Abstract

This research aimed at finding out whether or not the use of Plan-ahead Brainstorming in helping the second-year students of SMAN 1 Bantaeng to enhance their speaking skill. The steps of Plan-ahead Brainstorming in implementing consist of (1) giving the topic, (2) plan-ahead session, (3) brainstorming in small group, (4) individual oral report. This research employed pre-experimental method. The researcher used random sampling technique and the selected sample was the students in XI IPA1 with the total 28 number of students. The instrument of this research was speaking test in the form of oral test. The data acquired were then analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistics. The result of the data analysis showed that the probability value (0.00) was smaller than the level of significance (0.05). This indicated that the implementation of Plan-ahead Brainstorming enhanced the students` speaking skill. This indicates that the alternative hypothesis (H1) accepted. This research contributed extensively the theory about plan-ahead brainstorming in enhancing students speaking ability. The plan-ahead brainstorming is the technique that can influence the students speaking fluency effectively. The outcome of the use of plan-ahead brainstorming is useful in learning English, especially students in learning speaking. The student can decrease their skepticism and stammer in plan-ahead session to prepare what they want to utter. The researcher found that this technique is useful for teachers in order that they can use this technique more effectively as long as the teacher prepare specific time to implement this technique in several time.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine how effective child-friendly schools are in building students’ spiritual character in the era of computers and the internet. This study used a literature study, which focused on collecting and analyzing literature relevant to the topic discussed. This study aims to gain a deep understanding of the practices that have been carried out and the problems faced in today’s education world. The results of this study found many educational approaches used in Child-Friendly Schools. These strategies include incorporating spiritual values into the curriculum, incorporating relevant extracurricular activities, and using pedagogical approaches that encourage active student participation. The findings indicate that with the right approach, child-friendly schools can function as an effective environment in building students’ spiritual character so that they are not only able to compete academically but also have integrity and a positive attitude in interacting in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to 1. Describe the implementation of Islamic Education (PAI) learning based on the Free Learning Curriculum in the Motorcycle Business Engineering Department for 10th-grade students at SMK Islam Diponegoro Losari, 2. Determine the impact of implementing PAI learning based on the Free Learning Curriculum on the Improvement of Ethics of 10th-grade students in the Motorcycle Business Engineering Department at SMK Islam Diponegoro Losari, and 3. Identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of PAI learning based on the Free Learning Curriculum on the Improvement of Ethics of 10th-grade students in the Motorcycle Business Engineering Department at SMK Islam Diponegoro Losari. This research uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews and observations. The main findings indicate that the implementation of PAI learning based on the Free Learning Curriculum has a positive contribution to shaping the character and morals of students. PAI teachers play a crucial role in adapting the curriculum and learning materials to be relevant to the needs and interests of students. Supporting factors include teacher training, infrastructure support, and student involvement in learning, while obstacles include a lack of resources and challenges in online implementation during the pandemic. The implications of this study underscore the importance of continually improving the quality of relevant and applicable PAI learning for students, as well as expanding support and facilities to support the implementation of the Free Learning Curriculum in vocational high schools.

Abstract

This study explores how hyperbolic expressions in the lyrics of Radiohead’s OK Computer represent depression and influence listeners' perceptions of mental health. Using psychological theories from Edward Bibring and Sigmund Freud, alongside Hans Georg Gadamer’s hermeneutic approach, the research examines how exaggerated phrases intensify themes of overwhelming mental struggle, invasive thoughts, despair, and alienation. These hyperbolic expressions vividly portray the emotional chaos and isolation of depression, making it more relatable for listeners. The findings show that these expressions evoke strong emotional responses, deepening empathy and shaping listeners' understanding of depression. This study highlights the role of music in influencing public perceptions of mental health.

Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi penggunaan guided intellectual diaries sebagai strategi pembelajaran reflektif untuk meningkatkan literasi sastra pada mahasiswa. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada Program Studi Sastra Inggris Universitas Negeri Makassar dengan melibatkan 33 orang mahasiswa yang berpartisipasi dalam intervensi pembelajaran selama satu semester melalui integrasi penulisan Guided Intellectual Diary dalam pembelajaran mata kuliah English Prose. Guided Intellectual Diary dirancang untuk mendorong refleksi kritis mahasiswa terhadap interpretasi teks, konteks sosial-budaya, sudut pandang pengarang, serta keterlibatan personal terhadap karya sastra. Data tambahan diperoleh melalui focus group discussion (FGD) guna memperkaya pemahaman terhadap pengalaman belajar mahasiswa. Data yang terdiri atas diari dan transkrip FGD kemudian dianalisis secara tematik dengan menggunakan kerangka enam tahap Braun dan Clarke (2022). Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa Guided Intellectual Diary berkontribusi signifikan terhadap pengembangan literasi sastra mahasiswa, khususnya dalam pendalaman kemampuan interpretatif dan analitis, peningkatan kesadaran kultural dan empatik, serta penguatan otonomi dan refleksi diri dalam membaca. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa integrasi Guided Intellectual Diary dalam pembelajaran sastra dapat menjembatani analisis akademik dan respons personal, sekaligus memperkuat dimensi kognitif, afektif, dan metakognitif dalam aktivitas membaca. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa praktik pembelajaran reflektif terarah merupakan model pedagogis yang efektif untuk menumbuhkan pembaca kritis dan mandiri di lingkungan pendidikan tinggi khususnya dalam bidang ilmu kesusastraan. Kata Kunci: literasi sastra, guided intellectual diaries, pembelajaran reflektif, analisis tematik, pendidikan sastra

Abstract

Abstrak: Dominasi metode pedagogis tradisional yang bergantung pada papan tulis telah menyebabkan rendahnya keterlibatan siswa dalam pembelajaran Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam (SKI). Hasil observasi awal menunjukkan bahwa siswa cenderung pasif, tidak responsif terhadap pertanyaan, dan kurang memiliki inisiatif dalam memahami materi pelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji: 1) pemanfaatan Educandy sebagai media pembelajaran bagi siswa kelas VIII MTs Salafiyah, 2) bentuk-bentuk kebosanan belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran SKI, dan 3) kelebihan serta keterbatasan Educandy dalam proses pembelajaran. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, data dikumpulkan melalui observasi kelas, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Educandy memberikan dampak positif terhadap proses pembelajaran. Platform berbasis permainan ini meningkatkan minat dan pemahaman siswa melalui fitur-fitur seperti Pilihan Ganda, Mencocokkan Pasangan, dan Pencarian Kata yang dapat diakses melalui laptop atau ponsel pintar; 2) manifestasi kebosanan belajar—meliputi kelelahan emosional, fisik, dan kognitif, serta hilangnya motivasi—berkurang secara signifikan berkat suasana belajar yang interaktif dan menyenangkan; dan 3) meskipun platform ini mudah diakses dan memiliki fitur beragam yang meningkatkan partisipasi, Educandy tetap memiliki keterbatasan berupa ketergantungan pada internet, fitur terbatas pada versi gratis, serta tidak tersedianya sistem pelaporan otomatis. Dengan demikian, Educandy paling efektif digunakan sebagai alat pendukung yang diintegrasikan dengan metode pedagogis lainnya untuk memaksimalkan hasil belajar. Kata kunci: Educandy, Kebosanan Belajar, Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam (SKI), Media Pembelajaran Abstract: The prevalence of traditional pedagogical methods, predominantly relying on whiteboards, has resulted in significant student disengagement in Islamic Cultural History (Ind: Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam [SKI]) classes. Preliminary observations indicate that students tend to be passive, unresponsive to inquiry, and lack initiative in comprehending the subject matter. This study aims to investigate: 1) the utilisation of Educandy as a learning medium for Grade VIII students at MTs Salafiyah, 2) the manifestations of student learning boredom in SKI classes, and 3) the specific advantages and limitations of Educandy in the instructional process. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were gathered through classroom observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that: 1) Educandy generates a positive impact on the learning process. This game-based platform enhances student interest and comprehension through accessible features such as Multiple Choice, Matching Pairs, and Word Search via laptops or smartphones; 2) manifestations of learning boredom—including emotional, physical, and cognitive fatigue, as well as demotivation—were significantly minimised due to the interactive and enjoyable learning atmosphere; and 3) while the platform offers ease of access and varied features that boost participation, it is constrained by internet dependency, limited features in the free version, and the absence of an automated reporting system. Consequently, Educandy is best utilised as a supplementary tool integrated with other pedagogical methods to maximise learning outcomes.
