Abstract

The North Sulawesi Regional Government implemented a policy breakthrough to enhance the competitiveness of tuna fisheries by facilitating the direct export of fresh tuna from Manado to Japan. However, export operations have not run optimally, as the cargo quota of 20 tons per trip per week has not been achieved which threatens the continuation of the operation. This study aims to describe the current state of direct export of tuna to Japan and to identify the causes of the failure to meet the cargo quota target for direct export of fresh tuna to Japan. The data used in this study were obtained through in-depth interviews with respondents selected using purposive and accidental sampling, as well as direct observation at the research location. The data were processed qualitatively and quantitatively, and then analyzed descriptively. The results of the study revealed a reduction in the export quota from 20 tons per trip per week to 3 tons per trip per week. In 2023, the export reached the average delivery target was only met in three months: March, April, and December, with 3.35 tons, 3.04 tons, and 7.34 tons, respectively. The cause of the issue is the shortage of high-quality tuna raw materials (grade A), which results from fishermen failing to implement proper fish handling methods during fishing operations. Furthermore, the dependence on tuna supplies from PPS Bitung. The solution is to enhance the ability of fishermen according to good fish-handling standards and to diversify the supply chain of fresh tuna by sourcing from both within and outside the North Sulawesi region. Abstract

The catch results show that wire traps are an effective and selective fishing gear for Lutjanus johnii, with a total catch of 244.1 kg. The bycatch, consisting of 10 species, amounted to 208.1 kg, also caught using wire traps in the waters of Rigaih. This study aimed to identify the composition of the bycatch, the ratio between the target catches and the bycatch, and the size range of the dominant bycatch species caught during L. johnii fishing operations in Rigaih waters. The research was conducted in the waters of Rigaih during NovemberDecember 2024 using wire traps (dimensions: length x width x height = 120 x 100 x 75 cm). The results showed that the primary catch using wire traps was dominated by L. johnii, with a total of 135 individuals (48.7%) weighing 244.1 kg. The bycatch amounted to 208.1 kg (46.1%). The bycatch species included Caranx sexfasciatus with 42 individuals (15.2%) weighing 18.4 kg (4.1%), Lutjanus gibbus with 24 individuals (8.7%) weighing 31.9 kg (8.7%), and Epinephelus malabaricus with 24 individuals (8.7%) weighing 114.5 kg (25.3%). The dominant bycatch size classes caught in the wire traps included L. campechanus with a total length range of 1820 cm, L. campechanus with a total length range of 3045 cm, and Epinephelus malabaricus with a total length range of 4075 cm. The proportion of the target catch to bycatch by weight was 53.9% to 46.1%. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the perceptions of Batu Beriga fishermen regarding the use of portable cooling machines powered by solar panels as an alternative to ice in handling fish catches. The technology is considered promising as it reduces dependence on ice blocks, lowers operational costs, and helps maintain fish freshness for longer periods. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed, using a structured questionnaire administered to 40 active fishermen with at least five years of fishing experience. Perceptions were assessed through 10 indicators covering functionality, economic benefits, ease of use, compatibility, technical complexity, and impact on catch quality. The results reveal that most fishermen expressed positive perceptions, with the highest agreement on the machine’s function as an ice substitute (95%) and its adaptability to vessel conditions (90%). However, concerns remain regarding the initial investment cost and fabrication complexity, as only 50% of respondents agreed with this aspect. Overall, the findings highlight a strong relative advantage and compatibility, while technical complexity persists as a major challenge. The study underscores the need for policy support in the form of technology subsidies, soft loans, and technical training programs to facilitate wider adoption. Such interventions are expected to accelerate the integration of renewable energy technologies into small-scale fisheries, reduce fishermen’s operational costs, and strengthen post-harvest handling systems. Furthermore, the adoption of solar-powered cooling technology aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and Goal 14 (marine ecosystem). Abstract

Tegal merupakan salah satu Kabupaten di Jawa Tengah yang memiliki kekayaan sumber daya perikanan cukup besar. Perairan Karang Jeruk merupakan salah satu perairan yang cukup strategis dalam pengembangan perikanan tangkap di Kabupaten Tegal, karena perairan ini berbatasan langsung dengan Laut Jawa sehingga memiliki potensi sumber daya ikan yang cukup melimpah. Penggunaan alat bantu rumpon portable diharapkan dapat meningkatkan hasi tangkapan nelayan sehingga memberikan solusi terhadap permasalahan penurunan hasil tangkapan yang dialami oleh nelayan purse seine perairan Karang Jeruk, Tegal. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui komposisi hasil tangkapan dan menghitung produktivitas tangkapan purse seine pada rumpon portable. Metode penelitian dilakukan dengan metode experimental fishing. Data hasil tangkapan dianalisis secara deskriptif untuk mengidentifikasi komposisi jenis hasil tangkapan dan jumlah masing-masing spesies ikan yang tertangkap. Produktivitas tangkapan didapatkan dengan cara membandingkan jumlah hasil tangkapan dengan lama waktu operasi penangkapan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ikan tangkapan utama purse seine terdiri dari ikan selar bentong, ikan tembang, ikan teri gelagah, ikan tongkol, dan cumi-cumi. Komposisi jenis ikan hasil tangkapan merupakan indikasi keberadaan ikan di daerah tersebut, dimana operasi penangkapan dengan purse seine dilakukan. Abstract

Ikan berkumpul di lokasi penangkapan bagan dengan berbagai tujuan. Beberapa peneliti menunjukan bahwa salah satu alasan ikan berkumpul di lokasi penangkapan bagan untuk melakukan pemangsaan. Salah satu alasan ikan berkumpul di sekitar bagan adalah pemangsaan. Waktu pemangsaan tiap spesies berbeda, sehingga keberadaan tiap spesies di lokasi penangkapan akan berbeda. Pada penangkapan ikan dengan bagan apung, nelayan akan melakukan kegiatan hauling pada saat ikan telah banyak berkumpul di lokasi penangkapan. Oleh karena itu penulis tertarik untuk mengungkap aktifitas hauling yang berbeda terhadap hasil tangkapan bagan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk menetukan bobot ikan yang tertangkap, jenis ikan yang tertangkap, sebaran ukuran ikan yang tertangkap dan keragaman ikan yang tertangkap pada bagan apung pada berbagai periode hauling. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan metode uji coba penangkapan di laut. Pengambilan data dilakukan selama 10 hari dengan tiap trip penangkapan sebagai satu ulangan. Untuk menganalisis adanya perbedaan bobot ikan yang tertangkap dan ukuran panjang spesies dominan pada berbagai periode hauling digunakan Uji Kruskal Wallis. Keragaman hasil tangkapan yang diperoleh pada berbagai waktu hauling dianalisis dengan index Shannon Wiener. Berdasarkan hasil uji Kruskal Wallis terhadap bobot ikan yang tertangkap pada berbagai waktu hauling diperoleh nilai probabilitas 0,041 (P < 0,05). Hal ini berarti bobot hasil tangkapan antara waktu hauling yang berbeda menunjukan perbedaan yang nyata. Hasil Uji Kruskall Wallis pada ukuran panjang ikan dominan menunjukan hasil tangkapan ikan layang dan cumi-cumi berbeda nyata taraf kepercayaan 95%. Keanekaragaman tertinggi terjadi pada waktu hauling tengah malam dengan nilai indeks keragaman 1,956. Kata kunci: bagan apung, distribusi ukuran, hauling, hasil tangkapan, keragaman, Kruskal Wallis

Abstract

Studi bertujuan untuk menyusun pola pengelolaan perikanan berkelanjutan dan mengembangkan lembaga kemitraannya yang menjamin keberlanjutan usaha perikanan di Desa Citemu, Cirebon. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif, metode korelasi, dan analisis konten. Pola pengelolaan perikanan berkelanjutan dapat diarahkan pada 1. pengkayaan stock sumberdaya ikan, 2. pengembangan teknologi dan prinsip penangkapan ikan ramah lingkungan, dan 3. pengembangan kemitraan untuk penguatan usaha perikanan. Skema kemitraan yang dapat dilakukan di kawasan Citemu adalah kemitraan investasi murni dan kemitraan investasi kerjasama. Komponen lembaga kemitraan yang berkorelasi positif dengan tujuan pengelolaan perikanan berkelanjutan adalah keaktifan di bidang perikanan, kecakapan pengelolaan lembaga, komitmen pengelolaan lembaga, serta tugas dan fungsi yang melekat pada lembaga tersebut. Tugas dan fungsi lembaga kemitraan adalah menggerakkan praktek perikanan berkelanjutan, menjalin kemitraan investasi, dan menjadi penghubung program perikanan berkelanjutan yang diinisiasi pihak eksternal. Abstract

Perikanan layang (Decapterus spp) adalah jenis hasil tangkapan dengan nilai finansial tinggi bagi masyarakat Flores Timur. Berdasarkan data produksi yang diperoleh pada periode 2017-2022, ikan layang tercatat sebagai hasil tangkapan terbanyak oleh nelayan pukat cincin jika dibandingkan dengan jenis ikan pelagis kecil yang lainnya. Maka dilakukan penelitian terhadap pemanfaatan ikan layang di perairan Larantuka dengan tujuan mengetahui nilai pemanfaatan sumberdaya dengan menggunakan kajian bioekonomi model Gordon-Schaefer. Teknik penelitian yang dipakai adalah analisis deskriptif dengan melibatkan informasi pengelolaan ikan layang tahun 2017-2022 dengan perolehan informasi seperti upaya dan hasil tangkapan ikan layang serta informasi penting seperti biaya penjualan dan biaya fungsional. Hasil pengujian bioekonomi model Gordon-Schaefer terhadap ikan layang menunjukkan nilai CMSY sebesar 705.826 kg/tahun dan upaya penangkapan sebanyak 1.278 trip/alat tangkap, nilai CMEY sebesar 686.875 kg/tahun terlebih lagi upaya tangkapannya bertambah 1.069 trip/alat tangkap dan COAE senilai 386.817 kg/tahun dengan jumlah upaya tangkap 2.137 trip/alat tangkap, sedangkan laju pemanfaatan ikan layang (Decapterus spp) di perairan Larantuka telah mencapai angka 103% dengan klasifikasi pemanfaatan berlebihan dan tingkat pengupayaan dengan angka 41%. Berdasarkan hasil eksplorasi, terdapat tiga jenis ikan layang di perairan Larantuka, yaitu ikan layang ekor biru (Decapterus macarellus), ikan layang deles (Decapterus macrosoma), dan ikan layang ekor merah (Decapterus akaadsi). Abstract

Preserving sustainability of squid populations, applying technologies that support reproduction process of squids are essential. One promising technology that can be developed is using attractors as spawning media. The development of attractor technology must be carried out continuously, focusing on both design and the materials used. This study aims to design squid attractor using ijuk fiber biocomposites, expected to produce stronger and more environmentally friendly materials. The research methodology applies a comparative design approach analyzed descriptively. The results indicate that the constructed squid attractor demonstrates good stability and durability in aquatic environments while utilizing eco-friendly materials. Applying ijuk fiber as a substitute for fiberglass (mat and roving) in the attractor design has been successfully implemented. Therefore, the use of ijuk fiber as an alternative material for squid attractor construction is recommended as an innovative solution to support the sustainability of marine ecosystems. Abstract

Kutaraja Ocean Fishing Port (OFP) is the center of capture fisheries activities that supplies the largest sea fish in Aceh Province. However, the burden of discarded residual components and waste that was formed tends to increase to disrupt port operations. The study aimed to 1. determine critical activities of waste formation, and 2. develop clean production techniques for handling residual components and waste from fisheries activities at Kutaraja OFP. The research method consisted of a descriptive method, a pollution prevention approach model, and a weighted portion analysis. The critical points for the formation of residual components and waste were fish unloading at pier 1 (old pier), fish auction places 1-3, supply kiosks, and food stalls. Clean production techniques for handling residual components and waste in fish handling were 1. Refine, using freezer cooling technology on ships, and 2. Reduce, reducing rinsing by providing hygienic containers or places for fish. For handling the remaining components and waste scattered in the port were 1. Refine, repair the channels and waste water reservoirs, and 2. Recycle, recycle organic waste into fertilizer that can be used for greening in the Kutaraja OFP area.
