Abstract

The objective of this study is to examine the validity and reliability of performance evaluation rubrics when applied to Jakarta's cultural heritage structures, specifically focusing on the geometrical material. The Rasch Model, namely the Winstep version 3.73, will be utilized for analysis. The Rasch model offers benefits due to its ability to provide more precise estimations and identify flaws within the model. The rubric-based performance evaluation instrument is utilized to evaluate students' problem-solving abilities, with each problem being assigned a distinct rubric. A total of 381 students were sampled from two distinct schools located in North Jakarta and East Jakarta. The study's results indicate that the Cronbach's alpha value attained is 0.96, which is classified as excellent. The individual's dependability score is 0.91, which falls inside the excellent range. Similarly, the item's reliability score is 0.94, also classified as excellent. The item fit test conducted on the instrument indicates that there is no need to reject any items. The components in this performance evaluation instrument have strong validity and reliability, rendering it appropriate for evaluating student performance

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the content validity and internal reliability of a student performance assessment instrument for mathematics learning based on Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS). The participants of this study were 45 students from a private high school in South Tangerang, Banten. The instrument is a self-assessment questionnaire with 32 statements based on four dimensions of Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS), namely cognitive, social, emotional, and metacognitive. Content validity in this study uses Aiken's V index test, while internal reliability is analyzed using Cronbach's Alpha. The results showed that most items had fairly good validity with an Aiken's V value ≥ 0.60, but there were 11 items with values below 0.60 that needed improvement. Meanwhile, the reliability value of the instrument was very high with a Cronbach's Alpha value above 0.90 for each dimension and 0.986 overall. These findings confirm that the instrument is suitable for use as a comprehensive measurement tool in supporting mathematics learning transformation based on collaborative problem solving.

Abstract

Although Problem-Based Learning (PBL) has been implemented to foster critical thinking, evidence regarding the consistency of its effectiveness across instructional formats, subject domains, and geographical contexts in Indonesia remains fragmented. This meta-analysis quantitatively synthesized the effects of PBL on students’ critical thinking while examining implementation type, subject cluster, and geographical region as moderators. A systematic search of Google Scholar was conducted in May–June 2026 for peer-reviewed studies published between 2019 and 2026. Following PRISMA 2020 procedures, 100 records were identified and 22 studies involving 1,513 participants were included. Effect sizes were calculated using Hedges’ g and synthesized with a random-effects model in Comprehensive Meta-Analysis Version 3. The pooled effect was large and statistically significant (g = 1.487, 95% CI [1.018, 1.955], p < .001). However, heterogeneity was very high (I² = 92.90%), and the prediction interval crossed zero (−0.616 to 3.589), indicating contextual variation. Subject cluster and geography did not significantly moderate the effect, suggesting that the observed benefits were not systematically confined to particular disciplines or regions. In contrast, implementation type was a significant moderator, with Integrated PBL producing a larger pooled estimate than Pure PBL. The Assisted PBL estimate was imprecise, non-significant, and based on only two studies, precluding claims of superiority. The funnel plot appeared approximately symmetrical, although visual inspection alone could not rule out publication bias. Overall, implementation quality, scaffolding, facilitation, and contextual alignment appear more decisive than subject area or geography in shaping PBL effectiveness.

Abstract

This study aims to conduct a systematic review of mathematical creative thinking abilities and the affective factors that influence them based on national and international research findings. This study will piece together the pieces of the “puzzle” into a comprehensive big picture, resulting in evidence-based and theoretically sound recommendations. This study uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method with a descriptive analytical approach to empirical articles published between 2020 and 2025 in accredited national journals and reputable international journals. The results of the analysis show that mathematical creative thinking skills, which include indicators of fluency, flexibility, originality, and detail of ideas, have improved through the application of innovative and student-centered learning models, such as Creative Problem Solving, Project-Based Learning, SAVI, the Lesson Study-based Problem Solving model, and the Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education approach. In addition to learning strategies, a number of affective factors such as self-efficacy, self-regulated learning, motivation, perception of creativity, and learning style were found to contribute positively to the development of mathematical creativity. Conversely, mathematical anxiety was found to be an inhibiting factor that reduced flexibility and fluency of thinking. Additional findings also showed that computational thinking and perception of creativity played an important mediating role in the relationship between self-confidence and mathematical creative thinking skills. Overall, the study results emphasize the importance of a holistic approach that combines pedagogical innovation with strengthening students' affective aspects in an effort to develop mathematical creative thinking skills. Educators should not only focus on technical pedagogical training for teachers, but also provide guidance on managing students' psychological aspects. The synergy between innovative teaching methods and an emotionally supportive learning environment will be a major factor in producing a generation that is mathematically competent and creative.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the content validity of the Belonging-Supportive Deep Learning Environments (BSDLE) instrument, designed to measure students’ perceptions of belonging, social support, and acceptance within higher education settings. The validation process involved expert evaluations in educational psychology to ensure the relevance, clarity, and alignment of the instrument items with the intended constructs. Content validity analysis using Aiken’s V yielded values ranging from 0.85 to 1.00, indicating a very high level of expert agreement on item quality. These results confirm that the BSDLE instrument has a strong foundation of content validity and is ready for subsequent empirical application. As a follow-up, it is recommended to conduct a Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) to comprehensively assess construct validity in a larger and more diverse population.

Abstract

Kemampuan berpikir matematis merupakan keterampilan esensial dalam pembelajaran abad ke-21, meliputi berpikir kritis, kreatif, logis, analitis, dan pemecahan masalah. Mengembangkan kemampuan ini memerlukan pendekatan inovatif, seperti pembelajaran berbasis proyek atau penggunaan teknologi digital, untuk menggantikan metode konvensional yang berfokus pada hafalan. Informasi lebih lanjut tersedia di sumber-sumber yang dikutip. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah pembaca mendapatkan gambaran yang jelas mengenai berpikir matematis. Metode Penelitian yang digunakan adalah Systematic Literature Review, yang digunakan adalah tinjauan literatur yang bersumber dari Google Scholar dengan bantuan aplikasi Publish or Perish dengan rentang waktu 2017 hingga 2025 dan diperoleh dua belas artikel serta Google Book. Hasil penelitian dari artikel ini pembelajaran mendalam merupakan pendekatan pembelajaran yang strategis dan sangat penting dalam pendidikan matematika, karena mengasah siswa agar memiliki kemampuan berpikir matematis tingkat tinggi dan memiliki karakteristik yang positif dan membangun sehingga pengetahuan yang telah dimilikinya akan tersusun dengan struktur yang teratur.

Abstract

Mathematics education requires learning approaches that enable students to construct conceptual understanding through meaningful and contextual experiences rather than procedural memorization. One approach that aligns with this demand is the REACT learning model (Relating, Experiencing, Applying, Cooperating, Transferring). Despite its growing application, research on REACT in mathematics education, particularly in the Indonesian context, remains fragmented and tends to emphasize specific learning outcomes without systematically mapping its conceptual characteristics, implementation patterns, and reported effectiveness. Therefore, this study aims to synthesize empirical evidence on the implementation of the REACT model in mathematics learning through a Systematic Literature Review. This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) guided by the PRISMA protocol. Fifteen empirical articles published between 2015 and 2025 were selected from Google Scholar, Garuda, ERIC, and ScienceDirect databases. The selected studies were analyzed using thematic analysis and descriptive synthesis to identify trends related to REACT components, mathematics topics, educational levels, and learning outcomes. The results indicate that REACT is consistently framed as a contextual and constructivist learning approach that contributes positively to students' conceptual understanding and Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). The Relating and Experiencing stages are the most frequently emphasized components, reflecting a strong focus on contextualization and active exploration. Across the reviewed studies, improvements are most commonly reported in conceptual understanding and mathematical problem-solving ability, followed by gains in mathematical communication and representation. Several studies report the use of problem-oriented tasks and technology-supported activities within the REACT framework; however, such integrations remain limited and are not examined as independent intervention models. In conclusion, the findings suggest that the REACT learning model is effective in supporting meaningful and competency-based mathematics learning. Nevertheless, the integration of REACT with other instructional models or digital media remains underexplored in the existing literature, indicating the need for future research to investigate such hybrid implementations more systematically and empirically.

Abstract

Conceptual understanding is a crucial foundation in algebra learning, particularly in the topic of Systems of Linear Equations in Three Variables (SLETV), which requires mathematical representation, logical reasoning, and appropriate procedural selection. This study aims to analyze students’ errors in conceptual understanding when solving contextual SLETV problems based on the error analysis theory proposed by Clements and Ellerton. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed involving 36 tenth-grade students from a senior high school in North Jakarta. Data were collected through a conceptual understanding test as a preliminary study and a contextual SLETV problem-solving test as the main instrument. Two students were selected as key subjects, representing high and low levels of conceptual understanding. The findings indicate that students with high conceptual understanding made relatively minimal and partial conceptual errors. In contrast, students with low conceptual understanding predominantly exhibited conceptual, procedural, and application errors. Furthermore, the ability to represent concepts mathematically and to select and apply appropriate solution procedures emerged as the weakest indicators. These results confirm that insufficient conceptual understanding significantly contributes to students’ errors in solving contextual SLETV problems.

Abstract

Kemampuan komunikasi matematis merupakan kompetensi yang diperlukan peserta didik untuk memahami, menginterpretasikan, dan menyampaikan gagasan matematis secara tepat dalam proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi pengertian, jenis, dan indikator kemampuan komunikasi matematis melalui kajian literatur sistematis. Kajian ini dilakukan untuk mengisi kekosongan pemetaan indikator komunikasi matematis yang komprehensif berdasarkan publikasi nasional dan internasional terbaru. Metode penelitian menggunakan Systematic Literature Review dengan model PRISMA melalui tahap identifikasi, penyaringan, kelayakan, dan inklusi terhadap artikel yang diperoleh dari Google Scholar dan DOAJ sesuai kriteria yang ditetapkan. Hasil analisis terhadap 15 artikel menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan komunikasi matematis meliputi komunikasi tertulis, lisan, dan visual, yang mendukung peserta didik dalam mengekspresikan serta menafsirkan ide melalui bahasa, simbol, tabel, diagram, dan representasi matematis lainnya. Indikator komunikasi tertulis mencakup pengungkapan ide, pemodelan situasi nyata, dan evaluasi ide secara tertulis; indikator lisan meliputi penjelasan verbal, respons terhadap pertanyaan, dan presentasi solusi; sedangkan komunikasi visual mencakup interpretasi dan penyajian representasi grafis. Temuan ini memberikan landasan bagi pendidik dalam merancang strategi pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis peserta didik

Abstract

Traditional multiple-choice tests frequently fail to capture the subtle cognitive ability of mathematical abstraction in subjects like trigonometric ratio. The purpose of this study was to create and evaluate a performance-based evaluation tool to gauge students' proficiency with mathematical abstraction in the context of trigonometric ratio. Three constructed-response items made up the instrument, and each one was assessed using a unique analytical rubric that was in line with revised Bloom's taxonomy and abstraction processes. Following person-fit screening, 700 replies from 913 tenth-grade students in six Indonesian high schools were kept. Strong item fit, suitable threshold values, and high discrimination indices were found via Generalized Partial Credit Model (GPCM) analysis, demonstrating the instrument's efficacy in distinguishing between different levels of abstraction. Unidimensionality was confirmed by exploratory factor analysis, which had an excellent model fit and explained 41.0% of the total variance (RMSEA = 0.0301; TLI = 0.9775). Item difficulty levels matched the sample's ability distribution quite well, according to person-item mappings. The construct validity of the analytical rubric was further reinforced by high factor loadings and communalities. Results show that the created tool is theoretically and psychometrically solid, providing a strong means of evaluating Mathematical Abstraction in HOTS. The study demonstrates how GPCM-based analytical scoring may be used to capture complex cognitive performance and guide teaching strategies in accordance with the Merdeka Curriculum.
