Abstract

This research uncovers the Islamic religious education teachers’ professionalism and competence issues in the Society 5.0 era. The research employed the Systematic Literature Review method. Articles were obtained from national and international journals. Researchers chose 15 articles from hundreds of relevant articles in the last 5 years. Then, the researchers analyzed and tabulated the tabular data with the name of the researcher, year of publication, publisher, and research results. The research indicated that Islamic religious education teacher professionalism and competence were strongly supported by efforts to increase the education level, training, and teacher upgrading programs. In addition, teacher quality and professionalism needed to be improved through cluster activity centers, teacher working groups, and the Republic of Indonesia Teachers’ Association. It was also necessary to increase a work ethic based on service. The conclusion and implications of improving human resource competencies are developing students’ abilities. Ultimately, teachers will always be active and require self-regulation to overcome the industrial revolution toward a golden Indonesia in 2045.

Abstract

The Qur'an is the greatest miracle revealed by Allah SWT to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as a guide for mankind. One of the main focuses of the Qur'an is to teach people about the worship of Allah, to warn against sins, and to give instructions for doing good in personal and social life. The phenomena and stories contained in the Qur'an are not just fairy tales but are a source of wisdom and knowledge that can be taken by humans. Through observation and understanding of the verses of the Qur'an, people are invited to draw closer to Allah and learn from the stories of the previous people. One example of the story recorded in the Qur'an is the destruction of the people of 'Ad, whom the Prophet Hud sent to warn them against idolatry. Despite warnings, the people of 'Ad remained in defiance, so Allah inflicted torment on them in the form of dark clouds that brought no rain, but strong winds and destruction.

Abstract

This study aims to trace the historical process of hadith codification carried out by Imam al-Bukhari, particularly in the compilation of the book Shahih al-Bukhari, and to examine his contribution to the development of hadith science (ulumul hadith). Using a qualitative approach based on literature review, this study examines primary and secondary sources to understand the historical background, hadith selection strategies, and their impact on Islamic scholarly tradition. The findings reveal that Imam al-Bukhari applied a highly rigorous selection method, such as ensuring the continuity of the chain of transmission (sanad), the integrity of the narrators, and the consistency of the text (matan) with the fundamental principles of Islamic teachings. His work not only established scientific standards in hadith writing but also promoted the development of branches of knowledge such as musthalah al-hadith and jarh wa ta’dil. The book Shahih al-Bukhari remains the primary reference for evaluating authentic hadith and remains relevant in Islamic studies to this day.

Abstract

The growing urgency of character education in the digital age is closely tied to the challenges faced by Generation Z, who are shaped by rapid technological and social change that contributes to identity instability, cyberbullying, and mental health pressures. Addressing these issues requires a framework that integrates spirituality, ethical awareness, and digital literacy to cultivate integrity, responsibility, and psychological balance. This study examines Jean Twenge's technological–psychological perspective alongside Al-Ghazali's spirituality-based character framework to design a curriculum relevant to the Indonesian context. Using a systematic literature review, the research synthesizes primary works by Al-Ghazali, including Tahafut al-Falasifah, Al-Maq?ad al-Asn? f? Shar? Ma??n? Asm?? All?h al-?usn?, and I?y?’ Ul?m al-D?n with contemporary scholarship on mental health and digital ethics. Data were analyzed through thematic coding centered on five domains: character education, mental well-being, digital ethics, curriculum design, and spiritual morality, using stages of comparison, contrast, and critique. The findings propose an integrative curriculum model combining digital literacy and emotional resilience with moral purification and spiritual grounding, structured around three pillars: character formation, responsible technology engagement, and spiritual development. Although implementation presents challenges related to multicultural adaptation, teacher preparedness, and assessment of character outcomes, the model offers a holistic pathway for nurturing balanced learners. The study recommends pilot implementation in schools and Pesantren, the development of assessment tools for mental and moral growth, and longitudinal research to evaluate the long-term impact across diverse educational settings.

Abstract

Islamic History is an important subject within Islamic Religious Education that aims to develop students’ historical understanding and Islamic values. However, the learning process is often dominated by teacher-centered lecture methods, resulting in low student engagement and suboptimal learning outcomes. This study aims to examine: (1) the effect of the lecture method on Islamic History learning outcomes of Grade VII A students as the control class, (2) the effect of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model using 3D creative board media on the learning outcomes of Grade VII B students as the experimental class, and (3) the differences in learning outcomes between the two classes. This research employed a quantitative, quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group. Data were collected through pre-tests and post tests and analysed using validity, reliability, normality, homogeneity, and hypothesis testing with SPSS version 25. The results showed that the lecture method improved students’ learning outcomes in the control class, with a mean pre-test score of 67.9 and a post-test score of 73.70, although the improvement was relatively low. In contrast, the experimental class taught using the PBL model supported by 3D creative board media demonstrated a more significant improvement, with a mean pre-test score of 50.85 and a post-test score of 83.75. Hypothesis testing revealed a significant difference between the two classes, as indicated by a p-value of 0.002 < 0.05. Therefore, the PBL model using 3D creative board media is more effective in improving students’ learning outcomes in Islamic History.
