chemical concepts due to a lack of direct experimental experience. This study aims to describe students' perceptions of the use of PhET virtual simulations in chemistry learning at SMA Muhammadiyah Sampit and to identify the advantages and limitations of its use as an alternative to practicums. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The research subjects were students at SMA Muhammadiyah Sampit who had used PhET simulations. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the majority of students had a positive perception of the use of PhET simulations because they helped visualize abstract chemical concepts, increased learning motivation, and provided a safe and flexible practicum experience. Obstacles encountered included limited device access, unstable internet connections, and the need for teacher guidance in using the simulations.

Abstract

Character education is a crucial foundation for developing a competitive and integrated generation. The Pancasila Student Profile (P3) offers an alternative approach to instilling character values from an early age, encompassing six main dimensions (Kadir, 2023). Ki Hadjar Dewantara (1962) emphasised that family, school, and community, as the three centres of education, play a strategic role in shaping children's character, including through parenting activities. This study examines: (1) designing parenting activities to foster the character of the Pancasila Student Profile, (2) creative ideas in parenting programs to strengthen character values, and (3) internal and external obstacles in their implementation. The method used was a descriptive qualitative approach, involving informants from the principal, teachers, and parents. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analysed using the Miles & Huberman model. The results show that the parenting program at KB Al Hidayah Pacul Permai incorporates structured planning, positive habit formation methods, role models, and parental involvement, along with creative initiatives such as Family Gatherings, Market Days, and Home Activities. Despite these obstacles, collaboration between schools and parents is key to the program's success.

Abstract

Strengthening teacher competence is a strategic effort to improve the quality of learning at the junior high school level. Current educational challenges require teachers not only to master subject content and teaching methods but also to design and implement deep learning approaches integrated with value-based character education. This community service program aimed to enhance the conceptual understanding and pedagogical skills of teachers at SMP Negeri 20 Malang in integrating deep learning with character value reinforcement in the learning process. The program was implemented through workshops, mentoring, limited classroom implementation, and continuous evaluation. A total of 30 teachers from various subject areas participated in the activity. The results indicate a significant improvement in teachers’ understanding of deep learning, reflected in a shift from content-oriented instruction toward meaningful and reflective learning. In addition, teachers demonstrated improved competence in designing learning tools that integrate cognitive and affective dimensions as well as character values, supported by the use of authentic assessment. This program contributes to the development of contextual, sustainable, and character-oriented learning practices that support students’ holistic development.

Abstract

In the world of the industry, skilled labor is the main factor in increasing the competitiveness of companies, so the teaching factory concept  is present as a solution to equip students with practical skills that suit the needs of the industry. This study aims to describe the implementation of  the Teaching Factory model  at SMK Muhammadiyah 6 Rogojampi and its role in preparing a skilled workforce that is in accordance with the needs of the industry. The research method used was qualitative descriptive with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation. The research subjects include school principals, productive teachers, students majoring in Computer and Network Engineering (TKJ), and industrial partners. The results of the study show that the implementation of the Teaching Factory at SMK Muhammadiyah 6 Rogojampi includes curriculum alignment, real projects, and evaluation of students' work, which is effective in improving skills and work ethic. However, challenges such as lack of sustainable projects and differences in student competencies still occur. Even so, Teaching Factory has been proven to increase job readiness if supported by industry partnerships and flexible learning strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the various barriers faced by educators in implementing professional codes of ethics amid disruptive social transformation. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the research analyzes how shifting social norms and the rapid penetration of digital technology have reshaped traditional ethical boundaries between teachers and students. These changes create new spaces of interaction that often blur the limits of professionalism. The findings reveal that teachers’ professional integrity is currently influenced by three main factors: the strong presence of digital environments beyond the classroom, inconsistent public expectations, and gaps in educators’ regulatory literacy. A lack of preparedness in responding to these dynamics can lead to ethical dilemmas that risk undermining the dignity of the teaching profession. Therefore, this study argues that partial or one-dimensional solutions are no longer sufficient. Systemic efforts are needed through the strengthening of contextual ethical literacy and protective institutional support. Such synergy is essential to ensure that educators possess not only intellectual competence but also adaptive moral resilience, enabling them to sustain their role as role models in an increasingly complex and dynamic educational environment.

Abstract

Teacher professionalism is one of the key factors in determining the quality of education. Teachers do not merely serve as conveyors of instructional content, but also as educators who shape students’ character and competencies. In practice, teacher professionalism is often associated with a teacher’s ability to perform duties effectively and demonstrate optimal performance. However, the reality on the ground shows that various factors such as workload, work environment, professional competence, and institutional support also influence teachers’ performance in carrying out their duties. This article aims to conduct a conceptual review of teacher performance within the context of educational professionalism, focusing on three main aspects: the definition of performance, factors influencing teacher performance, and indicators of teacher performance in educational practice. The method used in this study is a literature review, examining various relevant literature on teacher professionalism and educational performance. The study findings indicate that teacher performance is a manifestation of teachers’ professional ability to effectively plan, implement, and evaluate the learning process. Teacher performance is influenced by various factors, both internal and external, such as competence, motivation, school leadership, organizational culture, as well as the reward system and workload. Furthermore, indicators of teacher performance can be observed through aspects of instructional planning, instructional delivery, assessment of learning outcomes, and continuous professional development. By understanding these factors, it is hoped that efforts to enhance teacher professionalism can be carried out in a more systematic and sustainable manner, thereby improving the overall quality of education.
