Abstract

Abstract.Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an acute fever that can cause death. Tembalang Village is the highest urban village with Incidence Rate (IR) compared to other villages in Tembalang District in 2017. DHF events are influenced by various factors, one of the factors is the presence of containers around the community that are suitable for breeding Aedes spp. The type of this research is observational analytic with cross sectional study design. The sample used is a house that is at risk of dengue incidence with a total sample of 20 houses in August and 33 houses in December. The results of the descriptive analysis of entomological surveys were obtained in August HI = 35%; CI = 52.17% and BI = 60%; with Density Figure (DF) of 6.6 (high larval density) while in December HI = 33.33%; CI = 7.82% and BI = 42.42%; with DF of 4.3 (medium larval density). So it can be concluded that the Tembalang Village has medium-high larval density. Abstract

Mice are wild animals that are often associated with human life. The high rat population can have an impact on various areas of human life. Mice can also transmit several other diseases including murine typhus, leptospirosis, salmonellosis, richettsial pox, rabies, and trichinosis. This study was conducted to determine the type and density of mice, ectoparasites found in mice, sanitation and clean behavior patterns in orphanages " x "Semarang city. The type of this research is descriptive research with cross sectional method. Knowledge of rat species is very important to know the type and density of mice which is the initial information for controlling and preventing dangerous diseases. The sample in this study were all rats caught at the "X" Orphanage using 40 live traps for 5 consecutive days. Trap success at the Orphanage is 8% for the area in the Orphanage 3% and outside the Orphanage 5%, so that the trap success obtained is included in the high or solid category of rats. A total of 16 rats caught in the Orphanage with the type of rats caught were Bandicota, sp 6 tails (37.5%), Mus musculus 6 tails (37.5%) and Rattus norvegicus 4 tails (25%). The mice that were mostly caught in the Orphanage were in the Outer Orphanage habitat as many as 10 (62.5%). Gender Mice which were mostly caught were 10 female mice (62.5%). The type of ectoprasite found in mice caught was Cimex, sp. Environmental conditions and environmental sanitation are not clean. The behavior of clean living in orphanages is also still far from the standard of clean living and a healthy lifestyle. It is expected that sanitation and environmental conditions can be healthier and cleaner.

Abstract

Malaria remains a public health problem public health problem in Sulawesi, especially in Rejeki Village, Palolo Subdistrict, Sigi District. Rejeki village was a high endemic area of malaria from 2009 until 2012. In 2013, there was no positive case malaria, but the environmental condision there were very approriate to malaria transmission. Recently, in Indonesia there was lack of data about vectorial status and host identification as Anopheles bloodmeal. This research aimed to determine the vectorial capacity value of Anopheles spp. This Study was descriptive obsevational analysis with cross sectional design. The sample was female Anopheles spp. that caught allnight from 06.00 pm up to 06.00 am, and the mosquitoes that caught at the rest time in early morning. The collection was held for 6 times start from April until September. The mosquitoes that collected in Rejeki village were An. barbirostris, An. nigerrimus, An. tesselatus, An. vagus, An. indifinitus, and An. umbrosus. The result showed the species which potency as malaria vector that An. barbirostris (0,001-0,003) and An. nigerrimus (0,001-0,058). The average age of An. barbirostris was 8,58-13,78 days and An. nigerrimus was 4,24-13,78 days. ELISA bloodmeals test resulted mosquitoes which consumed human bloodmeals are An. barbirostris and An. nigerrimus, include in anthropophilic and tend to endophagic. Integrated vector control method is recommended to be applied in effort to maintained low malaria endemicity. Cattle barrier was a good solution for the control of malaria.

Abstract

Business owners should be free of cockroach density as big as <2. The first step that should be known in developing this control method is knowing the most type of bait that cockroach preferred. This research was conducted with 2 stages, that are palatability test of bait and measuring the density of the cockroach. Bait palatability test is a quasi experiment with the design of post test only control group design approach. And measuring the density of the cockroach is an observational research with cross sectional approach. Types of bait used are milk powder, blueberry jam and peanut butter. The object of this research is the number of cockroaches trapped in each bait that installed in 4 and 25 for cockroach density stalls Tegal food in Tembalang Village. The results of this research indicate that the bait with the highest trap found in the type of peanut butter, where as many as 32 of cockroaches trapped, 12 of cockroaches in milk powder bait and 14 cockroaches in blueberry jam. Based on statistical test results, there is a difference in the number of cockroaches trapped in the types of bait. The bait type of peanut butter more approached by cockroaches than any other types of bait. For cockroach density, there are 20 (80%) of 25 food stalls which have high cockroach density that is > 2 cockroaches, 5 (20%) food stalls which have low cockroach density and 4 food stalls there are no cockroach.

Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis patients cure rate is an indicator of the national programme to combat tuberculosis disease in an area. The target for national cure rate is 85%. Cure rate in Semarang from 2010 to 2013 experienced fluctuative trend and the latest in 2013 riched 61%. The purpose of this research was  to know several factors associated with cure status of pulmonary tuberculosis patients  after undergone treatment during six months. This research used observational analytic study with case control design study. This case control study used data which was taken from cases that taken from January 2013-March 2015. This cases consist of 36 patients who were cured and 36 others who were not cured. The sample was selected by using purposive sampling. Bivariat analysis result proved the existence of relationship between patients who are above 45 years old (OR = 5.1; 95% CI 1,379-19,106), regularity of treatment (OR = 7.7; 95% CI 2,452-24,496), and the presence of another disease (OR= 7.0; 95% CI 1,799-27,236) with cure status of pulmonary tuberculosis patients. Based on these research we suggest the availability of health workers who are responsible to monitor the uptake of the drugs and the availability of form for PMO to monitor the regularity of patients in taking medication.

Abstract

Ovitrap use is a method of Aedes sp. control which quite effective without using insecticides and it successfully reduces vector density in some countries. This research aims to determine effectiveness of various types of attractant used in ovitrap that are using hay infusion, yeast tape water, tiger shrimp immersion waterand ordinary water as the control for alternative DHF vector control in Bulusan Village. This research used quasi experimental approach with post test only control group design study. The samples were selected by using purposive sampling and consist of 15 houses in Bulusan Village. The result of Kruskal-Wallis analysis with p=0.058 showed no significant difference between the number of Aedes sp. eggs that trapped by various types of attractant. The total number of eggs were trapped on ovitrap are 436 eggs. The average number of eggs that most trapped is in ordinary water (control), consist of 2,73 eggs/ovitrap outside the house and 13,13 eggs/ovitrap inside the house; 5,06 eggs/ovitrap trapped in hay infusion outside the house and 3,33 eggs/ovitrap inside the house; 4 eggs/ovitrap trapped in yeast tape water outside the house and 0.6 eggs/ovitrap inside the house. The less number of eggs were in tiger shrimp immersion water  that consist of 0,13 eggs/ovitrap outside the house and no egg/ovitrap inside the house. The percentage of Ae.aegypti is 78.22%, higher than Ae. albopictus that only 21.78%. Public Health authorities are expected to disseminate the use of ovitrap as one of alternatives control of DHF vector.
