Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the effectiveness of Islamic religious education teaching methods in increasing the critical reasoning of public high school students in West Kalimantan. This research method is qualitative research. Qualitative research is a research method used to understand social phenomena in depth. Researchers use this type of research, specifically case studies. This type of research allows researchers to explore perspectives, experiences, and meanings that may be hidden in the data collected in relation to analyzing the effectiveness of PAI teaching methods in improving the critical reasoning of state high school students in West Kalimantan. Meanwhile, the research subjects were two PAI teachers from different high schools. The results of the research show that the quality of teachers and teaching methods in PAI classes is still a major concern. Learning methods that tend to be conventional and less interactive can affect students' involvement and critical reasoning. Students' interest in religious subjects tends to be low, partly due to the perception that the teaching material is less relevant to everyday life and the lack of student involvement in learning. Effective for improving students' critical reasoning.Keyword : Teaching Methods; Islamic Religious Education; Critical Reasoning

Abstract

Background: The relationship between self-care behaviors, physiological indicators, and quality of life (QoL) in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) remains underexplored in Indonesian populations. Understanding these factors is crucial for designing culturally appropriate interventions. Objective:  To examine the direct effects of four self-care domains on QoL and the potential mediating roles of HbA1c, blood pressure, and BMI among Indonesian patients with T2DM. Methods: A cross-sectional exploratory study was conducted August to September 2022 among 128 purposively selected patients from community health centers. Self-care (SCODI) and QoL (DQOL) were measured using validated questionnaires, and HbA1c, blood pressure, and BMI were obtained from clinical records. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was conducted using IBM AMOS version 24. Results: The SEM analysis yielded an overidentified model (df = 1578) with acceptable fit indices (CFI = 0.908, RMSEA = 0.082, CMIN/df = 1.851). Self-maintenance significantly predicted QoL, HbA1c, and blood pressure. Self-monitoring reduced blood pressure and BMI but was negatively associated with QoL. Self-management improved HbA1c but increased blood pressure and BMI, with a borderline positive effect on QoL. Self-confidence was positively associated with BMI but not with QoL, HbA1c, or blood pressure. Among physiological indicators, only HbA1c significantly predicted QoL. Conclusion: The direct effects of self-care behaviors on quality of life were more significant than the indirect effects mediated by clinical indicators, emphasizing the importance of strengthening daily self-care skills as a core strategy to enhance well-being in patients with T2DM. Given the exploratory cross-sectional design, findings should be interpreted as associative rather than causal. Future longitudinal research should validate these pathways and develop culturally sensitive intervention models that empower patients to sustain effective self-care behaviors over time.

Abstract

Most informal female workers in traditional markets are in the reproductive age range. One of the causes of low exclusive breastfeeding in women informal workers is the low implementation of policies related to exclusive breastfeeding in the workplace, especially in the informal sector. Objective to analyze the policies carried out by the local government related to exclusive breastfeeding policies for informal workers in traditional markets. Method: the study was qualitative with a phenomenological approach. Participants consisted of 12 employees of related agencies with purposive sampling. Data collection was done through in-depth interviews using voice records. Data analysis used content analysis by the collaizi method. The principle of traceability was applied to ensure rigor in the research. The results of this study obtained two themes related to the analysis of exclusive breastfeeding policies in Informal Workers of Traditional Markets in North Sumatra, namely 1) perception of lactation corner facilities in the markets; and 2) barriers to the certainty of lactation corners in the traditional market. It is essential to analyze the exclusive breastfeeding policy for informal workers in convention markets to create better policies by providing adequate lactation corner facilities for informal workers.

Abstract

Self-care management is crucial for preventing complications in individuals with diabetes mellitus, which is influenced by various factors, including disease perception and the duration of diabetes. This study aims to examine the relationship, direction, and strength of the association between disease perception, duration of illness, and self-care management in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The study employed a quantitative correlational design with a cross-sectional approach, involving 74 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire (B-IPQ) and the Summary of Diabetes Self-Care Activities (SDSCA-Revised). Data analysis was conducted using the Spearman Rank test. The findings showed that the average score for disease perception was 48.59, with an average illness duration of 5.00 years, and an average self-care score of 48.58. A significant positive correlation was found between disease perception and self-care management (p-value = 0.00), while no significant correlation was found between the duration of diabetes and self-care management (p-value = 0.132). These results suggest that enhancing patients' perception of their disease may improve self-care management. It is recommended that more intensive and targeted educational interventions be implemented to improve patients' positive perceptions and encourage more consistent self-care practices.

Abstract

Increasing awareness of breast cancer risk requires knowledge to identify risk factors, symptoms, attitudes, and behaviors for conducting breast screening. However, the facts showed that most female students from non-medical university students had not had adequate awareness of breast cancer prevention. This study aimed to investigate breast cancer awareness among female non-medical university students. This study used quantitative design with cross-sectional design. A sampling technique used a non-probability sampling technique which conducted to 370 non-medical students. A modified Breast Cancers Awareness Scale (BCAS-1) questionnaire was used to measure level awareness of students regarding risk factors of breast cancer. The results showed that most respondents were 19 years old (51.4%) and most respondents (69.2%) have a moderate level of awareness. The level of awareness has five domains, all of respondents which are mostly moderate: knowledge about risk factors (72.4%); signs of breast cancer (54.6%); attitudes toward breast cancer prevention (71.1%); barriers to screening (70.5%), and behaviours related to breast cancer awareness (66.5%). This study concluded that non-medical students had moderate knowledge, so it is recommended a health promotion and special training to perform breast self-examination regularly for university students, especially non-medical students.
