Abstract

Kuantan Singingi Regency is one of the districts with the potential for oil palm plantations to be integrated with livestock. Innovation in using by-products from plantations and palm oil processing as animal feed and animal manure as fertilizer can be maximally applied using cheap by-product management technology. It can improve the quality and quantity of these by-products. Through the utilization of plantation by-products and palm oil processing as feed, it is predicted to be able to provide support for increasing the cattle population. This study aims to see the relationship between the factors that influence the level of adoption of innovation integration between cattle and oil palm in Kuantan Singing. The results of the study indicate that there is no significant relationship between the characteristics of innovation, breeder characteristics and the performance of the extension worker on the technological innovation of the livestock-palm integration system. With the integration of livestock and palm oil, cattle feed from processed palm oil is beneficial, and cow dung is used as fertilizer for the oil palm plant. With the palm oil program, it is hoped that it can help improve the welfare of oil palm planters and cattle breeders and improve the quality of products produced by palm oil livestock. Breeders still need regular assistance from agricultural extension workers and related agencies regarding applying components of livestock-palm integration technology.

Abstract

Peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) is an important food commodity in Indonesia. The low production of peanuts in Riau Province has not been able to meet the people's need for peanuts. According to the Riau Province Food Crops Service (2022) the need for peanuts in Riau Province in 2019 is 8,516 tons, in 2020 the need for peanuts is 7,390 tons, and in 2021 the need for peanuts is 6,474 tons. This study aims to determine the effect and interaction between tillage and the application of fish waste liquid organic fertilizer (POC) and the single factor of both the growth and production of peanut plants and to get the best combination. The research was conducted using a split-plot design. The first factor as the main plot is tillage consisting of three levels, namely without tillage, minimum tillage, and maximum tillage. The second factor as a subplot was POC concentration consisting of four levels, without POC fish waste, 25% POC fish waste (250 ml POC + 750 ml water), 50% POC fish waste (500 ml POC + 500 ml water), and 50 % POC waste fish 75% (POC 750 ml + water 250 ml). Parameters observed included plant height, number of primary branches, flowering age, harvest age, number of pods, number of filled pods, seed production per plant, and weight of 100 seeds. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance and continued with Duncan's multiple range test at the 5% level using the SAS application. The results showed that the interaction of tillage and POC fish waste affected increasing plant height, number of primary branches, number of pods, number of filled pods, seed production per plant, and weight of 100 seeds.

This research was carried out using a survey method on consumers who consume palm agro-industrial products, namely kolang-kaling.  Respondent collection was carried out using the Simple Random Sampling method. The survey was conducted purposively which aimed to find out how the marketing process of kolang-kaling products occurred in Rokan Hulu Regency. The results show the response of consumers to the appearance of the product, packaging that still does not use special packaging, and the absence of product labels. Meanwhile, in terms of price, kolang-kaling follows the prevailing price in the market, which is Rp. 10,000 – 15,000. The distribution of kolang-kaling is carried out to traditional markets only, and promotional activities are still carried out on a limited basis (direct sales).

Abstract

Tuna is an adequate source of animal protein tall. Animal-based food ingredients such as tuna have high protein content but low in fiber so it is necessary to add materials that contain fiber to meet the nutrients the body needs. Fiber that is contained in plant materials such as vegetables and nuts, one of which is found in green spinach. Nutritional content in green spinach which is quite high and the availability of many ingredients, provide opportunities to be utilized in processing diversification foods such as nuggets. Nuggets are processed products made from ground meat mixture and may or may not contain other ingredients or approved food additives. Nuggets in this study were made from cobs and green spinach. The study aims to get the best formulations of cobs nuggets and green spinach that meet the best sensory and chemical properties. The study's design is a Complete Randomized Design (RAL) with five treatments and three repeats. The data was statistically analyzed using variance analysis (ANOVA) and Duncan's test (DMRT) at a level of 5%. Treatment consists of TB1 (cob and spinach [90:10]), TB2 (cob and spinach [80:20]), TB3 (cob and spinach [70:30]), TB4  (cob and spinach [60:40]), and TB5 (cob and green spinach [50:50]). In this study, the combination of cobs and spinach affected water content, ash content, fibre and protein, and the sensory assessment of nuggets in terms of colour, aroma, taste, and texture. The best treatment is TB2 (cobs and green spinach [80:20]) with a moisture content of 56.82%, ash content of 1.44%, protein content of 13.74% and fibre content of 2.45%, with preferred TB2. Panellists rated the nuggets as greenish-grey, highly flavorful cobs, flavoured cobs and chewy textures
