Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes and engagement through the use of technology-based introductory learning media in the Fiqh subject at MI Al-Ma’arif Sidolaju Ngawi. The problem underlying this study is the low level of student participation and learning outcomes that have not yet met the Minimum Passing Criteria (KKM), caused by the dominance of traditional teaching methods and the limited use of learning media appropriate to the students’ characteristics. This study employs a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted over two cycles. The research subjects consisted of 22 Year 5 pupils in the 2024/2025 academic year. Data collection techniques included observation of pupil activities, learning outcome tests, interviews, and documentation. Each cycle comprised the planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The results of the study showed an increase in student learning activity from 51.6% in cycle I to 57.92% in cycle II. Furthermore, the average learning outcome score increased from 63 in cycle I to 80 in cycle II. These findings indicate that the use of technology-based introductory learning media is effective in enhancing student engagement and learning outcomes in the subject of Fiqh. This study is limited by a small sample size, the scope of a single class, and a relatively short research duration, so the results cannot yet be generalized widely. Therefore, future research is recommended to involve larger samples, more diverse contexts, and longer implementation periods to obtain more comprehensive findings.

Abstract

This study examines the book Riyadh al-Shalihin by Imam Nawawi, one of the classical works that has significantly influenced Islamic literature, particularly in the development of ethical teachings. The book presents a collection of hadiths that emphasize the values of adab, which serve as an essential foundation in Islamic education and character formation. In the context of globalization and rapid technological development, Islamic education plays an increasingly important role in shaping the moral character of Muslim individuals. This study aims to analyze the concepts of adab and knowledge presented in Riyadh al-Shalihin and their implications for the design of an Islamic education curriculum, focusing on educational objectives, learning processes, and evaluation systems that can cultivate knowledgeable and well-mannered students. Using a literature study method, the research analyzes various relevant sources, including books and historical documents. The findings indicate that an education model grounded in adab and knowledge implemented through the internalization of moral values, teacher role modeling, and a curriculum that integrates theory with daily practice can effectively enhance students’ understanding and application of Islamic teachings. Furthermore, integrating religious and general knowledge into the curriculum contributes to a broader, more relevant learning experience. Further studies are recommended to deepen the development of learning processes and evaluation models in curricula inspired by Riyadh al-Shalihin.

Abstract

This study focuses on Islamic historiography in the classical period, which has significant significance for analysis. Historiography, as a method and framework for reconstructing history, plays a central role in laying the foundations for writing history. This study describes several main aspects, including the early period of the development of Islamic historiography and the transformation of Islamic history writing from time to time. This study uses the literature review method and thematic analysis. This analysis technique has three stages: compare, contrast, and criticize. The results of this study indicate that the historiography of the development of classical Islam includes studies of pre-Islamic Arab society, which became the initial foundation for the tradition of writing Islamic history. During this period, historiography was marked by the emergence of various genres, such as maghazi (stories of the Prophet Muhammad's wars), sirah (biography of the Prophet Muhammad), tarikh or akhbar (historical records and news), and nasab (genealogy). Along with the development of the era, this tradition began to be integrated with the methodology of dirayah (content criticism) and riwayah (sanad criticism) in compiling and verifying historical narratives. Geographically, Islamic historiography developed through various schools, such as the Yemeni school, the Medina school, and the Iraqi school, each of which had a different focus and approach to recording historical events. During the leadership of the Khulafaurrasyidin, Islamic historiography experienced significant progress, along with the emergence of more systematic reasoning patterns. In addition, philosophical thought, kalam science (rational theology), tasawuf (Islamic spirituality), and Fiqh (Islamic law) also enriched the intellectual dynamics of that period, making a major contribution to the development of Islamic science and civilization.

Abstract

Adverse social environments can affect students' attitudes, even though educators try to provide good examples. The influence of peers and the surrounding culture is often more substantial, making it easier for students to imitate negative behavior. To overcome this, educators must be accurate role models in everyday life, both inside and outside the classroom. Consistent role models will inspire students to imitate positive behavior. Educators also need to continue to improve their quality, referring to the principles of QS. Al-Ahzab verse 21, to strengthen role models and build students' social involvement. This study uses a qualitative text study method with literature studies, relying on various relevant library sources. Data were analyzed using content analysis to identify themes related to the advantages of the uswah hasanah method from the perspective of QS. Al-Ahzab verse 21. The study results show that this verse emphasizes the Prophet Muhammad SAW as the best role model with noble qualities such as patience, honesty, and sacrifice. The uswah hasanah method can be formulated into three main aspects: first, a Perfect Example, covering spiritual, social, and moral aspects; second, Good Worship Practices, teaching the implementation of worship with full attention; Third, Implementation in Education, using the Prophet's morals to shape students' characters. Thus, the uswah hasanah method is effective in Islamic education and in forming noble characters

Abstract

The scarcity of interactive and immersive instructional media in Arabic language education has led to low student engagement and fragmented mastery of the four core skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Grounded in constructivist and socio-constructivist learning theories, which emphasize active knowledge construction and social interaction, this gap calls for technology-enhanced solutions. This study aims to develop and evaluate Smart-ArabAR, an innovative learning application that integrates 3D Augmented Reality and artificial intelligence to provide adaptive, personalized, and immersive Arabic learning experiences. Using a Research and Development approach with a modified 3D model (Define, Design, Develop) derived from Thiagarajan’s 4D framework, the product was validated through questionnaires administered to one media expert and one material expert across two evaluation stages, involving first-semester students from the PBA, PAI, and PGMI programs. The findings reveal that Smart-ArabAR is highly feasible and appropriate for use, successfully integrating all four language competencies within an interactive 3D AR environment. In conclusion, Smart-ArabAR strengthens the effectiveness of AR-based Arabic pedagogy and offers a practical solution to bridge digital divides in online and hybrid learning. It is recommended that further implementation be expanded to more institutions and that longitudinal studies be conducted to assess long-term impacts on language proficiency.

Abstract

Islamic education in various educational institutions is generally still oriented towards cognitive-textual aspects, emphasizing memorization, and is not yet effective in developing students’ overall spirituality. The existential intelligence proposed by Howard Gardner emphasizes a person’s ability to explore questions about the meaning of life, the purpose of existence, and the relationship between existence and transcendent reality. On the other hand, Ibn Sina explained the levels of reason, which consist of al-‘aql al-Hayulani, al-‘aql bi al-Malakah, al-‘aql bi al-Fi’il, and al-‘aql al-Mustafad as stages of development towards intellectual and spiritual enlightenment. This study uses library research. The data were collected through a review of primary sources, including Howard Gardner’s works Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences and Intelligence Reframed: Multiple Intelligences for the 21st Century, and Ibn Sina’s an-Nafs. Secondary sources came from various journals, books, and scientific articles discussing existential intelligence and levels of reason. This study referred to Krippendorf’s content analysis principles. The integration of these two concepts results in a holistic, transformative, and reflective PAI learning model. This model combines Gardner’s existential questions with Ibn Sina’s process of strengthening reason, enabling students to develop a deep spirituality and interpret Islamic teachings in real life.

Abstract

In the modern context, it is important for Muslims to have a concept of monotheism that does not just remain academic but also helps in strengthening one's faith. Nursi introduces two dimensions of monotheism: birth monotheism and true monotheism, both of which aim to nurture faith in everyday life. Understanding both the exoteric and esoteric interpretations of monotheistic verses is crucial. This research delves into Nursi's esoteric approach to Tauḥīd ‘monotheistic’ verses and their impact on Islamic thought. The qualitative research design involves a literature review, gathering data from journals, proceedings, books, and documentaries. The data is analyzed using content analysis techniques, as well as esoteric and historical approaches. The research findings reveal that Nursi's esoteric interpretation of monotheistic verses is in line with other Sufi mufassirs, with two significant differences. Firstly, Nursi's esoteric approach, particularly in tafakkur, offers tangible examples that can be experienced physically. Secondly, as a member of the Naqshbandi Tariqa, Nursi consistently refers to asmā' al-ḥusnā and associates it with manifestations reflected in all entities when interpreting the Qur'an. Nursi's interpretation of monotheistic verses has a strong influence at the international level and a socio-religious impact at the national level. However, his interpretation remains significant in addressing religious matters in Indonesia.

Abstract

Education is currently faced with problems of crime and deviant behavior, which hinder the effectiveness of teaching Islamic teachings. Effective educational management and experienced leaders are required. One solution is to implement an integrated curriculum as proposed by KH. Abdullah Syukri Zarkasyi in reforming Islamic boarding school education. This research aims to understand the concept of Islamic boarding school education and its renewal according to KH. Abdullah Syukri Zarkasyi. This type of research is qualitative, using the literature review method by obtaining data through journals, books, and documentaries and comparing, contrasting, and critiquing data using thematic analysis techniques. The research results show that according to K.H Abdullah Syukri Zarkasyi, good Islamic boarding school education is based on the values of the five souls of Islamic boarding schools and is total. The reform of Islamic boarding school education that he proposed was rooted in the concept of the five souls of Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor. K.H. Abdullah Syukri Zarkasyi emphasized three fundamental things in this reform: the totality of life in education, integral education, and Islamic boarding school education orientation.

This study employed a literature review method, examining various documented and published sources relevant to the topic, which were then analyzed using a descriptive-analytical approach. The research findings indicate that, in the view of KH Maimoen Zubair, Islam Nusantara serves not only as a cultural expression but also as an ethical framework for fostering religious nationalism oriented toward the common good and national unity. The relationship between Islam and nationalism is understood as complementary, while the Al-Anwar Islamic Boarding School serves as a medium for internalizing these values through Islamic educational practices. KH Maimoen Zubair’s exemplary religious character, tolerance, spirit of nationalism, and social concern have significant implications for strengthening religious moderation and character education in Indonesia.keywords: Islam Nusantara, Exemplary Religious Scholar, KH Maimoen Zubair, Religious Nationalism, Pesantren Education.
