Abstract

AbstrakMedical masks are also used by people at risk who are indicated to need them. The supply of medical masks is limited, the general public is encouraged to use non-medical masks or cloth masks. This article will discuss the comparison of search results for sensi masks, cloth masks and N-95 masks using google trend analysis. This research method is a qualitative and quantitative study using time series data with quantitative analysis, time-lag correlation is used to assess whether an increase in GT data is correlated with an increase in COVID-19 cases. Data from google trends regarding keywords related to one of the preventive measures for COVID-19, namely masks such as "sensi masks", "cloth masks" and "N-95 masks". Each search interest usually reaches a peak depending on the situation and conditions that occur at that time. The keyword search for "N-95 masks" experienced a peak when 2 Indonesians were confirmed positive for COVID-19, namely on March 2, 2020 and the day after that the keyword "sensi mask" also experienced the highest peak of searches. The keyword search for "cloth masks" peaked on March 6, 2020, when the price of sensi masks began to rise. The results of the keyword correlation test for “sensi mask”, “cloth mask” and “N-95 mask” show that the keyword search results on Google trended a decline in line with the increase in COVID-19 cases in Indonesia. Public interest in tracing increased at the beginning of COVID-19 entering Indonesia. However, the interest in this search continues to decline and is inversely proportional to the increase in the incidence of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia. Keywords:  COVID-19, sensi masks, medical masks, cloth masks, N-95 masks, Google trends

Abstract

Abstract The uncertainty of information on the development of the COVID-19 case in Indonesia has made the public have to independently search for COVID-19 information through various sources of information, such as the mass media and the internet. One of the tools that can be used to facilitate getting internet search data is Google Trends, an online portal that focuses on search trends or searches on Google pages within a certain period of time so that it monitors what keywords are mostly used by Indonesians in searching for data and information. regarding COVID-19 during this pandemic period .. The research method was carried out with the most keyword searches in Indonesia regarding COVID-19 during the pandemic period using Google Trends (https://trends.google.com/trends) from 1 January - 1 September 2020 The keywords chosen were the corona outbreak, corona disease, and the corona pandemic, which would be associated with each surge that occurred, analyzed and linked to the keyword search result data, namely "corona drug". The search for "corona pandemic" is more common than "corona outbreak" and "corona disease". the keywords “corona outbreak”, “corona pandemic”, and “corona disease” have a significant relationship with “corona medicine” with the same p value of 0.000, where the p value is <0.05. Google Trends has the potential to become the most keyword search monitoring tool during the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia.Keywors : Corona outbreaks, corona disease, corona pandemic, corona medicine, google trends

Abstract

In combating COVID-19, maintaining the immune system is important. Providing this information to the general population will increase public awareness towards improving their immune system. The use of Google Trends for exploring web behavior related to a topic or search term also considered as a tool for monitoring public awareness to help risk communication during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, this study was conducted to assess the use of Google Trends to monitor public awareness to immune system improvement during the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. This quantitative and qualitative research used time-series data from 31 December 2019 to 2 May 2020. The time-lag correlation analysis was performed to compare between relative search volume (RSV) of “Vitamin C”, “Vaksin” (Vaccine), “Berjemur” (Sunbathing) from Google Trends (GT), and the number of reported COVID-19 new cases. Validation using time-lag correlation shows the significant correlation between RSV keywords related to public awareness towards immune system improvement and the number of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia in 1-3 days before an increase in the number of cases occurs. Google Trends has the potential to become an early warning system and a tool for monitoring risk communication towards immune system improvement during the COVID-19 pandemic by Indonesia Government.

Abstract

Medical students in clinical rotation level have been developed comprehension and implementation of empathy, considering that they have already dealt with patients in the first hand, whereas professionalism and ethics are two main competences as a physician. This study aims to discuss and investigates determinants of medical students’ empathy towards their patients during clinical rotation in the hospital. A qualitative study with phenomenology approach using focus group discussion (FGD) was accompanied with an open-ended questionnaire to serve as preliminary data and basis of FGD topic guidelines involved fourth and fifth grade medical students that has to pass one and/or two of these stages out of the 15 stages in clinical rotation. As much 191 students participated of the written questionnaire and 28 students agree upon voluntarily joining the FGD, which is held with a snowball sampling approach and finishes in five batches. The three main determinants are: i) Internal factors: knowledge about the importance of empathy, direct experience, personality, motivation, mood (emotion), and personal experience; ii) Patient’s and patient’s family factors: patient’s attitudes, patient’s family’s attitudes, patient’s socioeconomic status, patient's illness type and severity; and iii) Environment factors: burnout, satisfaction or appreciation in the job, work environment, and role models. Many factors influence medical students in expressing and implementing empathy as they are taught to do to their patients. Medical school as an institution responsible for upholding the professionalism and ethical standard can help to create more suitable environment for the students to ensure maximum learning experience.

Abstract

Majority of medical students choose clinical specialties as their career choice, compared to other medical fields. This study aimed to finding an effective model of career exploration behaviour in medical students to construct effective career interventions. This study obtained 1030 students of medical faculties in Indonesia. All data used an online survey questionnaire that was collected starting from October 12th-25th 2015. Data analysis used Partial Least Square-Path Modelling using R statistical software to create a model in order to find correlation and pathway among each variable. The result showed both direct and indirect correlation towards the variables studied. Personal accomplishment had a stronger influence on self-efficacy (β=0.317, p<0.001). This study concluded that verbal persuasion and self-efficacy correlate directly to career exploration. All variables are related to career exploration in medical students. Educators and policymakers are able to construct intervention in this area to encourage medical students to start exploring career options early.

Abstract

During COVID-19 pandemic, social media has become a basis for information deployment, it has the potential to change people opinion and solve many issues in this situation. Based on Protection Motivation Theory (PMT), threat and coping appraisal were predictors to behavioral responses in pandemics. This study aimed to analyze the impact of social media intervention in adult population during COVID-19 pandemic based on PMT. This review was created using Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) and data collection from electronic databases such as Pubmed, Mendeley app, Europe PMC, Cochrane Databases, Science Direct, and Wiley Online Library. Inclusion criteria consists of English studies, studies related to the topic and match with required variables. There are five cross-sectional studies involving a total of 2.448 participants that were published in 2020. Among all categories based on included studied, it was shown that cyberchondria, perceived severity and perceived vulnerability are predictors in social media, related to behavioral responses during COVID-19 pandemic. Reducing information overload, related to cyberchondria, via the clear structuring and communication of reliable health information is needed. Hence, educating people on responsible and healthy social media use could help alleviate the observed negative consequences from perceived severity and vulnerability.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic is such a barrier for health systems around the world including Indonesia. Primary care is the first-line in controlling the pandemic at the community level, but there are many barriers and challenges faced by doctors during the service that are not fully recognized. This aimed to distinguish barriers and challenges in health centers and/clinics amid the COVID-19 widespread. This was qualitative study with a phenomenological approach. As much 44 health centers/clinical specialists interviewed in October 2020. Then, the data categorization method/coding and content analysis used. There were three themes related to the barriers and challenges confronted by specialists in health centers/clinics, specifically barriers and challenges based on service management, environment, and individuals. The barriers and challenges confronted are related to changes within the consultation flow, a diminished number of patient visits, limited supplies of personal protective equipment (PPE), patient states of mind and behavior within the confront of a pandemic, and progressively heavier burdens and duties for doctors. It is necessary to provide specific, valid, and right-on-target knowledge in improving community behavior in efforts to prevent COVID-19 infection and the government's important role to be more concerned about the future of health workers.

Abstract

Effective communication skill applied by doctors in the doctor-patient consultation process becomes one of important factors that can improve the consultation outcomes such as patient satisfaction, adherence to treatment and recovery process. However, effective doctor-patient communication is rarely applied in practice. Limited consultation time, patient overload, doctor burnout, and poor communication skills are among the factors that cause ineffective doctor-patient communication process. This study aimed to develop a new effective communication guideline for doctor-patient communication in Indonesia by modifying the Calgary Cambridge medical interview guide. This study uses qualitative approach within four stages: expert panel, student panel and focus group discussion, expert review, and trials. Informants were chosen purposively. Three points of high category, 24 points of middle category and 44 points of low category are resulted from expert panel stage which consists of specialist representatives from 12 clinical divisions in Dr. Moehammad Hoesin central public hospital (RSMH), Palembang, South Sumatera, Indonesia. The high and middle category were discussed by two groups of internships doctors in RSMH in student panel and focus group discussion (FGD) session. The results were validated by a doctor-patient communication expert (expert reviewer) and then tested by the internship doctors through role play at the trial stage. The final result yields eight main points and eleven effective tips of the Calgary Cambridge Guide checklist modification with five to six minutes effective consultation time. This modified guideline is appropriately applicable for doctor-patient communication in daily consultation in Indonesian practical, social and cultural context.

Abstract

The currently ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic induced built-up fear and anxiety notably with non-stop surge information through all media. Understanding of emotional and mental health impact during this state is urgently needed for further intervention. This study aimed to identify the current pattern of depression, anxiety, stress and, emotional disorder presented in the society and the association between Indonesian news-seeking behaviour and their mental health state during the COVID-19 outbreak. A cross-sectional study with 1,508 respondents was carried out with online questionnaire consisted of depression, anxiety, and stress scale (DASS) and SRQ-20 as assessment tools that was distributed through social media platforms from April 2−June 8, 2020. Data was analyzed using Mann Whitney, Kruskal Wallis, Post Hoc with Bonferroni, and Chi-square test (p<0.05). As much as 20.7% of respondents were depressed, 36.9% had anxiety, 25.5% had been stress, and 27.6% had emotional disorder. Most respondents actively searched about COVID-19 especially through television and social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Type of news and level of trust in COVID-19 news were the factors that influenced emotional and mental health state (p=<0.05). Providing mental health support in a timely and appropriate manner through a hotline team, media, or multidisciplinary team, including mental health professional is an important thing that the Indonesian government must do to help the Indonesian people through this pandemic.
