Abstract

Feminist scholarship has advanced reinterpretive approaches grounded in principles of justice and gender equality. These approaches seek to deconstruct entrenched patriarchal biases in Quranic Interpretation. They validate women’s knowledge and experiences as authoritative epistemic sources. The Congress of Indonesian Women Ulama (KUPI) places women's bodily experiences at the center of its gender-fair Quranic interpretation. This article aims to explore the epistemological basis of such interpretation. It does so by examining women’s bodily experiences, interpretive strategies, and implications. Using primary sources, including official KUPI documents and relevant literature, this study employs content analysis from a feminist standpoint theory by Harding. The study concludes that KUPI recognizes the unique experience of women's bodily experiences as an epistemological base of interpretation. KUPI has a strategy to integrate women's perspectives and experiences in reading the Quranic text. This process begins with problem identification and reflection, and proceeds to the construction of a re-narration of verse interpretation. KUPI's choice to utilize women's bodily experiences supports the documentation of women's experiences and the transformation of women's body knowledge into collective knowledge and communal narratives. This process legitimizes women’s bodily experiences as new, legitimate, and authoritative knowledge. KUPI's interpretative model affirms women’s bodily experience as an epistemic subject. This study contributes to Quranic scholarship on feminist tafsir or exegesis. It asserts women’s bodily experiences as an epistemic authority in Quranic exegesis, breaking masculine dominance and producing an Indonesian gender-fair interpretation.

Abstract

This study addresses the growing need to reinterpret classical Javanese figures through an Islamic ethical lens, offering a unique framework for understanding indigenous models of moral leadership. Previous studies have not yet examined how the concept of leadership in Arjuna Wiwaha can be interpreted through the framework of Islamic moral and ethical principles. Therefore, this study offers a novel perspective by integrating Javanese cultural wisdom and Islamic leadership ethics to reinterpret Arjuna’s character as a model of moral and social leadership in the Javanese-Islamic context. The aim of this paper is to examine Arjuna's leadership as depicted in the Javanese puppet story of Arjunawiwaha, focusing on the integration of Javanese social wisdom and Islamic moral leadership. In the context of Javanese-Islamic reinterpretation, Arjuna, traditionally considered a holy man in Hindu-Buddhist legends, is reimagined as a perfect pioneer. Using a cultural hermeneutic approach and comparative analysis, this investigation examines how Islamic leadership principles, including trust (Siddiq), dependability (Amanah), insight (Fathanah), and the obligation to convey the truth (Tabligh), are integrated into Arjuna's leadership narrative. The study, furthermore, highlights key Javanese social values such as humility, resilience, and wisdom, adapted from Islamic moral lessons. Through a careful examination of Arjunawiwaha, this paper illustrates a method of social adjustment and integration, which examines knowledge of how Javanese Islamic characters shape conceptualizations of governance in conventional and modern environments. The use of an interdisciplinary approach that integrates Javanese cultural wisdom and Islamic leadership ethics in analyzing the character of Arjuna in the Arjunawiwaha is a perspective still rare in leadership studies based on classical Javanese literary texts. This research thus positions the Javanese-Islamic leadership synthesis as a relevant ethical paradigm in Southeast Asia and beyond. The finding also offers a framework for culture-based leadership training integrating Javanese and Islamic values to foster ethical, culturally sensitive, and spiritually grounded leaders.

Abstract

Titanium and its alloys are extensively applied in biomedical due to their light weight, corrosion resistance, and biocompatibility. However, conventional alloys such as Ti-6Al-4V possess a high elastic modulus (~110 GPa), much greater than that of natural bone (10-30 GPa), leading to stress shielding and delayed bone healing. To overcome this limitation, β-type titanium alloys with lower modulus have been developed, including Ti-12Cr, which is intended for spinal fixation implants. Previous studies have reported frequent surface cracking in HA layers, potentially reducing implant durability. In this study, bio-HA derived from scales of ikan kakap putih (Lates calcarifer), an abundant fishery by-product, was applied as a coating suspension. The natural collagen present in the scales was expected to enhance coating adhesion. HA layers were deposited on Ti-12Cr substrates using dip coating with dipping times of 20, 24, 34, and 40 seconds. The results show that HA derived from scales of ikan kakap putih exhibits good coating adhesion strength. This improvement in adhesion helps minimize cracking in the HA layer. The highest adhesion was achieved at a dipping time of 20 s, with only 2% of the coated area peeling off. In addition, the dip-coating process produced thin and uniform HA layers, with surface coverage reaching 98.14% at a dipping time of 40 s. The improved adhesion of the HA coating is expected to enhance osseointegration and reduce implant inflammation effects in biomedical applications.
