Abstract

The growing demand for culturally responsive digital learning highlights the importance of developing local wisdom-based e-book teaching materials to enrich online education and strengthen students' cultural identity. Following PRISMA guidelines, this study presents a systematic literature review of local wisdom-based e-book teaching materials in digital learning. Articles included were published between 2017 and 2024, written in English, relevant to the topic, and indexed by at least SINTA. Literature searches were conducted through ScienceDirect, ERIC, Google Scholar, Springer, Scopus, and Web of Science databases. The findings show that strategies for developing these materials include integrating e-learning, gamification, augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR); using project-based challenges involving cultural practitioners; and incorporating portfolios and local wisdom content. The impact of local wisdom-based e-books includes strengthening students’ character (love of the homeland, peace-loving attitudes, and social care), enhancing critical thinking, scientific reasoning, and conceptual understanding, and improving digital literacy, science literacy, creative writing, and communication skills. This study concludes that local wisdom-based e-book teaching materials have strong potential to enhance student engagement and foster cultural identity in digital learning environments.

Abstract

Cultural Intelligence Meets EdTech: A Systematic Review on Integrating Local Wisdom into Digital Teaching to Foster Learning Engagement. Objectives: The advancement of educational technology has driven the emergence of innovative approaches that combine cultural intelligence with the use of digital technology in learning processes. This study aims to explore and map trends, types, and the impact of digital teaching materials based on local wisdom on student learning engagement. Methods: The research was conducted using a systematic literature review method with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) approach. The inclusion criteria include: (1) articles published between 2019–2024; (2) peer-reviewed journals and indexed proceedings; (3) relevant topics; (4) scientific research articles; and (5) written in international languages such as English. Findings: The findings show an increasing trend of publications in the last decade, particularly on culturally based learning using interactive digital media. Three main types of digital teaching materials identified include audio (such as narrations of local legends), visual (such as cultural infographics), and audio-visual (such as traditional animation videos). Synthesizing the findings across studies, these culturally grounded materials significantly enhance cognitive engagement by deepening conceptual understanding, strengthening affective engagement through the reinforcement of cultural identity and emotional connection, and supporting psychomotor engagement by fostering practice-based learning tied to local traditions. Implications for practice and policy include the need to support the dissemination of culture-based digital materials, prioritize the development of immersive audio-visual media, and promote learning designs that enhance cognitive, emotional, and practical student engagement. Conclusion: The review highlights that local wisdom, when effectively embedded into digital media, serves not only as an instructional aid but also as a cultural bridge that deepens student involvement and relevance in learning. Integrating culturally responsive content in digital formats enables educators to design more authentic and impactful learning experiences. Keywords: local wisdom, digital teaching materials, learning engagement, a systematic literature review.

As a solution, a pre-designed MAR storybook was developed based on Bantenese folktale with simple text, illustrations, audio, AR animation, as well as vocabulary, pronunciation, reflective quizzes, and critical question features in a lightweight, child-friendly application that can be accessed online and offline.

Abstract

The phenomenon of declining spiritual awareness among adolescents has become a serious challenge in modern education. Schools are expected not only to produce intellectually intelligent generations but also students with strong spiritual character. This study aims to examine the spiritual values internalized through Qur’anic literacy practices among students at SMAN 6 Tangerang Regency and to explore how these values shape students’ religious and moral character. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with Islamic Education (PAI) teachers and students, as well as documentation of Qur’anic literacy activities. The data were analyzed using data reduction, display, and verification techniques. The results indicate that Qur’anic literacy practices at SMAN 6 Tangerang Regency are implemented through three main activities: morning tadarus (recitation), tahsin–tahfidz (reading and memorization), and thematic tadabbur (Qur’anic reflection). Through these activities, five dominant spiritual values were found to be internalized among students: (1) sincerity, (2) discipline, (3) gratitude and inner peace, (4) responsibility, and (5) social empathy. These values are developed through habituation, teacher role-modeling, and shared spiritual experiences within the school environment. The findings reinforce Bandura’s Social Learning Theory and Zohar & Marshall’s concept of Spiritual Intelligence, suggesting that spiritual values can be transmitted through continuous social interaction and reflective religious practices. The study concludes that Qur’anic literacy practices serve as an effective medium for fostering students’ spirituality in public schools, as they enhance not only religious literacy but also form a spiritual habitus that encourages positive behavior and emotional balance.

Abstract

This article describes a religious movement figure in post-Reformation Indonesia (1998), namely Habib Rizieq Shihab, who had a mass organization considered radical, namely the Islamic Defenders Front. This article answers the accusation that Shihab was anti-state politics, anti-Pancasila, anti-the Republic of Indonesia, and was intolerant of anyone different from the movement he had led. This study uses the content analysis method, namely analyzing the ideas in Shihab's writings and lectures to reveal his Islamic political ideology. This study found that Shihab's theology was Ashary and Shafiy Sunni with Alawiy Tareqat order. The Muslim Brotherhood influenced Shihab's thoughts and Al-Maududi's ideas, namely, aspiring to an Islamic state or formalizing religious constitutional law into a condition known as Islamic law. At the local level, Shihab was influenced by the local scholar M. Natsir. However, Shihab's political Islamic thought results gave distinctive features and differed from the existing typology. Shihab accepted Pancasila as the basis of the state. However, the "Shari'ated Indonesia" concept was a theistic concept perceived as implementing the Islamic caliphate vision and mission and the reincarnation of the 1945 Jakarta Charter Pancasila.
