Abstract

This paper reports the study of the critical thinking skills of 7th-grade students in junior high school on determining the coefficients of algebraic operation. Data were collected using worksheet and interviews. 34 students were involved during the study. The study reveals that there were 35% students who performed algebraic operations correctly. Students’ difficulty is mainly on determining the coefficients associated with the algebraic forms. In general, errors occur in the process of finding algebraic solutions, explaining the reasons for the stages of strategies taken and drawing conclusions. This is due to the fact that the main attention was given to the final result of the process of working on algebraic form problems, and less focus was paid on giving reasons for the process of working on problems that stimulate the students to think critically.

Abstract

This research aimed to develop a set module with a guided inquiry and Tahfidzul Quran (Quran memorization) to improve students' critical thinking. This research was a Research and Development (R&D) based on the ADDIE Model with a one-group of pre-test and post-test design conducted for Year-7 students at an Islamic Boarding School in Malang, East Java. The subjects in this study were 12 students. Three aspects were present in this module development: process, quality, and effectiveness. The results of this study showed that (1) The development of the set module with a guided inquiry approach and the Tahfidzul Quran process refers to the ADDIE development model with the following steps: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation; (2) The set module has a suitable quality of use as the learning module satisfying the aspects of content, presentation, language, graphics, and tahfidz; (3) The use of the set module with the guided inquiry approach and Tahfidzul Quran is effective in improving students' critical thinking. The students’ responses to the learning module were positive. In conclusion, a set module developed with the guided inquiry and Tahfidzul Quran to improve students' critical thinking has fulfilled the rules of process, quality, and effectiveness.

Abstract

Fish food is one of the factors that play an important role in the growth process of fish. Fish growth can run optimally if the amount of food, food quality and nutritional content are met properly. For this reason, it is necessary to improve fish farming skills through the manufacture of independent fish food for fish cultivators. This activity is carried out based on partner problems, namely the fish cultivator group in Parangargo Village, Wagir District, Malang Regency. This activity uses multiple methods, namely observation, interviews, lectures and discussions. This activity is equipped with indicators of achievement to facilitate evaluation. This activity was carried out in stages in two locations. The first location was carried out in the Edu Park Hall, Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, University of Muhammadiyah Malang and the second was carried out in food processing and fish farming, Probolinggo Regency. The result of this activity is an increase in the knowledge (cognitive) aspect of partner communities about self-fooding, which has increased. In addition, participants also experienced an increase in fish fooding management. In terms of skills in processing alternative foods, an increase of 50%, as measured by the active participation of participants in fish food processing practices.

Abstract

This study had a purpose to explore and describe the implementation of mathematics learning in the arithmetic operations teaching material of the pre-service elementary school teachers. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. The subjects of this study were the students from batch 2019 of the Teacher Professional Education (PPG) at Muhammadiyah Malang University. The data in this study were obtained through document review, observation and interviews. The study was conducted during three meetings of the learning activities in class. The instruments in this study were observation instruments and interview instruments. Data analysis technique was conducted by using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results showed that the implementation of mathematics learning was carried out with a learning design, pre-service elementary school teachers understood the language of mathematics incorrectly. Pre-service teacher could not describe the difference between the minuses and negatives. This misunderstanding had an impact on the misleading learning process for the students. Moreover, some factors dealt with the use of the teaching media for the learning process was also not in a sufficient amount.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a mathematics learning for social arithmetic material and see student responses to the mathematics learning web for social arithmetic material. The research method used is and Development (R & D) which starts from determining potential problems, data collection, product design, design validation, design revisions, product trials, and product revisions. The subjects in this study were VII grade students at MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Malang and 6 selected students with categories 2 high, 2 medium, and 2 low from the results of social arithmetic tests that had been done. The results showed that: 1) the learning web that had been developed gets a score of 3.55 which means the learning web is valid; 2) student responses to the learning web gained a score 3.65 (high).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peningkatan koneksi matematis siswa melalui pembelajaran berbasis masalah. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif dengan data kualitatif. Hal ini ditinjau dari keterlaksanaan pembelajaran berbasis masalah dan indicator peningkatan koneksi matematis. Penelitian dilalukan selama empat kali pertemuan dengan subyek penelitian kelas IPA dan kelas IPS. Data diperoleh dengan cara mencatat pada lembar catatan lapangan dan lembar observasi dengan bantuan observer. Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu adanya peningkatan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa dalam mempelajari materi eksponen dan matriks. Hal ini ditinjau dari analisis hasil pengerjaan soal siswa yang sudah dapat mengkaitkan materi sebelumnya. Akan tetapi, pada indicator koneksi matematis dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, siswa belum dapat menjelaskan adanya keterkaitan materi dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.

Abstract

Cadangan sumber energi bersumber fosil semakin menipis karena pemakaian terus meningkat. Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara di dunia yang mempunyai potensi energi berbahan dasar non fosil sangat banyak. Sumber daya alam yang subur dan terletak di katulistiwa merupakan potensi sumber energi yang sangat baik, terutama energi matahari. Namun hal ini masih belum termanfaatkan secara baik. Hal ini dikarenakan belum menjadi habit dalam konteks kehidupan masyarakat. Pengetahuan energi terbarukan (khusunya energi matahari) perlu dberikan ke siswa mulai dari SMP. Untuk melakukan ini perlu memasukkan konten energi terbarukan ke dalam kurikulum sekolahtersebut. Secara spesifik perlu diajarkan energi matahari dalam mata ajar Prakarya. Melalui pembelajaran ini bisa ditumbuhkan attitude siswa supaya kompetensi affektif, kognitif serta psikomotorik anak tentang energi terbarukan khusunya energi matahari tumbuh sejak dini. Kata kunci. Abstract

The ability to understand mathematics is a faculty crucial to be possessed by pre-service teachers who will enter into the education sphere. It is one of the professional competencies essential for teachers since satisfactory lessons’ delivery engenders more comprehensible instruction in teachers’ students. Qualitative research employs a descriptive approach relevant to the research purpose, describing mathematics pre-service teachers’ professional competency of understanding the concept toward probability observed based on mathematical abilities; advanced, intermediate, and basic mathematics ability. The subjects are three pre-service teachers having passed discrete mathematics course in a college in Madura. The criteria to select the subjects are the GPA (Grade-point Average) of the last semester and information from the lecturer.  It is because unlikely to administer the test due to online learning applied at the college. Findings indicated that the subject with advanced mathematics ability could meet individual concepts, relate concepts and connect concepts with the operations. The subject with intermediate mathematics ability could meet individual concepts, but could not relate to some concepts. However,  he could connect concepts with the operations. The subject with basic mathematics ability could not meet individual concepts, relate concepts, and connect concepts with the operations. In terms of the advancement indicator of understanding the concept, the subjects have not attained it since they have not apprehended concept definition well, particularly the probability concept, although the subject with advanced mathematics ability was procedurally prodigious.

Abstract

Banyaknya lahan kosong yang belum termanfaat dengan baik di Desa Parangargo, Kecamatan Wagir, Kabupaten Malang perlu dimaksimalkan. Budidaya ikan tawar yang masih dilakukan secara konvensional menyebabkan kurang berkembanganya budidaya ikan di daerah tersebut. Ketersediaan sumber daya ikan diharapkan mampu menjadi sector utama dalam perekonomian nasional di era yang akan dating. Melalui edukasi masyarakat tentang budidaya ikan dapat membantu edukasi ketahanan pangan di masa pandemic covid-19. Pelatihan budidaya ikan lele dengan sistem biona inilah masyarakat umum di desa tersebut dapat teredukasi dalam pengolahan ikan selama satu tahun. Metode dalam kegiatan ini survey, ceramah dan pendampingan. Tahapan kegiatannya yaitu pengenalan materi, penyampaikan konsep dasar dan sosialiasi. Kegiatan ini dilengkapi instrument observasi dan angket. Dari ketiga tahapan tersebut sarana prasarana, materi dan narasumber memberikan dukungan dengan menunjukkan skor sebesar 91.33%, 90.67% dan 90.50%. Hal ini menujukkan bahwa materi yang diberikan sesuai dengan topik dan bemakna positif terhadap masyarakat.

Abstract

For a graph G, with the vertex set V(G) and the edge set E(G) an edge-magic total labeling is a bijection f from V(G)UE(G) to the set of integers {1,2,...., |V(G)|+|E(G)} with the property that f(u) + f(v) +f(uv) = k for each uv elemen E(G) and for a fixed integer k. An edge-magic total labeling f is called super edge-magic total labeling if f(E(G)) = {|V(G)+1, |V(G)+2,....., |V(G)+E(G)|}. In this paper we construct the expanded super edge-magic total graphs from cycles C, generalized Petersen graphs and generalized prisms.
