Abstract

Intrinsic motivation plays an important role in encouraging individuals to grow both personally and professionally in order to achieve their desired careers. This study aims to explore the representation of intrinsic motivation as portrayed by the character Rara in the film 'Imperfect' in the process of career development and audience perception. Using a descriptive qualitative method, this research provides in-depth observations on how intrinsic motivation plays a crucial role in the formation of professional identity, resilience in facing external pressure, and success in developing an authentic career. The character Rara is depicted as an individual whose physical appearance does not meet beauty standards, who constantly faces discrimination, and struggles with low self-esteem. Rara's intrinsic motivation is evident in her career development, where the drive to change and improve her quality comes from internal needs. Her decision to change her appearance to attain a managerial position is based on a personal desire to prove her abilities and gain recognition for her competence as well as achieve self-growth. Intrinsic motivation can clash with workplace norms when personal values conflict with organizational expectations. Through the film, viewers are introduced to the importance of intrinsic motivation in shaping an authentic career journey and social criticism regarding beauty standards. This research shows that the role of visual media, such as film, plays a crucial role in shaping society's understanding of intrinsic motivation, providing an opportunity to educate viewers about the importance of intrinsic motivation in career development.

Abstract

Leadership is a crucial factor in the context of education, particularly in areas with limited resources. This study aims to comprehensively and in-depth describe the leadership style used by the teacher character in the film Laskar Pelangi. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with in-depth observation of scenes, dialogues, and character behavior as the main data sources. The results show that the leadership style displayed in the film is transformational and humanistic, characterized by motivation, empowerment, individual attention, and active collaboration between teachers and students. This leadership has a positive impact on the development of character and enthusiasm for learning among students despite limitations. Furthermore, this leadership style is aligned with the principle of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) number 16, which emphasizes fair leadership and the ability to build trust for social and educational progress. This study strengthens the understanding that effective leadership is the art of motivating and inspiring in facing educational challenges. For further research, it is recommended to examine the influence of this leadership model in the real educational context in the field using mixed methods to strengthen the validity of the results.

Abstract

Leadership research is not only relevant within organizational contexts but also important to study within the family environment. The film 1 Kakak 7 Ponakan presents an interesting family leadership dynamic that can be analyzed, particularly through the role of Moko as a parental figure substitute. The purpose of this study is to explore how family leadership is represented by Moko and to examine its relevance to the transformational leadership approach. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a narrative approach, conducted through direct observation of key scenes depicting interactions between Moko and his seven nieces and nephews. The findings reveal that Moko prioritizes the family's interests above his own, even sacrificing his personal ambitions for the future of his nieces and nephews. He is also able to motivate, set an example, and foster a sense of togetherness through strong emotional bonds. Moko’s leadership reflects transformational aspects such as sacrifice, shared vision, and the development of collective awareness within the family. These findings contribute significantly to leadership studies by demonstrating that transformational leadership values are not only relevant in organizations but can also be applied in everyday family life.

Abstract

Decision-making is crucial for both individuals and organizations because the quality of decisions made today will determine the direction and sustainability of the future. In educational and social contexts, sound decisions play a crucial role in realizing justice, equality, and progress at the institutional and societal levels. This article focuses on the analytical decision-making style demonstrated by Minke in the film Bumi Manusia (2019), examining the main character's thought processes and actions when facing complex situations. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method through film observation, by closely observing scenes, dialogues, and interactions between characters, then analyzing them based on analytical decision-making theory. The results reveal that Minke consistently demonstrates an analytical decision-making style in several key events, such as choosing an intellectual path through writing, supporting Nyai Ontosoroh's struggle, continuing his education despite facing discrimination, rejecting offers from colonial officials, and maintaining loyalty to Annelies. These decisions reflect a structured mindset, a long-term orientation, moral courage, and integrity grounded in humanitarian values. These findings suggest that an analytical style is an effective strategy in facing social and political challenges because it combines analytical acumen with a moral foundation. Thus, this research contributes to enriching insight into the dynamics of decision-making and opens up opportunities for further studies on other decision-making styles in the representation of film as a popular medium.

Abstract

Kesuksesan sering dikaitkan dengan ketekunan dan kemampuan manajemen diri. Namun, tidak semua individu mampu menghadapi tantangan sosial, ekonomi, dan psikologis yang dapat menghambat pencapaian tujuan hidup. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis representasi strategi manajemen diri dalam film Mimpi Sejuta Dolar serta mengaitkannya dengan perspektif teoretis. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif, penelitian ini menafsirkan adegan-adegan film yang merefleksikan lima komponen manajemen diri: pengetahuan diri, regulasi diri, perencanaan diri, motivasi diri, dan evaluasi diri. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tokoh utama, Merry Riana, secara konsisten menerapkan kelima komponen tersebut sehingga mampu menjaga fokus, ketangguhan, dan kemajuan meski menghadapi berbagai kesulitan. Studi ini menegaskan bahwa film dapat menjadi media pembelajaran non-formal yang relevan, sekaligus menyoroti pentingnya manajemen diri dalam kehidupan nyata. Penelitian selanjutnya dapat memperluas kajian dengan menganalisis representasi media lain untuk memperkaya pemahaman keterampilan manajemen diri abad ke-21.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Saat ini, penggunaan teknologi digital membuka banyak peluang dalam membentuk karakter dan membangun kepemimpinan, terutama melalui platform belajar online dan media sosial yang mendorong partisipasi generasi muda. Namun, pengembangan ini sering kali hanya fokus pada aspek teknis dan kecepatan dalam menyampaikan informasi, sehingga kurang memperhatikan pembentukan nilai moral, etika, dan tanggung jawab sebagai bagian penting dari kepemimpinan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana nilai-nilai kepemimpinan transformasional ditunjukkan oleh tokoh Simba dalam film The Lion King, sebagai upaya memahami bagaimana cerita populer bisa menjadi media untuk membangun kepemimpinan yang jujur dan bermoral. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan fokus pada empat aspek utama,yaitu pengaruh ideal, motivasi yang memotivasi, pengembangan intelektual, dan pertimbangan individual. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perubahan Simba dari sosok yang menghindari tanggung jawab menjadi seorang pemimpin yang berani dan adil memberikan contoh kuat tentang pentingnya kepemimpinan yang didasari nilai. Penelitian ini diharapkan bisa melengkapi pendekatan teknologi dalam pembentukan kepemimpinan dengan memperkuat aspek karakter dan moralitas. ABSTRACT Currently, the use of digital technology opens up many opportunities in shaping character and building leadership, especially through online learning platforms and social media that encourage youth participation. However, this development often focuses only on technical aspects and speed in delivering information, thus neglecting the formation of moral values, ethics, and responsibility as important parts of leadership. This study aims to analyze how transformational leadership values are demonstrated by the character Simba in the movie The Lion King, in an effort to understand how popular stories can be a medium for building honest and moral leadership. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with a focus on four main aspects, namely idealinfluence, motivating motivation, intellectual development, and individual consideration. The results show that Simba's transformation from a figure who avoids responsibility to a brave and fair leader provides a strong example of the importance of values-based leadership. This research is expected to complement the technological approach to leadership development by strengthening character and morality aspects.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Kepemimpinan adalah kemampuan seseorang dalam mengarahkan dan mempengaruhi orang lain agar mau bekerja sama mencapai tujuan yang telah ditetapkan. Seorang pemimpin idealnya tidak hanya memberi arahan, tetapi juga mampu menjadi inspirasi dan penggerak perubahan. Dalam prosesnya, nilai integritas, keberanian, dan rasa tanggung jawab memiliki peran penting dalam membentuk kepemimpinan yang efektif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis representasi kepemimpinan transformasional dalam film Menolak Diam! yang menyoroti perjuangan melawan ketidakadilan di lingkungan sekolah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan naratif, melalui pengamatan adegan serta kajian teori kepemimpinan dari berbagai sumber. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tokoh utama berhasil mempengaruhi lingkungan sekitarnya melalui semangat perubahan, kejujuran, dan kepedulian terhadap keadilan sosial. Namun, pendekatan tersebut juga memunculkan tantangan karena tidak semua pihak dapat menerima perubahan yang ditawarkan, seperti Alif yang akhirnya harus menghadapi tekanan dari pihak sekolah dan lingkungan sekitar saat memperjuangkan keadilan. ABSTRACT Leadership is the ability of a person to direct and influence others to work together to achieve predetermined goals. An ideal leader not only gives directions but is also able to inspire and drive change. In the process, the values of integrity, courage, and responsibility play an important role in shaping effective leadership. This study aims to analyze the representation of transformational leadership in the film Menolak Diam! (Refusing to Be Silent!), which highlights the struggle against injustice in schools. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with a narrative approach, through observation of scenes and a review of leadership theory from various sources.The results of the study show that the main character successfully influences his surroundings through his spirit of change, honesty, and concern for social justice. However, this approach also presents challenges because not everyone can accept the changes offered, such as Alif, who ultimately has to face pressure from the school and his surroundings while fighting for justice.

Abstract

AbstractLeadership is a factor that can determine the success of an organization in achieving its goals. This study aims to analyze the implementation of visionary leadership in the film Sultan Agung: Tahta, Perjuangan, Cinta (2018), on Sultan Agung’s character as a historical leader with long-term vision, moral courage, and a deep commitment to Javanese cultural values. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the research examines key scenes that depict Sultan Agung’s political strategies, inspirational communication, and personal sacrifices in resisting VOC colonialism. The film illustrates that visionary leadership is not solely about power, but also about shaping the people’s character through education and cultural preservation. Sultan Agung is portrayed as a religious, humanistic, and strategic leader who integrates local wisdom with sustainable development principles, aligning with SDG 16. This analysis affirms that film can serve as an effective educational medium to foster public understanding of leadership that is just, inclusive, and future-oriented. The representation of Sultan Agung also demonstrates how visionary leadership can build collective solidarity and historical awareness in the face of socio-political challenges. Thus, his character becomes a compelling reflection of leadership that remains relevant and inspirational within the contemporary Indonesian context. AbstrakKepemimpinan merupakan faktor yang dapat menentukan keberhasilan suatu organisasi dalam pencapaian tujuan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis implementasi gaya kepemimpinan visioner dalam film Sultan Agung: Tahta, Perjuangan, Cinta (2018), dengan fokus pada karakter Sultan Agung sebagai representasi pemimpin historis yang memiliki visi jangka panjang, keberanian moral, dan komitmen terhadap nilai-nilai budaya Jawa. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, penelitian ini mengkaji adegan-adegan kunci yang menampilkan strategi politik, komunikasi inspiratif, dan pengorbanan pribadi Sultan Agung dalam menghadapi kolonialisme VOC. Film ini menunjukkan bahwa kepemimpinan visioner tidak hanya berorientasi pada kekuasaan, tetapi juga pada pembangunan karakter rakyat melalui pendidikan dan pelestarian budaya. Sultan Agung digambarkan sebagai pemimpin religius, humanis, dan strategis yang mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai lokal dengan prinsip pembangunan berkelanjutan, selaras dengan tujuan SDG 16. Analisis ini menegaskan bahwa media film dapat menjadi sarana edukatif yang efektif dalam membentuk pemahaman publik tentang kepemimpinan yang adil, inklusif, dan berorientasi masa depan. Representasi Sultan Agung dalam film ini juga memper-lihatkan bagaimana kepemimpinan visioner mampu membangun solidaritas kolektif dan kesadaran historis dalam menghadapi tantangan sosial-politik. Dengan demikian, karakter Sultan Agung menjadi refleksi dari kepemimpinan yang relevan dan inspiratif bagi konteks Indonesia masa kini.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Kepemimpinan transformasional penting dipahami karena mampu mendorong perubahan dan memberi inspirasi bagi pengikut, namun dalam representasi fiksi seperti anime Naruto Shippuden nilai kepemimpinan ini sering dianggap sekadar hiburan, bukan refleksi nyata dari teori kepemimpinan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji bagaimana Naruto Uzumaki menunjukkan kepemimpinan transformasional melalui dialog dan tindakannya, serta menghubungkannya dengan praktik kepemimpinan modern. Metode yang digunakan merupakan deskriptif kualitatif dengan kajian naratif pada adegan yang relevan, berfokus pada empat dimensi kepemimpinan transformasional yaitu pengaruh ideal, motivasi inspiratif, stimulasi intelektual, dan perhatian individual. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Naruto mampu memengaruhi, menginspirasi, dan menumbuhkan keyakinan baik pada lawan maupun sekutunya, yang sejalan dengan teori kepemimpinan modern. Namun, kontradiksi muncul karena dalam dunia nyata penerapan kepemimpinan transformasional kerap terbentur birokrasi dan resistensi organisasi, hal yang jarang ditampilkan dalam narasi fiksi. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa media populer dapat menjadi sumber refleksi kepemimpinan, dan penelitian selanjutnya dapat memperluas kajian pada karya fiksi lain untuk dibandingkan dengan praktik nyata. ABSTRACT Transformational leadership is important to understand because it can drive change and inspire followers; however, in fictional representations such as the anime Naruto Shippuden, this leadership value is often perceived merely as entertainment rather than a reflection of actual leadership theory. This study aims to examine how Naruto Uzumaki demonstrates transformational leadership through his dialogue and actions, and how it relates to modern leadership practices. The method employed is qualitative descriptive, with a narrative examination of relevant scenes, focusing on the four dimensions of transformational leadership: idealized influence, inspirationalmotivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration. The findings indicate that Naruto is able to influence, inspire, and foster confidence in both allies and opponents, aligning with modern leadership theory. Nevertheless, contradictions arise because in the real world, the implementation of transformational leadership often encounters bureaucratic obstacles and organizational resistance—challenges rarely depicted in fictional narratives. These findings emphasize that popular media can serve as a source of leadership reflection, and future research could expand the study to other fictional works for comparison with real-world practices.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Kepemimpinan sering kali dikaitkan dengan organisasi dan institusi, tetapi juga muncul di dalam keluarga. Film Keluarga Cemara 1 menggambarkan Abah sebagai sosok ayah yang membimbing keluarganya melalui masa krisis setelah kehilangan stabilitas keuangan. Penelitian ini menganalisis bagaimana kepemimpinan Abah mencerminkan prinsip-prinsip kepemimpinan transformasional. Dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dan pendekatan naratif, adegan-adegan dalam film diteliti untuk menginterpretasikan perilakuAbah berdasarkan empat dimensi inti dari kepemimpinan transformasional. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Abah mencerminkan integritas, memotivasi anak-anaknya dengan optimisme, mendorong tanggung jawab dan pemikiran kritis, serta memberikan perhatian individu untuk membangun kepercayaan. Karakteristik ini memungkinkan keluarga untuk menyesuaikan diri dan tetap bersatu dalam situasi sulit. Penelitian ini menyarankan bahwa film-film populer dapat berfungsi sebagai media pendidikan dengan menyajikan contoh konkret kepemimpinan yang relevan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari. ABSTRACT Leadership is often associated with organizations and institutions, yet it also emerges within families. The movie Keluarga Cemara 1 presents Abah as a father who guides his family through crisis after losing financial stability. This research examines how Abah’s leadership reflects the principles of transformational leadership. Applying a qualitative descriptive method with a narrative approach, film scenes were analyzed to interpret Abah’s behaviors based on four core dimensions of transformational leadership. The results indicate that Abah exemplifies integrity, inspires his children with optimism, encourages responsibility and critical thinking, and provides individual attention to build trust. These qualities enable the family to adapt and remain united in difficult situations. The study suggests that popular films can serve as educational media by portraying practical examplesof leadership that are relevant to everyday life.
