Abstract

This article discusses the debates and controversies surrounding the authoritative interpretation of Sharia law regarding the caning punishment process in correctional facilities (prisons) in Aceh, which was previously conducted in open fields. The debate emerged and took place across various media platforms, including social media, following the issuance of the Aceh Governor's Regulation in 2018 concerning the relocation of the punishment process. The discussion extended to deliberating the most legitimate interpretation regarding the necessity for the caning punishment to be witnessed by a group of believers; the selection of the location where the punishment is carried out; and the intent and purpose of the caning punishment itself to be witnessed by the public, as explicitly stated in Q.S. An-Nur: 2. Using literature study as the research method, this article concludes that there has been a shift in religious interpretation towards authoritarianism by considering and asserting certain interpretations as authoritative and "supposedly" in accordance with Sharia, as intended by the implementation of the caning punishment during the formalization of Sharia law in Aceh.

Abstract

When the principle of tolerance is seen as an agreement on shared values, the forms of its practice can be diverse, even contradictory. On the other hand, the relationship between minority and majority groups in Indonesia continues to change over time, and this dynamic becomes a locus of control for the authorities. The government never ignores this problem. In addition to regulations, one of the facilities provided is the existence of Islamic Religious Counselors. The purpose of this study is to explain the role of Islamic religious counselors in realizing harmonious relations for minority groups in freedom of religion and belief. The research method used in this study is a qualitative method with descriptive analysis. The results of the study show the issue in understanding the extent to which the role of divine (heavenly) religious symbols is manifested in the social realm when the majority and minority groups of various religious believers interact with each other in a society, and when each different symbol touches each other intensely. Religious counselors can provide an important foundation for expressing religion amid diversity. The main thing that needs to be underlined is the moderate religious insight and attitude. This is what distinguishes a Islamic religious councelor from other religious figures although both convey religious messages through guidance and counseling activities. The efforts and roles of religious icouncelors are explained from the perspective of religious moderation, harmonization, and freedom of religion and belief. From the perspective of religious moderation, the councelors have a role as an agent of moderation, guardian of morals, and guardian of faith, while from the perspective of harmonization, the councelors have an informative and educative roles, the same thing also in realizing freedom of religion and belief.

Abstract

This research explores the intricate relationship between compensation, motivation, and employee performance within the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office of North Aceh Regency. Through a quantitative approach employing multiple and simple linear regression analyses with SPSS, the study investigates the impact of compensation and motivation on employee performance, using a sample of 60 employees selected through random sampling. The findings indicate that both compensation and motivation significantly contribute to heightened employee performance, constituting crucial elements for organizational success. The compensation regression coefficient is 0.569, affirming that increased compensation positively influences employee performance. Similarly, the motivational regression coefficient is 1.022, suggesting that heightened motivation positively impacts employee performance. The study underscores the theoretical significance of recognizing compensation and motivation as pivotal factors in human resource management. Practical implications include the need for well-structured compensation systems and effective motivational strategies to optimize employee performance. Despite these contributions, caution is advised in generalizing findings, and future research could delve into additional factors influencing employee performance for a more comprehensive understanding in the public sector.

Abstract

Sharia-based Peer-to-Peer (P2P) lending has become one of the funding alternatives for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia that have limited access to capital from conventional banks. By using Sharia principles, this P2P lending aims to provide funding services that follow Islamic values and are open to MSME players. Research objectives: This study aims to analyze the role, effectiveness, and challenges of Islamic P2P lending financing in supporting the development of MSMEs in Indonesia and assess its compliance with Islamic economic principles. Research method: This research uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method and in-depth interviews with several MSME players and Islamic P2P lending service providers. Secondary data were obtained from reports and publications of the Islamic fintech industry, while primary data were collected through interviews that were thematically analyzed. Research results: The results show that Islamic P2P lending financing can provide significant alternative funding for MSMEs in Indonesia, especially in terms of accessibility and flexibility. However, there are challenges related to regulation and public education on Islamic financing. The Sharia-compliant P2P lending system also attracts MSMEs that are committed to the halal economy, although there is a need for improvement in the transparency aspect.
