Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has transformed educational practices, demanding learning approaches that are adaptive, meaningful, and relevant to 21st-century learners. This study investigates the implementation of deep learning based Islamic Education at SMK Batik 1 Surakarta, focusing on its impact, challenges, and supporting strategies. The research employed a qualitative with a phenomenological approved. Data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and documentation, and were analyzed using an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the implementation of deep learning emphasizes three core principles: mindful, meaningful, and joyful learning. Teachers function as facilitators by applying active learning models such as Problem Based Learning (PBL) and Project Based Learning (PjBL) to enhance critical thinking, collaboration, and student engagement. The approach strengthens students’ religious character and learning motivation. However, its implementation faces several challenges, including limited digital infrastructure, restrictions on gadget use, and limited instructional time. To address these issues, teachers adopt adaptive strategies such as alternative learning media, peer tutoring, and the integration of Islamic values into routine school activities. Overall, the success of this approach depends on teacher creativity and collaborative support from the school community..

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to examine in depth the efforts of students to overcome obstacles faced in memorizing the Qur'an, analyze teacher strategies in teaching and explore the role of supporters in improving students' memorization of the Qur'an at the Assalaam Modern Islamic Boarding School in Sukoharjo. The researcher used a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. The data sources in this study were several ustadz and ustadzah, as well as several students from the tahfidz program. The study results showed that each student had a different way of memorizing, depending on the method that suited their abilities. The efforts of students to overcome obstacles in memorizing include having a firm and sincere intention, being diligent and patient, istiqomah, having one mushaf to strengthen memorization, tahsin Qur'an, and having a healthy body and mind. The strategies tahfidz teachers apply include tahsin, tahfidz, tasmi', and muraja'ah. A comfortable environment, high motivation, and adequate support facilities influence success in memorizing. There are various inhibiting factors: the influence of outside activities from non-tahfidz students, difficulty dividing time, and lack of concentration. This study is expected to provide valuable insights into improving the effectiveness of teaching Qur'an memorization in Islamic educational institutions. The study results can be used by Islamic boarding school managers to design more effective teaching strategies in the process of memorizing the Qur'an by considering the needs and characteristics of each student. In addition, the importance of motivational support and a conducive learning environment can be a concern for Islamic boarding school administrators to create an atmosphere that supports the teaching and learning process.

This study used a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The researcher used semi-structured interviews and participant observation as primary data sources and documentation analysis as secondary data sources. The primary data sources were obtained through interviews with lecturers and several students who had completed the microteaching course and participated in the Kampus Mengajar program. The researcher used the interactive data analysis technique of Miles and Huberman, involving data reduction, data presentation, and concluding. The data validity technique used triangulation. Based on the results of the study, the profile of basic teaching skills of Islamic Religious Education students was in the very good category for the aspects of opening subjects, mastering the class, asking questions, closing lessons, explaining, and providing reinforcement. However, in the aspects of variation and small group discussions, students' skills were still quite adequate. In addition, students were able to maximize their basic teaching skills during the Kampus Mengajar program. Prospective student teachers who participate in the Campus Teaching program receive various significant opportunities and benefits that can contribute to the development of skills and financial support for teachers in general.

Abstract

The global shift toward holistic education has intensified scholarly attention on character education within religious-based institutions. This study examines how student management functions as a structural mechanism facilitating the internalization of religious values in Islamic secondary education. Employing a qualitative case study design, the research was conducted at an Islamic junior secondary school in Indonesia over a two-month period. Data were collected through prolonged observation, in-depth semi-structured interviews with school stakeholders responsible for student affairs and religious programs, and analysis of institutional documents. The data were analyzed thematically to identify patterns of religious character formation embedded in student management practices. The findings indicate that student management systematically shapes students’ religious behavior through structured routines, disciplinary regulations, and school-wide religious programs. These mechanisms effectively foster religious discipline and behavioral conformity; however, they show limitations in developing students’ reflective religious awareness. Differences in family-based religious support and increased exposure to digital environments emerge as significant challenges that weaken the sustainability of religious character beyond school supervision. Distinct from prior studies that predominantly emphasize curriculum and classroom-based instruction, this study demonstrates that student management operates as a moral regulatory system influencing students’ religious character in non-instructional spaces. The study underscores the importance for Islamic schools to adopt integrative student management strategies that balance habituation, reflective engagement, and religious digital literacy to support sustainable character development.
