Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of Islamic Corporate Social Responsibility (ICSR), Good Corporate Governance (GCG), and Zakat Performance Ratio (ZPR) in improving the financial performance of Sharia commercial banks (BUS) in Indonesia during the period 2019-2023. Financial performance in this study proxied using Return on Asset (ROA). Using quantitative methods with panel data regression approach and the best Fixed Effect Model, the research sample consisted of 6 buses that meet the criteria of purposive sampling. The results showed that partially, ICSR and ZPR variables did not positively affect the financial performance of the BUS. These findings imply that increased social activity and zakat disbursements have not been significantly translated by the market as improved short-term financial performance. However, GCG variables were found to have a positive and significant effect on financial performance, emphasizing that good corporate governance practices are the main drivers of BUS financial performance. Overall, these results suggest that strengthening GCG is a key focus that management should emphasize to improve the financial performance of buses.

Abstract

The digital transformation following the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the adoption of technology-based flexible working arrangements. In Indonesia’s Islamic public sector, particularly within Islamic Higher Education Institutions, the implementation of flexible working arrangements remains limited due to technological constraints, bureaucratic culture, and challenges in integrating digital HR systems. Research examining the relationship between technology-based flexible working, work-life balance, and employee productivity—along with the moderating role of the Islamic work ethic—remains scarce. This study aims to investigate the effect of technology-based flexible working on employee productivity, with work-life balance as a mediating variable and the Islamic work ethic as a moderating variable. Employing a causal-correlational design and survey methodology, the study sampled 440 lecturers and educational staff from Islamic Higher Education Institutions in Indonesia, selected through simple random sampling. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS version 4.1.1.4. The results indicate that technology-based flexible work arrangements increase employee productivity but negatively impact work-life balance. Work-life balance serves as a crucial mediator bridging the relationship between flexibility and productivity. Additionally, the Islamic work ethic plays a dual role: it directly predicts work-life balance and moderates the relationship between work flexibility and balance, strengthening this association. The findings imply that organizations must do more than merely adopt technology; they must also safeguard work-life balance and internalize the Islamic work ethic to achieve sustainable productivity. Limitations of this study include its cross-sectional design and focus on the Islamic cultural context, suggesting that generalization to other sectors requires longitudinal and cross-cultural research.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and prove empirically the effect of liquidity and financing risk, either partially or simultaneously, on profitability at Sharia Rural Banks (SRB) in Indonesia during the period 2021 to 2024. This study uses a quantitative approach with monthly secondary data sourced from the Islamic Banking statistical reports of the Financial Services Authority (OJK). Data analysis techniques used are descriptive statistics, classical assumption test, and hypothesis test. The test results showed that liquidity has a positive and significant effect on the profitability of SRB, which indicates that optimal liquidity management is crucial in achieving profits. In contrast, variable risk financing (NPF) was found to have no significant effect on SRB profitability, implying that SRB may have implemented effective risk mitigation strategies to mitigate the impact of NPF on net income. And simultaneously the liquidity and financing risk variables do not affect the profitability of the SRB in Indonesia. These findings provide practical implications for SRB management and regulators to focus strategies on balancing cash availability with productive financing allocation in order to achieve sustainable profitability.

Abstract

The rapid growth of the digital economy presents significant opportunities for strengthening the economic resilience of rural communities; however, many rural micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) continue to face constraints in digital literacy and technology utilization. This community service program aimed to enhance the digital capacity of MSME actors in Kedaung Village through structured training and intensive mentoring on digital literacy, online marketing, and digital payment systems. The program employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach involving 30 MSME participants and was implemented through stages of needs assessment, training, mentoring, and evaluation. The results demonstrated a substantial improvement in participants’ digital literacy, with average scores increasing from 48% in the pre-test to 82% in the post-test. Furthermore, 67.5% of participants successfully established online marketplace accounts, 87.5% actively utilized social media for product promotion, and 50% adopted QRIS as a digital payment method. These findings indicate that practice-based training combined with continuous mentoring effectively accelerates digital adoption among rural MSMEs. The program contributes to the development of a sustainable digital village model by strengthening MSME competitiveness, expanding market access, and supporting inclusive rural economic growth. Keywords: digital literacy; rural community empowerment; MSMEs; digital economy; QRIS

Abstract

The development of information technology has become a major factor in driving digital transformation in various business sectors, including Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Digital transformation through the use of information systems has been proven to improve organizational performance, support innovation, and improve data-based decision-making processes at the small and medium business scale.  Manual recording is still frequently used by Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), including those engaged in the car rental sector. This practice can create vulnerabilities to recording errors, resulting in inaccurate information. To address this problem, this study developed an Android-based car rental system to assist business owners in managing their operational activities. The research stages referred to the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) method, using the Waterfall model. The resulting system includes customer data management, rental transactions, and rental duration. In addition, the system is equipped with a blacklist feature. This feature is a customer risk management feature that blocks problematic customers based on their previous transaction history. To ensure the suitability of the system's functions, Black Box Testing was conducted. The test results showed that all the system features functioned as expected. The results of this study are expected to help car rental business owners monitor daily operational activities, including avoiding the risk of car loss due to problematic customers.
