Abstract

This study aims to describe the representation of the meaning of life through the characters' journeys in the novel Perahu Kertas by Dewi Lestari. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method with an objective approach. The primary data source is the novel Perahu Kertas. Data collection techniques involve intensive reading, noting relevant excerpts, and classifying data according to the research focus. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the meaning of life is represented through the struggle to achieve dreams, the courage to be oneself, the process of maturation through failure, the importance of social support, the tension between idealism and reality, and the belief that time plays a role in leading individuals to their life purposes. The characters' journeys demonstrate that life does not always go according to plan, yet every experience holds valuable lessons that shape human character.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the following: first, the planning of the implementation of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model assisted by audiovisual media in teaching essay writing to grade XII students at SMAN 5 Sungai Penuh; second, the implementation process of the PjBL model assisted by audiovisual media in teaching essay writing to grade XII students at SMAN 5 Sungai Penuh; and third, the evaluation of the implementation of the PjBL model assisted by audiovisual media in teaching essay writing to grade XII students at SMAN 5 Sungai Penuh. This study utilizes three main theories to analyze and discuss the findings: first, the learning of essay writing skills; second, the PjBL model assisted by audiovisual media; and third, the implementation of the PjBL model. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The data for this study include teaching modules, the essay writing learning process, and student worksheets (LKPD). The data sources, defined as the subjects from which data are obtained, include teachers, students, and the teaching and learning process. Data collection techniques used by the researcher are observation and interviews. The results of this study are threefold: first, thorough planning plays a crucial role in the successful implementation of the PjBL model assisted by audiovisual media; second, the implementation of the PjBL model assisted by audiovisual media increases student engagement in essay writing lessons; and third, the evaluation indicates that the PjBL method assisted by audiovisual media is more engaging compared to conventional methods. Thus, it can be concluded that the Project-Based Learning model assisted by audiovisual media has been effectively implemented in essay writing instruction for grade XII students at SMAN 5 Sungai Penuh.

Abstract

Background. This study examines posthumanist themes and ecological consciousness in the science fiction works of Dewi “Dee” Lestari, one of Indonesia’s most influential contemporary authors whose narratives frequently challenge anthropocentric worldviews. The background of this research lies in the growing global interest in posthumanist discourse, which critiques human-centered epistemologies and emphasizes the entanglement of humans, technology, and the natural environment. Purpose. The aim of this study is to analyze the narrative strategies, philosophical motifs, and ecological representations through which Dee constructs a posthumanist imaginary that destabilizes traditional boundaries between human and non-human agents. Method. The study employs a qualitative textual analysis method grounded in literary ecocriticism and posthumanist theory, drawing on close reading techniques and thematic mapping. Results. The results reveal that Dee’s narratives articulate a model of relational existence in which technology, consciousness, and ecological systems are interdependent rather than hierarchically ordered. Her work foregrounds ethical responsibility, cosmological humility, and the dissolution of rigid subject-object distinctions, offering a vision of scientific and spiritual evolution embedded within ecological awareness.   Conclusion. The study concludes that Dee’s science fiction significantly contributes to Indonesian literature by integrating posthumanist philosophy with ecological sensibility, encouraging readers to rethink the role of humans within a broader planetary network. This research highlights the relevance of Indonesian speculative fiction to global debates on ecological crisis and posthuman futures.

Abstract

Background. Fictional narratives have long functioned as a medium of social critique, articulating moral discourse and shaping collective consciousness within changing social contexts. In contemporary societies marked by ethical uncertainty, ideological polarization, and social transformation, literature increasingly engages with questions of moral responsibility, social values, and communal identity, positioning fiction as a reflective and critical social practice. Purpose. This study aims to examine how fictional narratives construct moral discourse and contribute to the formation of collective consciousness, highlighting literature’s role in critiquing social norms and ethical frameworks. Method. The study employs a qualitative interpretative approach through thematic and narrative analysis, drawing on moral philosophy and cultural theory. Selected fictional texts from diverse sociocultural contexts are analyzed using close reading to identify moral themes, narrative strategies, and representations of collective values. Results. The findings reveal that fictional narratives articulate moral discourse through character dilemmas, symbolic conflicts, and narrative judgment, enabling readers to engage critically with social norms. Literature fosters collective consciousness by transforming individual moral struggles into shared ethical reflection, thereby linking personal experience with broader social concerns. Conclusion. This study concludes that fiction functions as an influential form of social critique by mediating moral discourse and cultivating collective consciousness, affirming literature’s enduring relevance in ethical and social inquiry.

Abstract

Nagari Siguntur, located in Koto XI Tarusan District, Pesisir Selatan Regency, has great potential for cultural tourism. However, information related to the tourism profile, transportation access, infrastructure, and event schedules in the area is still unavailable, even on the official village website, which has led to tourism stagnation. This Community Service Program aims to provide training and assistance in developing digital content about cultural wisdom for the Nagari Siguntur officials as part of the Empowerment Forum for the Village Information System (SINAR) and AI integration. Through this program, the Nagari Siguntur officials are expected to be equipped and ready to establish an AI-assisted Village Information System (SINAR) that provides sufficient public information, thereby accelerating the realization of an independent village in terms of cultural information, with positive impacts on tourism and the local economy. The methods used include training sessions introducing basic concepts of culture and cultural wisdom, cultural content writing, interview techniques, journalistic ethics, and the use of social media platforms for publication, as well as workshops on writing engaging and informative cultural content and managing social media platforms such as websites.

Abstract

Background: Indonesia faces acute environmental crises, including deforestation and marine pollution, which are often disconnected from public discourse. While policy-based solutions are widely discussed, the potential of local literature as a vehicle for shaping ecological consciousness and fostering environmental ethics remains significantly underexplored in academic research. Purpose: This research aims to analyze the specific ecocritical strategies employed in contemporary Indonesian literary texts and to evaluate their effectiveness in raising environmental awareness and critiquing anthropocentric paradigms. Methods: An ecocritical textual analysis was employed as the primary research method. The study analyzed a purposive selection of prominent Indonesian novels and short stories published post-2000 that explicitly engage with themes of ecological degradation, local wisdom (kearifan lokal), and human-nature relationships. Results: The analysis reveals that these texts utilize distinct narrative techniques such as adopting non-human perspectives, invoking indigenous ecological knowledge, and portraying visceral environmental disasters to cultivate empathy. These strategies effectively translate complex ecological data into relatable affective experiences, challenging developmentalist narratives. Conclusion: Contemporary Indonesian literature functions as a vital and potent medium for environmental advocacy. By grounding ecological crises in local cultural contexts, these texts bypass defensive skepticism and successfully foster a critical environmental awareness that policy-making and scientific data alone often fail to achieve.

Abstract

Artikel ini menganalisis cerpen "Lelaki yang Menderita Bila Dipuji" karya Ahmad Tohari melalui lensa pendekatan ekspresif dan pragmatik guna mengungkap kritik terhadap budaya haus validasi. Di tengah masyarakat kontemporer yang cenderung mengejar pengakuan sosial, tokoh Mardanu hadir sebagai antitesis yang memandang pujian sebagai beban eksistensial. Dengan menggunakan landasan teoretis dari buku Pengantar Pengkajian Kesusastraan (Abdurahman, 2023), penelitian ini membedah bagaimana visi pribadi pengarang (pendekatan ekspresif) mencerminkan daya kontemplatif dalam menyikapi pergeseran nilai kemanusiaan. Lebih lanjut, analisis pragmatik digunakan untuk melihat bagaimana teks ini berfungsi sebagai ruang refleksi bagi pembaca modern untuk melakukan konkretisasi makna terhadap fenomena pencarian identitas melalui apresiasi eksternal. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa resistensi Mardanu terhadap pujian bukan sekadar bentuk kerendahan hati ekstrem, melainkan sebuah kritik tajam terhadap "polusi suara" sosial yang mengancam ketenangan batin. Melalui perpaduan kedua pendekatan ini, artikel ini menyimpulkan bahwa karya Tohari tetap relevan sebagai instrumen kritik sosial terhadap tirani validasi di era digital, sekaligus menawarkan redefinisi kebahagiaan yang berbasis pada integritas internal daripada pengakuan publik.

Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan menganalisis struktur dan nilai-nilai moral dalam cerpen “Laut Mogok” karya Tri Wahyuni melalui pendekatan struktural dan apresiasi moral. Alasan pemilihan cerpen ini karena memuat kritik sosial terhadap kerusakan ekosistem laut akibat aktivitas manusia. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik analisis struktural untuk mengkaji unsur intrinsik seperti tema, tokoh, penokohan, latar, dan amanat. Hasil menunjukkan tema krisis kepedulian manusia modern terhadap lingkungan laut. Tokoh digambarkan mengalami alienasi, kehilangan makna hidup, serta terjebak rutinitas mekanis. Latar dan suasana memperkuat perlambatan dinamika kehidupan akibat ulah manusia sendiri. Amanat menekankan pentingnya kesadaran kritis terhadap dampak modernisasi dan menjaga keseimbangan antara produktivitas dan nilai kemanusiaan. Karya ini menjadi cerminan sosial sekaligus sarana refleksi agar manusia lebih bijak menjaga keseimbangan hidup dan kelestarian lingkungan serta meningkatkan tanggung jawab kolektif dalam melindungi ekosistem laut bagi generasi mendatang melalui perubahan perilaku yang berkelanjutan dan berorientasi pada kelestarian alam secara konsisten dan bertanggung jawab.

Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis cerpen “Bintang Sirius” karya Luthfi Ahmad dengan menggunakan pendekatan struktural dan moral. Pendekatan struktural digunakan untuk mengkaji unsur intrinsik cerpen seperti tema, tokoh, alur, latar, sudut pandang, dan amanat. Sementara itu, pendekatan moral digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi nilai-nilai kehidupan yang terkandung dalam cerita. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa cerpen ini memiliki struktur yang utuh dan saling berkaitan dalam membangun makna. Selain itu, cerpen ini juga mengandung nilai moral yang kuat, seperti pantang menyerah, empati, kejujuran, serta pentingnya dukungan emosional. Dengan demikian, cerpen ini tidak hanya memiliki nilai estetis, tetapi juga memberikan pelajaran hidup yang bermakna bagi pembacanya.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis cerpen "Kutukan Cermin Buruk Rupa" karya Elizabeth Gabriela yang diterbitkan di Kompas pada 5 September 2021. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam analisis ini meliputi pendekatan intrinsik, psikologi sastra, dan moral. Pendekatan intrinsik digunakan untuk mengkaji unsur-unsur cerpen, seperti tema, tokoh, alur, latar, sudut pandang, dan gaya bahasa. Pendekatan psikologi sastra dan moral digunakan untuk memahami dampak penilaian fisik terhadap kepercayaan diri tokoh utama. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa cerpen ini mengangkat tema tekanan sosial terhadap standar kecantikan dan pengaruhnya terhadap psikologis individu. Pesan moral yang disampaikan adalah pentingnya tidak menilai seseorang hanya dari penampilan fisik, melainkan menghargai nilai kemanusiaan yang lebih dalam. Cerpen ini mengandung nilai moral yang relevan dengan kehidupan masyarakat modern.
