Abstract

Dayah sustainably transmits religious, intellectual, and spiritual traditions (Islamic Boarding Schools). Several Dayah Salafiyah in Langsa City, for example, are also involved in implementing and developing strategies for the cultivation of such religious cultures. To conduct a deeper examination, this phenomenological study examined the involvement, implementation, and strategies used in those Dayahs. Observations were used to collect data. Meanwhile, the data were organized using Miles and Huberman's qualitative data analysis framework. The findings indicated that religious activities based on religious culture at the Dayah Salafiyah in Langsa City were always developed in collaboration with the dayah's leaders, teungku dayah, santri, and community. To begin, the dayah's leader serves as a facilitator, motivator, and mediator in the students' and community's religious activities and a controller of the dayah's activities. Additionally, it is critical to remember that the most fundamental form of salafiyah dayah implementation promotes good behaviour. To ensure that the religious culture development program is carried out as planned, salafiyah education incorporates religious culture into all aspects of its operations. This strategy for religious culture development is carried out by establishing policies, habituation, and student awareness, exemplary behaviour, discipline, and civilization. The dayah's leaders have absolute authority to monitor and evaluate all efforts made by teachers and students to foster a strong religious culture in the school.

Abstract

This study aimed to discover 1) the goal of spiritual education of Tarekat  Sammaniyah at Learning Assembly of Ihya Ulumuddin Medan, 2) the contents of spiritual education of Tarekat  Sammaniyah at Learning Assembly of Ihya Ulumuddin Medan, 3) The Method of spiritual education of Taretkat Sammaniyah at Learning Assembly of Ihya Ulumuddin Medan, 4) The teachers/ Fasilitators of spiritual education of Tarekat  Sammaniyah at Learning Assembly of Ihya Ulumuddin Medan, 5) The Students of spiritual education of Tarekat  Sammaniyah at Learning Assembly of Ihya Ulumuddin Medan, 6) Facilities and infrastuctures of Tarekat  Sammaniyah at Learning Assembly of Ihya Ulumuddin Medan. This study used the qualitative research approach. The data was taken through intervew, observation and also takng documentation. The informan of this study was the principle concurently teacher (Called by Mursyid), Assistant of teacher (called by Khalifah), Students (Called by Salik) of Tarekat  Sammaniyah at Learning Assembly of Ihya Ulumuddin Medan. The data analysis was done by data reduction, presentation of the data and data verification. The results of this study were; 1) The aim of spiritual education was to know Allah, to remember, and also to look Allah by purification of the soul (Tazkiyatun Nafsi) and draw closer to the God (Allah) by cleansing the heart (Taqorrub Ilallah), 2) The contents of spiritual education were about Islam, faith, goodness, Syari’at, Hakikat, Ma’rifat and also Zikir (Remember of the God), 3) The method were bai’at, lecturing, remembering (rabithah, kafi’at, tawajjuh, khalwat /suluk), 4) The Mursyid was one who led and taught and also developed the Tarekat , he has an unbroken lineage up to Prophet, Jibril and Allah SWT. The level were; Syekh/Buya/Father, Vice Mursyid (Khalifah), Firstly, the Old Khalifah, Secondly, The young Khalifah. The qualities that must be possessed by the Mursyid / vice Mursyid were namely: pious, wise, be patient and merciful nature, able to keep secrets, trust, discipline, guarding the lust of the worldly desire, sincere heart, should not be disappointed seeing the students who have not succeeded yet, Maintaining self-esteem, prestige, may provide certain clues in certain circumstances, 5) The Students were people who have been sworn, and before being sworn, they should bathe taubat, pray taubat, and also pray hajat to study knowledge to Mursyid. The level of students/ Salik were mubtadi, mutawashithah, muntahi, 6) The facilities and infrastructures were Mosque, The Guest room for whom it may stay overnight, sound system, Suluk place, ablution place, tasbih, curtain for seclusion (khalwat).

Abstract

This research examines the renewal initiative at Dayah Ma'had al Ulum Diniyyah Mesjid Raya Samalanga Islamic School. This study focuses on the renewal initiative during the leadership of Abon Abdul Aziz and Abu Hasanoel Bashri. This research is qualitative research with a historical approach. This research indicates that the Al Aziziyah Samalanga Islamic Education Foundation's modernization began during the leadership of Abon Abdul Aziz in 1958 and culminated in Abu Hasanoel Bashry in 1989. Social factors had been the most dominant factors of modernization of Islamic education in the foundation, including the birth of Islamic and public universities in Aceh, the adoption of information and communication technology (ICT), the requirement of diplomas for teachers and education personnel, and the involvement of alumni in the foundation.

Abstract

The focus of this article is to find out the historical dynamics and intellectual network of pesantren in Bangka. The research method is the historical method of Kuntowijoyo's theory. The result of the research is that the dynamics of the history of Islamic boarding schools in the province of the Bangka Belitung archipelago began with traditional Islamic educational institutions, namely reciting the Koran, then Arabic schools and then developing into Islamic boarding schools. The historical range of the growth of the Islamic boarding school is in accordance with the path of Islamization and the traditional characteristics of Bangka Islam. Meanwhile, the intellectual network of the pesantren of the Bangka community started from the Mecca and Middle East networks around the 1910s. Then the network shifted to its own country, which spread to parts of Sumatra, East Java, West Java and Kalimantan as well as the island of Bangka itself in the decade of the New Order era until post-reformation around the 1970s until now.

Abstract

For the real intellectuals, truth is a search, a journey, a couse, an endeavor. They believe that truth can only be attained through series of painstaking process. The autobiographies of al-Ghaz?l? and Sardar are fine illustrations of this kind of search for thruth. Although al-Ghaz?l? and Sardar are separated by ten centuries, one can find clear parallels in antomy and procedures of their journeys in seeking truth. The present author attempts to analyse these autobiographies and shows why they could be a good example for young intellectuals.

Abstract

Abstract: This article elaborates institutions of quality assurance and accreditation of departments in the context of quality improvement at Graduate Studies of UIN-SU Medan. This qualitative research discovered the following: First, the Quality Assurance Unit of the Graduate Studies, which was established in 2016, has not been operational mainly due to lack of competence of its personnel and insufficient fund. Second, the main hindrances in accreditation process are poor understanding of departments’ management, limited support from stakeholders, and insufficient funding. The ‘mentoring’ of UIN-SU Medan Quality Assurance Office could not have been more helpful and indeed has solved some of the problems. However this practice has not been so useful in developing internal quality assurance culture. Despite the fact that its departments have undergone two to three accreditation procedures, the Graduate Studies has not been successful in delivering a better result.Abstrak: Peningkatan Mutu Melalui Akreditasi Pada Pascasarjana UIN-SU Medan. Artikel ini menganalisis kelembagaan penjaminan mutu dan pelaksanaan akreditasi program studi dalam konteks peningkatan mutu pendidikan di lingkungan Pascasarjana UIN-SU Medan. Penelitian yang menerapkan prosedur penelitian kualitatif ini menemukan: Pertama, Unit Penjaminan Mutu Pascasarjana yang dibentuk tahun 2016 tidak operasional karena tidak sesuainya kompetensi personel yang ditempatkan serta tidak tersedianya dukungan finansial. Kedua, kesulitan utama dalam proses akreditasi adalah pemahaman pengelola Program Studi tentang akreditasi yang sangat variatif; rendahnya budaya mutu sivitas akademika; dan terbatasnya dukungan finansial. Pendampingan dari Lembaga Penjaminan Mutu UIN-SU Medan sangat membantu. Sayangnya pendampingan ini, meskipun menyelesaikan masalah secara ad hoc tetapi tidak mendukung berkembangnya budaya penjaminan mutu internal yang baik. Dengan berbagai persoalan yang ada, peringkat akreditasi Program Studi di lingkungan Pascasarjana UIN-SU Medan belum mengalami peningkatan meskipun masing-masing Program Studi sudah menjalani dua atau tiga kali akreditasi.Keywords: PTKIN, penjaminan mutu, akreditasi

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini menganalisis tesis/disertasi tentang sejarah pendidikan Islam yang diajukan ke Pascasarjana UIN SU Medan. Penelitian menyimpulkan bahawa alasan utama memilih tema sejarah pendidikan Islam adalah kekaguman akan capaian masa lalu dan keyakinan kuat bahwa sejarah relevan terhadap pendidikan Islam masa sekarang. Mayoritas tesis/disertasi adalah tentang topik pendidikan Islam modern (69.4%) dalam setting Indonesia (66.7%) dengan topik yang paling populer adalah lembaga pendidikan Islam (44.4%). Mayoritas tesis/disertasi (69.5%) telah menggunakan metode sejarah secara konsisten, dengan referensi paling banyak adalah Kuntowijoyo dan Dudung Abdurrahman. Mayoritas mutlak (80.5%) telah merujuk kepada sumber-sumber primer dalam pengumpulan data sejarah. Meskipun semua sepakat tentang relevansi sejarah, hanya 10% tesis/disertasi yang secara khusus menjelaskan relevansi penelitiannya terhadap pendidikan Islam kontemporer, itu pun masih pada tataran teoretis. Karenanya, pemanfaatan temuan dari tesis/disertasi tersebut secara praktis masih memerlukan langkah lanjutan, yakni melalui proses modeling atau eksperimentasi.Abstract: The History of Islamic Education as a Theme for Student's Final Thesis at Postgraduate Level of Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara. This study surveys theses on history of Islamic education, submitted to Graduate Studies State Islamic University Medan both for master and doctorate levels. The study concludes that the main reasons to study the topic are admiration of past achievements and strong belief in its relevance to contemporary Islamic education. The majority of the theses concentrate on modern time topics (69.4%) of Indonesian Islamic education (66.7%) with the most popular topic being Islamic education institutions (44.4%). The majority of the theses (69.5%) have consistently used historical method. The most frequently cited works on historical methodology are those of Kuntowijoyo and Dudung Abdurrahman. An absolute majority (80.5%) of the theses refers to primary sources related to their topics. Despite expressive believe in the relevance of history, only 10% of the theses allocate special segment to explain the relevance of their study findings, albeit in rather theoretical tones. As such efforts are needed to further use these study findings into a more practical ways, probably through modeling and experimentation.Keywords: history, Islamic education, post graduate

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze personal ethics and time management on the study habits of students of the Islamic Religious Education Study Program (PAI), the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FTIK) of the Langsa State Islamic Institute (IAIN). This study uses a qualitative approach with phenomenological methods. The data collection was done by using interviews, observation, and documentation studies. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using data reduction techniques, narrative data presentation, conclusion drawing and data verification. The results of this study indicate that (1) students understand and practice learning ethics well in accordance with the ethical guidelines of students at IAIN Langsa, (2) students' time management in learning is divided into two, namely students who actively make daily activity schedule, plans and targets they want to achieve. achieved, while there are students who are in the inactive category in managing study time, and (3) the study habits of PAI FTIK IAIN Langsa students are classified into 2, namely 73% are active and enjoy learning alone and 27% are active and enjoy participating in group learning.

Abstract

Book publishers are a symbol of progress and civilization. The city of Medan was once the "prima donna" of book publishing in the 1990s. In the 2000s era, Medan was no longer the center of book publishing like the previous era. This article aims to analyze the existence of Islamic book publishers in Medan City in 1950-1990. This research uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method. Data acquisition, analysis, to test the validity of the data using reference materials. The results of this study indicate that the existence of Islamic book publishers in Medan City is not in doubt. Although currently the number of Islamic book publishers is very small, Islamic book publishers in Medan City have experienced a moment of progress. The existence of Islamic book publishers certainly greatly influences the transmission of knowledge, especially religious sciences. The death of the book industry, especially Islamic books, cannot be avoided. Various situations and conditions of the community also greatly affect the sustainability of the business of publishing Islamic books in the city of Medan. Considering the big role of publishers in disseminating knowledge, there should be efforts from related parties such as the government to revive publishing businesses, especially publishers of Islamic books. Because the existence of publishers is very important in building the intellectual quality of the nation. Abstract

Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif  untuk menyelidiki hal-hal yang terdapat lingkungan alami (natural) dan mencoba untuk menginterpretasi fenomena yang sedang terjadi. Penelitian kualitatif  dapat diartikan  sebagai kegiatan yang terencana, mencakup segala aspek penafsiran yang yang memudahkan partisipan  dan informan dapat terlihat. Pendekatan Penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan fenomenologi yang mengkaji penerapan bimbingan dan konseling dalam pembinaan akhlak di era digital. Adapun Subjek dan objek dalam penelitian ini adalah kepala sekolah, guru bimbingan dan konseling, guru akidah akhlak dan siswa kelas X, sedangkan Arsip BK, buku catatan kasus dan dokumen profil MAS Aisyiyah Kota Binjai merupakan data sekunder. Dalam pengumpulan data, metode yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Dalam menganalisis data peneliti menggunakan analisis kualitatif dengan langkah- langkah pemaparan data, reduksi data dan penarikan kesimpulan  Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa (1) Kondisi akhlak siswa kelas X terhadap perkembangan di era digital sudah cukup baik (2) Pelaksanaan bimbingan dan konseling  yang dilakukan guru BK berjalan dengan efektif dengan melaksanakan berbagai program BK (3) Hambatan dalam pembinaan akhlak siswa kelas X tentunya sebagian besar dipengaruhi oleh arus digitalisasi sehingga membuat perilaku mereka berubah (4) Solusi untuk mengatasi berbagai hambatan yang terjadi dalam membina akhlak di era digital yakni dengan adanya saling kerjasama antar pihak madrasah, orangtua serta para siswa  untuk selalu memajukan kegiatan layanan BK.
