Abstract

This study investigates academic ethics within Islamic higher education institutions, focusing on the impacts of technological advancements on academic integrity. As digitalization reshapes the landscape of education and scientific research, it offers both opportunities and challenges, particularly in preserving ethical standards. Digital misuse can undermine ethical principles, contributing to issues such as academic dishonesty and misconduct in scientific work. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, including observations, interviews, and document analysis. Findings reveal that Islamic higher education institutions uphold academic ethics grounded in national laws, regulations, and mutual agreements. However, there is limited engagement in research and academic activities by faculty and students, though no major ethical violations, such as plagiarism, were observed in the studied institutions. Despite efforts to enforce ethics, the digital era poses ongoing challenges, emphasizing the need for stronger ethical reinforcement in scientific endeavors.

Abstract

This article discusses the Islamization of ethnic Chinese in Medan City, 1961-1998. The entry of ethnic Chinese in Medan City has a different time span and two waves have occurred. The first wave began when the Chinese trade fleet came to visit the port and conducted trade relations, then the second wave when the Dutch needed workers engaged in plantations. In this study using historical methods. The procedures that have been implemented in this study are heuristics (collection of sources), verification (historical criticism), interpretation, and historiography. The Islamization of Chinese ethnics in the city of Medan is due to the belief that occurs in someone who wants to embrace Islam, not because of coercion that must be faced. This belief is attended by a special interest in getting to know Islamic teachings after comparing them with the teachings of other religions. In addition, because of the calm and comfort that is felt after embracing Islam.

Abstract

This article discusses the history of Kedatuan Urung Sapuluh Dua Kuta Hamparan Perak. The establishment of Kedatuan Hamparan Perak originated from the migration made by Karo people. Those who originally lived in the highlands, moved to the lowlands. Some of the reasons are that the soil conditions in the lowlands are much more fertile than the highlands. In addition, in the Karo community, the king's son is required to migrate and also open a new kingdom outside of his father's power and kingdom, with the aim of making the power of their descendants be greater. This writing uses the historical writing method, with four stages, namely; heuristics, criticism or verification, interpretation and historiography. Based on the information the writer got, the arrival of the Karo people to the lowlands seemed to be welcomed by the Malays who inhabited the area. This is because there has always been a relationship between highland and lowland people, especially in terms of trade. Not only in the trade sector, but also in matters of marriage, religion and economy. Many Karo descendants are married or intermarried with Malays. During the time of the Aru Kingdom, many Karo people had settled and became residents who had embraced Islam, they married Malays. Generally, the Karo people who have settled in the lowlands have embraced Islam, the Islamization is carried out by the Malays.

Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of providing a clear picture of the philosophical and sociological basis for the existence of traditional pesantren in the midst of modernization, so that it can be illustrated with strong reasons to remain with the traditional pesantren. The method chosen in this study is a qualitative method. In terms of approach, this research utilizes a field research descriptiveThe action taken by the researcher was to go to the 'field' to make observations about Against Modernization: The Existence of Traditional Islamic Boarding Schools in North Padang Lawas Regency. The findings in this study. First, the philosophical basis for the existence of traditional pesantren in the midst of modernization is the advice of the clergy, parents and because the kyai wishes to produce cadres of scholars, the great glory of teaching knowledge, and the wish to preserve the understanding of ahlussunnah wal jama'ah. The first two sociological foundations are that the pesantren still receives assistance and enthusiasm from the community, such as assistance with dormitories, classrooms, the Koran, and sending their children to these traditional pesantren. Second, because many alumni have succeeded, such as teachers, lecturers, DPR, DPRD and DPRI. The three traditional Islamic boarding schools in North Padang Lawas Regency still receive support from both the regional and central governments such as BOS funds, classrooms, multilevel dormitories and several other things. From this, the researcher concludes that traditional Islamic boarding schools will still be able to survive as they are typical in this modern era, if the traditional Islamic boarding school clerics have the right guidelines in developing their traditional Islamic boarding schools. So that the good aim is to prove to the public its ability to produce quality generations and be able to compete can be trusted by the wider community.

Abstract

In the 1980s the Pesantren Al-Mukmin Ngruki began to get a negative image. The pesantren is considered a candidate for the Negara Islam Indonesia (NII), because there are two founding figures, namely Abdullah Sungkar and Abu Bakar Ba'asyir. They were plotted as individuals and extremists against the Kartosuwiryo movement. Various negative accusations made in various momentums and media as well as slanted views on the Pesantren Al-Mukmin Ngruki are still in the spotlight by various parties. In fact, until now various negative assumptions and accusations from both the eyes of the domestic and international public are still leveled at the Pesantren Al-Mukmin Ngruki, whereas this has never been proven at all. This study aims to find and analyze the historical institutional dynamics of the Pesantren Al-Mukmin Ngruki in 1972-2021. The research method used is qualitative with a historical approach using four steps, namely: heuristics, criticism, interpretation and historiography. The results of this study reveal that the historical institutional dynamics of the Pesantren Al-Mukmin Ngruki have a religious background. This means that the establishment of the Pesantren Al-Mukmin Ngruki was the result of the missionary journey of preachers in Surakarta, bearing in mind that during the transition period from the Old Order government to the New Order government, the area of Surakarta was a communist base and became the main target of Christianization which needed the attention of Muslims.
