Abstract

Introduction: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a leading cause of global morbidity and mortality, characterized by persistent respiratory symptoms and airflow limitation. Beyond pharmacological management, non-pharmacological interventions, particularly structured exercise training, are cornerstones of comprehensive care. This systematic review synthesizes evidence on the efficacy of various exercise interventions across the spectrum of COPD severity. Methods: A systematic literature screening was conducted on 80 sources, including randomized controlled trials (RCTs), systematic reviews, and meta-analyses. Studies were included if they involved adults (≥18 years) with confirmed COPD, examined structured exercise interventions (e.g., pulmonary rehabilitation, aerobic, resistance, traditional exercises), and reported on COPD management outcomes (exercise capacity, quality of life, dyspnea, exacerbations). Data were extracted on intervention characteristics, population demographics, primary and secondary outcomes, effect sustainability, study quality, and proposed mechanisms. Results: Exercise training consistently produced clinically significant improvements. Functional exercise capacity (6-minute walk distance) improved by a mean difference (MD) of 43.93 meters (exceeding the MCID of 30m) (McCarthy et al., 2015). Health-related quality of life showed meaningful gains in Chronic Respiratory Disease Questionnaire (CRQ) domains (MD 0.56-0.79) and St. George's Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ) total score (MD -6.89) (McCarthy et al., 2015). Dyspnea was significantly reduced (MRC score MD -0.64), and muscle strength increased (SMD 0.6 for resistance training) (Troosters et al., 2010; de Lima et al., 2020). Benefits were observed across settings (hospital, community, home), with home-based programs proving non-inferior to hospital-based for dyspnea outcomes (Wuytack et al., 2018). Supervised maintenance exercise reduced respiratory hospital admissions (RR 0.62) (Jenkins et al., 2018). Effects on lung function were generally modest, though traditional Chinese exercises showed significant improvements in FEV1 (Luo et al., 2016). Benefits tended to attenuate after 12 months without structured maintenance. Discussion: Exercise efficacy is mediated by multifaceted physiological (improved muscle oxidative capacity, reduced dynamic hyperinflation) and psychological (enhanced self-efficacy) mechanisms. Heterogeneity in outcomes is influenced by disease severity, intervention characteristics (duration, intensity, modality), and program setting. Key challenges include sustaining long-term benefits and ensuring adherence. The integration of behavioral strategies and accessible formats (home-based, telerehabilitation) is crucial for lasting impact. Conclusion: Structured exercise is a highly effective, safe, and essential component of COPD management, delivering clinically meaningful improvements in exercise capacity, symptoms, quality of life, and healthcare utilization across all disease stages. Future efforts should focus on personalizing interventions, developing effective long-term maintenance strategies, and improving equitable access through innovative delivery models.

Abstract

The environmental permit dispute between the Awyu Indigenous People and PT Indo Asiana Lestari highlights challenges in protecting indigenous rights and environmental justice in the Administrative Court. The main issue lies in the legal paradigm that prioritizes procedural aspects and material losses, while neglecting local wisdom, community participation, and long-term ecological impacts. This study aims to analyze the judicial paradigm in Administrative Court rulings and its implications for the protection of indigenous rights and environmental sustainability. Using normative legal research and the critical legal studies approach, the findings indicate that administrative court decisions reinforce structural injustice by limiting the definition of harm to material losses, without considering social and ecological damages. As long as the law remains unchanged, judges will continue to adhere to a procedural and formalistic approach. Therefore, legal reform is necessary, particularly a review of Article 53(1) of the Law on Administrative Court, to enable judges to consider social and ecological impacts in their decisions.

Abstract

The limited availability of fossil fuels and the growing demand for energy have led to a global energy crisis. Ethanol and DEE can be used as alternative energy to replace fossil fuels. Ethanol and DEE have high RON and oxygen content, as well as low viscosity, which accelerates the flame, thereby increasing torque and SI engine power. DEE is still rarely used as a gasoline blend, but its chemical characteristics can improve engine combustion. This study aims to compare the use of gasoline-ethanol and gasoline-DEE blends on SI engine performance. The test results prove that the DEE15 blend produces the highest torque value of 4.37 N.m or an increase of 28% compared to pure gasoline. The E15 blend produces the highest SI engine torque value of 4.31 N.m or an increase of 26% compared to pure gasoline. In addition, SI engine power increases by 28% in DEE15 and 26% in E15 compared to pure gasoline. From these test results, the use of a gasoline-DEE blend can improve SI engine performance better than gasoline-ethanol.

Abstract

Emotional problems among students can significantly hinder their social and academic growth, emphasizing the need to foster emotional intelligence during adolescence. This study investigates the low ability of students to recognize and regulate emotions, which affects their adjustment at school. A quantitative approach with a one-group pretest–posttest design was employed. The population included 329 eleventh-grade students at MA Negeri 2 Samarinda, with a purposive sample of six students identified as having low emotional intelligence. Data were collected using The Schutte Self-Report Emotional Intelligence Test (SSEIT) and analyzed through normality and paired sample t-tests. The average pretest score was 37.33, which increased to 71.00 after the group counseling intervention, showing an improvement of 33.67 points. These findings indicate that group counseling services significantly enhance emotional intelligence among eleventh-grade students, helping them better understand, manage, and express their emotions constructively.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of religious guidance through weekly recitations at the Nur Qolbu Sampit Mosque. The background of this study stems from the gap between the routine religious activities at the mosque and the limited depth of understanding and practice of Islamic teachings among the congregation. This study aims to analyze (1) the implementation of religious guidance through weekly recitations, and (2) the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data was obtained through observation, interviews with ustadz, mosque administrators, and congregations, as well as documentation studies. The results show that regular recitations are conducted through lectures based on classical texts, discussions, and interactive question and answer sessions. These  activities  have  been  proven  to increase  the  congregation's understanding of aqidah, fiqh, and akhlak, as well as have a positive impact on their worship, social behavior, and spiritual condition. The main supporting factors include adequate facilities, the competence of the ustadz, and the strong commitment of the mosque administrators. Conversely, inhibiting factors are related to fluctuating congregational attendance and differences in prior knowledge  levels. This study  emphasizes  the importance  of mosques  as centers for continuous religious education and provides recommendations for improving the effectiveness of mosque-based learning programs.
