Abstract

This study aims to describe the representation of women’s existence in Fatima AlBanawi’s film Basma through the lens of Simone de Beauvoir’s existentialist feminism. The film portrays the struggles of Basma, a woman living under the patriarchal social structure of Saudi Arabia, which restricts her choices and personal freedom. Using a descriptive qualitative method and content analysis, this research identifies dialogues, scenes, and visual symbols that correspond to Beauvoir’s key concepts: The Other, immanence transcendence, and the existential project. The findings reveal that Basma is initially positioned as The Other through familial subordination, bodily surveillance, and social moral expectations. She then experiences immanence as her mobility and decisions are controlled by her father and society. However, through growing self-awareness and acts of resistance, such as demanding education, refusing domestic confinement, and leaving home, Basma enters a phase of transcendence. Ultimately, through writing and expressing her desire to build her own path, she initiates an existential project that affirms her freedom as a conscious subject. This study concludes that Basma not only critiques patriarchal norms but also illustrates a woman’s existential awakening aligned with Beauvoir’s theoretical framework. These findings enrich contemporary Arab film studies and contribute theoretically to understanding how women construct their existence within restrictive cultural spaces.

Abstract

This study analyzes the polemics of gender identity discrepancy among volleyball athletes from the perspective of Indonesian civil law, focusing primarily on the implementation of Article 1365 of the Indonesian Civil Code (KUHPerdata). Employing a normative legal research method with a statutory and case-based approach, this study examines the qualification of identity inconsistency as a Tort (Perbuatan Melawan Hukum) that infringes upon the subjective rights of the federation and the principle of fairness in competition. The results indicate that an athlete's civil liability is predicated on the cumulative fulfillment of the elements of tort: fault (opzet or culpa), material damages (damnum emergens and lucrum cessans) and immaterial damages (reputational degradation), and a causal relationship satisfying the conditio sine qua non parameter. The implications of applying this norm introduce an extra-contractual restorative obligation for the perpetrator to perform restitutio in integrum, including the restitution of economic benefits (unjust enrichment). To mitigate systemic risks, this research recommends accelerating regulatory reform through amendments to the National Sports Law to mandate compulsory biometric verification and interoperable integration of civil registry databases. Furthermore, the establishment of a federation guarantee fund and the formulation of specific sports-related loss valuation guidelines are proposed as legal protection instruments to maintain the integrity and dignity of the national sports ecosystem sustainably.

Abstract

Isu hak atas tanah di Indonesia masih menjadi masalah sosial-ekonomi akibat kesalahpahaman masyarakat mengenai prosedur pendaftaran tanah, hak dan kewajiban pemilik, serta mekanisme penyelesaian sengketa, yang seringkali berujung pada konflik tanah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat tentang hak atas tanah dan prosedur pertanahan melalui pendekatan pemberdayaan masyarakat berbasis pendidikan dan penguatan Manajemen Sumber Daya Manusia (SDM). Kegiatan Pengabdian Masyarakat (PKM) ini dilaksanakan di Polewali Mandar, melibatkan tokoh masyarakat, pejabat desa, pemilik tanah, dan kelompok masyarakat yang terlibat dalam pengelolaan tanah. Program ini mencakup pendidikan hukum tanah, pelatihan berbasis SDM partisipatif, dan pendampingan lapangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendidikan dan sosialisasi hukum tanah efektif dalam meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat tentang pentingnya pengelolaan tanah yang legal dan sah serta prosedur pendaftaran yang tepat. Selain itu, pelatihan berbasis SDM berhasil memperkuat keterampilan teknis dan sosial masyarakat dalam pengelolaan dan pengambilan keputusan tanah. Pendampingan lapangan yang mengintegrasikan hukum formal dengan kearifan lokal terbukti dapat membantu masyarakat dalam melaksanakan prosedur hukum tanah dan mengurangi potensi sengketa.

Abstract

Abstract. Fillmore is modern linguistic figure who pioneered the emergence of case grammar theory. He stated that case grammar is a new version of the theory modified from the old theory, namely generative transformation grammar. He developed case grammar after seeing a problem with the grammar of generative transformations. Thus, he declared that case grammar consists of two basic components: modality and proposition. In a line with this background, the purposes of this study are: (1) to reveal the modality in the film “Enola Holmes” based on the perspective of Charles J. Fillmore; (2) to reveal the preposition in the film “Enola Holmes” based on the perspective of Charles J. Fillmore. The type of this study is qualitative descriptive study. Data is in the form of conversation in the film. Thus, the data were taken through watching, listening, and note-taking techniques. The data was analyzed by using three steps. They are data reduction: researchers classified data based on elements of case grammar theory including modalities and propositions, data presentation: researchers displayed data in the form of the table in accordance of modalities and propositions, and interpreted data based on case grammar theory, and conclusion: researchers conducted data induction from interpretation results and ensured that the interpretation results fulfilled the elements of case grammar theory. The results show that the modality in the film “Enola Holmes” based on the perspective of Charles J. Fillmore consists of three modalities. They are tense modality, adverb modality, and negation modality. At the same time, the proposition consists of ten types. They are agentive case (A), experiential case (E), instrument case (I), objective case (O), source case (S), goal case (G), locative case (L), time case (T), companion case (CMP), and benefactive case (B). The results of this study strengthen Fillmore’s theory which states that as a part of sentence structures, modalities and propositions have types and forms and in the context of English film dialogue, the emergence of modalities and propositions is influenced by sentence structure used by the speaker in conveying his meaning.Keywords: Case Grammar, Film, Modality, Proposition

Abstract

This research examines the discourse of global solidarity in the news surrounding the hashtag #كل_العيون_على_رفح (#AllEyesOnRafah) on Aljazeera Arabic and CNN Arabic news media based on Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis. This research uses descriptive qualitative with data in the form of news texts from the official websites of the two media and related literature. The analysis is conducted through three dimensions: textual, discourse, and social practices. The results show that Aljazeera Arabic consistently builds a narrative of global solidarity with Palestine through emotional diction, intensive coverage, and active interactive on social media. This global solidarity is reinforced by the support of international actors and boycott campaigns as digital resistance to Israel. In contrast, CNN Arabic tends to present this phenomenon neutrally, focusing on the balance of information and the effects of the boycott critically. These findings show that global solidarity is not only represented in texts, but also has an impact on the public, social mobilisation, and pressure on global actors.

Abstract

Cerita pendek Syajarah Al-Hayah karya Kamil Kailani mengisahkan perjalanan seorang anak yatim piatu yang mencari obat untuk menyembuhkan ibunya, Melalui rintangan geologis yang dihadirkan, menggambarkan hubungan antara manusia dan alam. Hal ini mendorong paradigma ekokritik yang memandang alam bukan sebagai objek melainkan sebagai suatu keseluruhan dengan manusia sebagai bagiannya. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengungkap ideologi lingkungan yang terkandung dalam cerita pendek Syajarah Al-Hayah. Sumber data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah cerita pendek Syajarah Al-Hayah karya Kamil Kailani. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik baca dan catat. Teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik Miles dan Hubberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 2 ideologi lingkungan dalam cerita pendek Syajarah Al-Hayah, yaitu: (1) Ekologi dalam: a) Instrumen alamiah; b) Nilai-nilai intrinsik alam; c) Kesederhanaan; dan d) Konektivitas ekosistem. Dan (2) Anti-kapitalisme: a) Anti-eksploitasi; b) Mutualisme; c) Anti-konsumerisme; dan d) Pencarian immaterial. Diskusi ini menggarisbawahi pentingnya integrasi prinsip ekosentrisme, anti-eksploitasi, dan mutualisme dalam membangun kesadaran kolektif tentang keberlanjutan lingkungan.

Abstract

The inter-religious conflict in Poso, Indonesia, has had a substantial impact on the harmony of the region's multicultural society. This research aims to examine the potential of the Rahmatan Lil 'Alamin Verse Resolution in resolving the conflict by raising two main questions: (1) how Indonesian society responds to the inter-religious conflict in Poso, and (2) how the Rahmatan Lil 'Alamin Verse Resolution can be applied to resolve the inter-religious conflict in Poso. This research collected data through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies using a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical design. Research participants included religious leaders, local communities, local government, and relevant academics. Data were analysed thematically to identify emerging patterns and themes. The result of the research is that applying the Rahmatan Lil 'Alamin principle, which boils down to compassion, justice and tolerance, can be a strategic basis for building peace in Poso. The interpretation of various scholars shows that this mercy is inclusive and universal, covering all levels of society. Implementing this concept through multicultural education, interfaith dialogue, and traditional mechanisms such as Dalihan na Tolu has proven effective in easing tensions and preventing conflict escalation

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penyalahgunaan narkotika merupakan masalah besar dalam sistem peradilan pidana Indonesia, yang masih sangat bergantung pada pemenjaraan sebagai bentuk represi. Namun, UU Nomor 35 Tahun 2009 tentang Narkotika mengakui pentingnya rehabilitasi pecandu narkoba sebagai sarana pemulihan sosial dan medis. Selain itu, UU Nomor 20 Tahun 2025 yang mengadopsi KUHP memperkenalkan paradigma baru untuk melindungi hak-hak tersangka, membatasi metode paksaan, dan memperkuat gagasan proses hukum yang adil. Untuk memberikan model harmonisasi terbaik dalam menangani penyalahgunaan narkotika, penelitian ini akan mengkaji bagaimana UU Narkotika dan KUHP menangani penyalahunaan narkotika. Metodologi penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian hukum normatif dengan perspektif legislatif, konseptual, dan komparatif yang terbatas. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa masih terdapat konflik dalam prosedur penegakan hukum, terutama dalam hal penerapan pemenjaraan dan rehabilitasi pecandu narkotika. Untuk mewujudkan keadilan substantif, Undang-Undang Narkotika dan Kitab Undang-Undang Hukum Acara Pidana yang Baru harus diselaraskan dengan menekankan rehabilitasi sebagai alat utama, memperketat larangan terhadap taktik paksaan, dan memaksimalkan peran hakim pemeriksa pendahuluan.Kata Kunci: penyalahguna narkotika, harmonisasi hukum, rehabilitasi, KUHAP baru.
