Abstract

This study systematically analyzes trends, patterns, and research gaps in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) studies published in the JPPIPA Journal from 2021 to the present. A systematic review of 35 empirical articles reveals that most studies employed a quantitative approach, particularly quasi-experimental methods, to assess STEAM’s impact on student learning outcomes. Project-based learning (PjBL) and problem-based learning (PBL) were the dominant instructional models, significantly enhancing critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. Some studies integrated local wisdom and technology-based tools such as e-modules, augmented reality (AR), and e-comics to boost engagement. However, limited qualitative research explores students' and teachers' experiences, and few long-term studies assess STEAM’s sustained impact. Research remains concentrated on primary and secondary education, with minimal focus on higher or vocational education, crucial for workforce readiness. Additionally, while critical thinking skills have improved, fostering creativity remains a challenge. Future research should incorporate qualitative and mixed-methods approaches, conduct longitudinal studies, and develop reliable STEAM assessment instruments to enhance implementation across diverse educational contexts.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop an electronic student worksheet (e-LKM) based on the case study method for the Multicultural Education course, focusing on multicultural education issues in Indonesia. The study was conducted due to students’ difficulties in understanding the material caused by limited interactive and accessible learning resources. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4D development model, consisting of define, design, develop, and disseminate stages. The developed e-LKM includes instructional materials, contextual case studies, videos, supporting articles, and higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) questions at the C4 and C5 levels. Canva and Flip PDF Professional were used to support interactivity and visual appeal. The feasibility of the e-LKM was evaluated through validation by subject-matter experts and media experts, assessments by the course lecturer, and student responses. The validation results indicated that the case study–based e-LKM was categorized as highly feasible in terms of content quality, language, visual design, and interactivity. Student responses also showed positive perceptions of accessibility, visual attractiveness, and the effectiveness of the e-LKM in enhancing understanding and learning engagement. Therefore, the case study–based e-LKM is suitable for use as an alternative learning resource in Multicultural Education.

Abstract

This study aims to map and analyze research trends on Eco-design and Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) in environmental learning through bibliometric analysis. Data were collected from the Scopus database covering publications from 2013 to 2024 related to Eco-design, SSI, environmental education, eco-literacy, and critical thinking. Bibliometric data were analyzed using VOSviewer software to visualize research networks including co-authorship, co-occurrence (keywords), citations, co-citations, and overlay analysis. The findings revealed four main research clusters linking environmental education, SSI, Eco-design, eco-literacy, and critical thinking. The results also show that research has evolved from descriptive studies to a more integrative and application-oriented approach that combines design innovation with socio-scientific reflection. The overlay visualization shows a temporal shift from early themes such as environmental awareness to a more recent emphasis on sustainability, critical thinking, and ecological literacy. These results highlight that the integration of Eco-design with SSI promotes a transformative paradigm in environmental education by connecting ethical and scientific perspectives with real-world solutions. This study provides a conceptual foundation for developing an interdisciplinary learning model that strengthens students' ecological literacy and critical thinking skills in sustainability-oriented education.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the increase in students learning creativity through the application of scrapbook learning media based on historical material under Japanese tyranny in history subjects at SMA Negeri 4 Merangin. This study uses Classroom Action Research techniques. The variables studied include the increase in learning creativity that was successfully achieved by students after two cycles of learning, where one cycle consists of four stages, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The results of the study showed that there was an increase in learning creativity in class XI Phase 2 students of SMA Negeri 4 Merangin when learning using scrapbook learning media. In cycle I, action 1 had an average value of learning creativity of 54% with 4 people in the creative category, while action 2 was 61% with 12 people in the creative category. In cycle II action 3 the average value of stundents leraning creativity increased by 66% with 20 people in the creative category. While action 4 was 78% with 14 people in the very creative category and 18 people in the creative category. These result exceeded the set completion criteria which was 70%.

Abstract

Penggunaan teknologi di dunia pendidikan tidak hanya mengoptimalkan pengalaman belajar peserta didik tetapi juga membuka akses terhadap sumber daya dan konten pendidikan yang lebih luas. Berdasarkan hasil observasi di SMPN 11 Kota Jambi, terdapat kendala dalam proses pembelajaran IPA disekolah seperti minimnya pemanfaatan media pembelajaran berbasis teknologi, rendahnya minat dan motivasi belajar peserta didik, dan masih banyaknya peserta didik merasa bosan ketika pembelajaran tidak menggunkan media pembelajaran yang bervariasi. Oleh karena itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan, mengetahui kelayakan, serta mengetahui respon guru dan peserta didik terhadap media pembelajaran elektronik lembar kerja peserta didik berbasis PBL pada materi peredaran darah manusia. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian (R&D) dan model penelitian yang digunakan yaitu model 4-D yang terdiri dari 4 tahap yaitu pendefinisian (define), Desain (Design), Pengembangan (Development) dan Penyebaran (Disseminate). Instrumen pengumpulan data mencakup wawancara, angket validasi ahli materi dan media untuk menilai kelayakan produk, angket penilaian guru IPA, dan angket respon peserta didik kelas VIII. Hasil pengembangan menunjukan bahwa produk E-LKPD berbasis PBL dapat digunakan dan dimanfaatkan, karena telah melalui tahapan validasi oleh ahli materi dilakukan sebanyak 3 kali dengan hasil akhir sebesar 95% yang dinyatakan “sangat layak” dan ahli media dilakukan sebanyak 2 kali dengan hasil akhir sebesar 98% yang dinyatakan “sangat layak”. Hasil penilaian guru terhadap produk sebesar 98% yang dinyatakan “sangat layak”. Uji coba dilakukan kepada 8 orang peserta didik (kelompok kecil) dan 26 orang peserta didik (kelompok besar). Hasil uji coba pada kelompok kecil sebesar 83% yang dinyatakan “sangat baik” dan hasil uji coba kelompok besar sebesar 82% yang dinyatakan “sangat baik”. E-LKPD yang dikembangkan menggunakan aplikasi canva dilengkapi dengan teks, video, audio, Qr-code, serta pertanyaan-pertanyaan menggunakan wordwall dan google form. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa media pembelajaran elektronik lembar kerja peserta didik berbasis PBL pada materi sIstem peredaran darah manusia untuk SMPN/MTSN layak digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran.

Abstract

Media pembelajaran ini dikembangkan agar dapat diakses melalui berbagai perangkat elektronik seperti laptop, tablet, dan smartphone. Hal ini bertujuan untuk memudahkan siswa dalam menggunakannya secara mandiri, baik ketika berada di sekolah maupun saat belajar di luar sekolah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan sebuah media pembelajaran berbasis website, menganalisis kelayakan media yang dikembangkan, serta menilai respons subjek uji coba terhadap media tersebut. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 14 Kota Jambi dengan menggunakan metode penelitian pengembangan (RD) model ASSURE. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui penyebaran angket kepada siswa sebagai data utama dan wawancara dengan guru mata pelajaran biologi. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI IPA. Hasil validasi menunjukkan media ini layak, dengan persentase dari ahli materi sebesar 96,88% dan dari ahli media sebesar 93,75%. Penilaian guru terhadap media menunjukkan persentase 75% dengan kategori “layak”. Uji coba kelompok kecil (6 siswa) menghasilkan skor 88,28%, dan kelompok besar (21 siswa) memperoleh skor 90,70%. Nilai rata-rata N-Gain sebesar 0,5580 atau 55,80% termasuk kategori sedang. Dengan demikian, media ini dinyatakan layak digunakan dan mampu meningkatkan minat belajar siswa secara signifikan dengan efektivitas sedang.

Abstract

Applying the project-based learning model in learning can train and develop scientific attitudes and problem-solving skills so that students can increase creativity, innovation, and critical perspectives. This research aims to determine the effect of the project-based learning model on student's science process skills and critical thinking. The research subjects of class X Phase E.  This research was quantitative research with a quasi-experimental research design with a non-randomized control-group pretest-posttest design. The instruments used are essay questions on science process skills and critical thinking. The test results were analyzed using Quade's rank analysis of covariance statistical test and the One Way Ancova test. The research results show that the average pretest-posttest score of experimental class students taught using the project-based learning model is higher than that of control class students taught using the problem-based learning (PBL) model. Hypothesis testing using Quade's rank analysis of Covariance and One Way Ancova tets informs that the use of the project-based (PjBL) model affects student's science process skills and critical thinking.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between self-efficacy and academic procrastination in completing final assignments among university students. A quantitative approach with simple linear regression analysis was employed. The participants consisted of 47 Biology Education students at the University of Jambi who were completing their final projects. Data were collected using validated self-efficacy and academic procrastination scales. The findings revealed that both self-efficacy (79%) and academic procrastination (72%) were at moderate levels. Regression analysis indicated that self-efficacy significantly influenced academic procrastination (p < 0.005), contributing 47.6% to the variance. Interestingly, the positive regression coefficient suggests a potential overconfidence effect, where higher self-efficacy may lead to delayed task completion due to underestimation of task demands. This finding highlights that self-efficacy alone is insufficient to ensure productive academic behavior without adequate self-regulation. The study implies that universities should integrate psychological support and time management training to optimize students’ academic performance and reduce procrastination during the final assignment process.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low level of students’ learning activeness in class XI F1 at SMAN 8 Muaro Jambi. The observation results indicated that students tended to be passive, less participative, and easily bored during the learning process. Preliminary data showed that 59% of the students were categorized as having low learning activeness, while 41% were in the moderate category. This study aimed to improve students’ learning activeness through the implementation of the Team Games Tournament (TGT) learning model based on a deep learning approach. The method used in this study was Classroom Action Research (CAR), which was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of the study were 29 students of class XI F1. Data collection techniques included observation, questionnaires, and documentation, while the data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative analysis. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ learning activeness. In Cycle I, students’ learning activeness increased from 53% to 61% (moderate category). In Cycle II, it further increased to 70% and 79% (high category). Therefore, the implementation of the Team Games Tournament (TGT) learning model based on a deep learning approach proved to be effective in improving the learning activeness of students in class XI F1 at SMAN 8 Muaro Jambi

Abstract

Plant structure is one of the subjects in biology education program at Jambi University. Based on documentation of plant structure course value, in semester 2015/2016 is known that 64.47% of students have not achieved good grades. One material that is quite difficult is stem material, it is known that the number of foreign terms in the text book makes students feel difficult. One of the learning media that can be used is e-book, e-book contains electronic information in the form of text, images and audio packaged. This research aims to develop an ebook based android smartphone as biology learning media, also to determine the feasibility and response of students and lecturers to developed e-book. This study uses the ADDIE model with qualitative and quantitative data. In the validation step by media experts, the final percentage was 100%, the validation by the product experts gained a percentage of 89%. Furthermore, the product was tested on students consisting of 8 small groups and 24 large groups. The response of students in the small group trial got a percentage score of 89% with the criteria of "Very Good" while the large group received a percentage of 83.14% "Very Good". In the experiments conducted by lecturers, the course on plant structure obtained a percentage of 89% "Very Good". Thus it can be said that the media get a positive response and can be accepted in the learning process. Based on the research that has been done it is suggested that the media can be used when learning takes place or as an independent learning material for students so that it is easier to understand the material and can be used as a complementary learning material for lecturers on plant structure courses.
