Abstract

This research explores how digital game-based learning models work in EFL classrooms to develop affective competencies among learners and evaluates their effectiveness. The research also investigates the obstacles that emerged during its execution. The main objective of the game-based intervention was to develop affective competencies among students during their English language learning process. The research used classroom action research to study 36 high school students in Surabaya through interviews and questionnaires. The research shows that digital games in classroom teaching boost student affective engagement while making learning more enjoyable and motivating. The research indicates that game selection remains challenging because it requires matching games to instructional targets, and teachers need specialized training to execute the approach effectively. The research findings offer essential knowledge to educational institutions and teachers about digital games as tools to enhance emotional student involvement in language education and improve academic quality.

Abstract

This study explores sociocultural factors based on Bourdieu’s theory (1987) and parenting styles based on Baumrind's theory (1991) to support children's EFL learning, emphasizing the perspectives and experiences of parents and families. This narrative case study encompasses six parents with children aged 5 to 11 years and families from diverse regions in Indonesia. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analysis of children's English language practice video documents. They were analyzed through deductive thematic analysis with NVivo software to explore prominent themes. The results reveal that sociocultural factors, predominantly the theme of social capital, supported by the role of habitus and cultural capital, alongside the authoritative parenting style, as reflected through parents' perspectives and experiences, with family support in have affected children's EFL learning. Moreover, sociocultural factors and parenting styles can also proficiently convey EFL learning values and foster a positive environment for English learning. It can be implied that the research has beneficial for the parents’ roles in creating a positive learning environment through balanced engagement of sociocultural factors and the utilization of appropriate parenting styles. Nonetheless, if the sociocultural factors are less than optimal, this is not a hitch because the appropriate parenting style can support them.

Abstract

This study examines the economic implications of cryptocurrency adoption in emerging markets, with particular emphasis on its potential to promote financial inclusion, reshape monetary policy frameworks, and facilitate cross-border trade. Emerging economies face persistent challenges such as limited access to banking services, high remittance costs, and vulnerability to currency instability, all of which create fertile ground for the adoption of digital assets. Cryptocurrencies, supported by blockchain technology, offer decentralized alternatives that can bypass traditional financial intermediaries and provide low-cost, efficient, and accessible financial services to underserved populations. At the same time, their integration into fragile financial systems raises important concerns about volatility, regulatory uncertainty, and the erosion of monetary sovereignty. To address these dynamics, this research adopts a mixed-methods approach that combines econometric modeling with qualitative policy analysis. Panel regression and instrumental variable techniques are employed to evaluate the relationship between cryptocurrency adoption, financial inclusion, and macroeconomic indicators across a sample of emerging markets from 2015 to 2025. Complementary qualitative data, including policy reports and expert interviews, are analyzed thematically to capture the perspectives of regulators, entrepreneurs, and development practitioners. The findings reveal that cryptocurrency adoption contributes positively to financial inclusion and lowers remittance transaction costs, particularly in countries with large unbanked populations and remittance-dependent households. However, widespread adoption also introduces risks, including exchange rate volatility, reduced effectiveness of monetary policy, and heightened exposure to illicit financial activities. By integrating empirical evidence with policy insights, this study advances the literature on digital finance and offers context-sensitive recommendations for the sustainable adoption of cryptocurrencies in developing economies.

Abstract

This study explores the role of mentoring and the utilization of MSMEs machinery as strategic factors in preparing effective business plans for young start-ups, with a focus on Thai snack micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Mentoring is examined as a source of guidance, knowledge transfer, and confidence building, while UMKM machinery is considered as a technological variable that enhances production efficiency and product quality. Using a case study approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis from selected Thai snack MSMEs. The findings indicate that mentoring significantly improves entrepreneurs’ ability to structure comprehensive business plans, identify market opportunities, and manage risks. Simultaneously, the adoption of UMKM machinery contributes to operational scalability and competitiveness, enabling young start-ups to meet market demand more effectively. The integration of mentoring and machinery adoption provides a synergistic effect, resulting in stronger strategic planning and sustainable business growth. This study highlights the importance of combining human capital development with technological adoption to support the success of young entrepreneurs in the MSME sector.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the influence of empowering leadership, overtime work, and overtime incentives on the job satisfaction of Generation Z employees at Kuningan Regency, with employee mental health as a mediating variable. The research was motivated by the fluctuating employee turnover rate over the past three years and increasing challenges in managing Gen Z employees. A quantitative approach was used, employing Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) through AMOS. A total of 156 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. The results showed that empowering leadership did not significantly affect mental health, but had a direct positive effect on job satisfaction. Overtime work had a positive effect on mental health but a negative effect on job satisfaction. Overtime incentives did not significantly affect mental health, but had both direct and indirect positive effects on job satisfaction through mental health. Mental health played a significant mediating role in the relationship between overtime work and overtime incentives with job satisfaction, but not in the relationship between empowering leadership and job satisfaction. The model demonstrated a good level of fit. These findings highlighted the importance of balanced management of overtime and incentives, as well as the critical role of mental health in improving Gen Z employee satisfaction.

Abstract

Digital-based education, including virtual learning environments, has gained traction within the community. However, it is essential to acknowledge that not all online learning experiences are without drawbacks; they come with advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, the primary objective of this study is to investigate the perspectives of student candidates aspiring to become elementary school teachers regarding their experiences with online learning via virtual environments. The research methodology employed here is descriptive and qualitative. The study encompasses a participant pool of 60 students in their fifth semester. The findings of this research reveal that, on the whole, students exhibit satisfaction and comfort in using virtual learning environments. The incorporation of virtual learning environments contributes to a resource-efficient learning approach. Additionally, implementing these virtual environments nurtures self-confidence and independence among learners. Notably, the most significant advantage of online learning via virtual platforms from home is the ability to store learning materials, enabling students to revisit them as needed. This condition is made feasible by downloading online learning materials, allowing children to save and access them conveniently. However, challenges persist, including weak internet signals, limitations in delivering all materials online, and the students' demand for practical material examples.
