Abstract

Abstract: This study examines the role of educational facility optimization in shaping discipline among early childhood in RA Assyifa' Balerejo Madiun using B.F. Skinner's theory of behaviorism. The approach used was a qualitative case study with data collection techniques through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation for three months. The results show that well-managed facilities, such as organized classrooms, shoe racks, and sinks, serve as environmental stimuli that support disciplined behaviors, such as neatness and adherence to rules. Positive reinforcement, such as praise from teachers, plays an important role in reinforcing these behaviors. Structured facility management, parent and student engagement, and regular evaluation, contribute to an increase in the consistency of the stimulus, leading to an increase in rule compliance from 60% to 85%, as well as the use of facilities for hygiene reaching 70%. The challenges found, such as damaged facilities and inconsistent reinforcement, point to the need for more intensive positive reinforcement and more innovative facility design. The study confirms that optimal educational facilities, supported by structured management and community involvement, can effectively foster discipline in early childhood, as well as provide practical implications for environment-based education management. Abstract

Scientific literacy and social literacy are essential competencies that should be developed from the early stages of formal education, particularly within integrated science and social studies learning. This study aims to map the current condition of elementary school students’ scientific and social literacy in Integrated Science and Social Studies learning in Lampung Province, Indonesia. A qualitative approach with a descriptive exploratory design was employed to obtain an in-depth understanding of students’ literacy conditions in authentic classroom contexts. The research participants consisted of elementary school teachers and students selected through purposive sampling based on their direct involvement in Integrated Science and Social Studies instruction. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation studies involving lesson modules, textbooks, and student worksheets. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, which includes data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. Data trustworthiness was ensured through source triangulation, technique triangulation, and member checking. The findings reveal that students’ scientific literacy remains at a basic level. Students were generally able to observe phenomena but experienced difficulty in reasoning, interpreting information, explaining causal relationships, and applying concepts to real-life contexts. Similarly, students’ social literacy had developed in terms of basic interaction and group work but had not yet reached the level of critical social understanding and reflective social reasoning. These conditions were influenced by the dominance of conventional teaching methods, limited exploratory activities, weak contextualization of learning materials, and suboptimal use of technology. This study implies that strengthening students’ scientific and social literacy requires a transformation of instructional practices toward more inquiry-based, contextual, reflective, and student-centered learning.

Abstract

Research on English as a Foreign Language (EFL) writing instruction has expanded substantially over the last decade, reflecting growing interest in pedagogical innovation, learner-centered instruction, feedback practices, and technology-mediated writing. However, the field remains fragmented, as existing studies often examine isolated instructional strategies, learner populations, or digital interventions without offering an integrated view of its intellectual structure and pedagogical development. This study maps and synthesizes Scopus-indexed research on EFL writing instruction published between 2015 and 2024 through an integrated bibliometric analysis and systematic literature review. A total of 1,030 journal articles were analyzed bibliometrically using Biblioshiny and VOSviewer to examine publication trends, influential authors, source journals, contributing countries, citation patterns, and keyword co-occurrence networks. Following PRISMA 2020 guidelines, 82 empirical studies were further selected for qualitative synthesis. The findings reveal a steady increase in EFL writing instruction research, with accelerated growth between 2021 and 2024. Genre-based, process-oriented, and strategy-based instruction emerged as dominant pedagogical approaches, while sociocultural, cognitive, sociocognitive, and self-regulated learning frameworks commonly informed the field. Persistent challenges include learners’ limited linguistic and rhetorical resources, writing anxiety, low confidence, instructional constraints, and feedback-related difficulties. At the same time, technology-enhanced and AI-assisted writing tools offer opportunities for feedback, collaboration, learner autonomy, and instructional innovation. This review contributes an integrated understanding of EFL writing instruction research by connecting bibliometric patterns with pedagogical and theoretical insights, while highlighting future directions for longitudinal, teacher-focused, contextually diverse, and ethically informed studies on digital and AI-supported writing pedagogy.
