Abstract

This research aims to examine and analyze the influence of brand image on the purchasing decisions of students at the Faculty of Economics, Nias University, in the context of online shopping. The background of this study stems from the rapid growth of e-commerce in Indonesia, which has significantly changed consumer shopping behavior, particularly among students who are highly adaptive to digital technology. In online shopping situations, where consumers cannot physically assess the product, brand image becomes one of the main factors influencing consumer trust, perceived quality, and confidence in making purchasing decisions. The type of research employed is quantitative research with a survey approach. The study population consisted of 1,959 active students of the Faculty of Economics, Nias University, with a sample of 95 respondents determined using the Slovin formula. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire covering brand image indicators (strength, favorability, and uniqueness of brand association) as well as purchasing decision indicators (problem recognition, information search, evaluation of alternatives, purchase decision, and post-purchase behavior). The data were analyzed using validity and reliability tests, simple linear regression analysis, t-test, and determination test with the aid of SPSS software. The results of the study indicate that brand image has a positive and significant effect on students' purchasing decisions in online shopping. This finding implies that the stronger the brand image, the higher the tendency of students to make online purchases. Therefore, companies or online businesses need to develop and strengthen their brand image through consistent marketing communication strategies, clear product information, and credible brand reputation to increase consumer loyalty and purchase intention.

Abstract

Abstract

This research analyzes the implementation of transformational leadership style and its role in enhancing employee work engagement at the Faculty of Economics, Universitas Nias. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with five key informants, including the Dean, Vice Deans, Head of Study Program, and staff, complemented by observation and documentation from June to November 2025. Findings reveal that transformational leadership has been implemented through four dimensions: idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration. However, implementation faces multidimensional constraints, including varied employee readiness for change, limited resources, workload imbalance, coordination challenges, suboptimal reward systems, insufficient monitoring mechanisms, and a persistent conventional work culture. Despite these obstacles, employee engagement remains relatively high, characterized by strong vigor, dedication, and absorption. The research proposes twelve strategic initiatives to optimize transformational leadership effectiveness: strengthening internal communication systems, developing systematic capacity building programs, establishing transparent reward mechanisms, enhancing employee empowerment through delegation, creating conducive work environments, building structured monitoring systems, strengthening cross-unit collaboration, redistributing workload equitably, implementing systematic change management, establishing mentoring programs, fostering innovation culture, and developing external partnerships. The regional independence ratio of only 2.59% indicates minimal fiscal capacity, underscoring the need for comprehensive long-term strategies to enable meaningful organizational transformation.

Abstract

Transparent and accountable village financial management is one of the important pillars in realizing good governance. This study aims to analyze the utilization of the Village Financial System (SISKEUDES) application in village financial management, the implementation of good governance principles, and SISKEUDES’s contribution in realizing good governance in Balohli Botomuzoi Village, Botomuzoi District, Nias Regency. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data collection techniques were conducted through in-depth interviews with five key informants consisting of the Village Head, Village Secretary, Village Treasurer, Acting Head of Government Section, and Community Leader, supported by observation and documentation study. The research results show that the utilization of SISKEUDES in Balohli Botomuzoi Village has been implemented in accordance with the provisions of Ministry of Home Affairs Regulation Number 20 of 2018, covering all stages of village financial management from planning to accountability. However, the implementation of good governance principles has not been optimal, particularly in aspects of substantive transparency, horizontal accountability to the community, and community participation in oversight. SISKEUDES’s contribution to realizing good governance is still limited to fulfilling administrative obligations and has not been maximally integrated with good governance values. The main inhibiting factors include limited human resource capacity, minimal information technology infrastructure, and low community understanding of village financial oversight mechanisms. In conclusion, although SISKEUDES has improved village financial administration, strengthening apparatus capacity, providing technological infrastructure, and increasing community literacy are needed so that good governance can be optimally and sustainably realized.

Abstract

The utilization of local resources and educational empowerment are essential elements for achieving sustainable rural economic development, yet many villages still face limited capacity to transform local potential into productive economic activities. This study aimed to examine how community service activities integrating local resource utilization and educational awareness can enhance community empowerment and support village economic development. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed through a participatory community service program conducted in Mondrali Village, Idanogawo District, Nias Regency. Participants consisted of village officials, youth representatives, and community members selected purposively. Data were collected through interactive lectures, focus group discussions, role-play simulations, observations, and documentation, and were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns of awareness, participation, and institutional readiness. The results showed three major findings. First, participants demonstrated increased understanding of value-added economic opportunities from natural resources, particularly through agro-processing initiatives. Second, awareness of human and cultural resources improved, reflected in proposals for cultural-based creative activities to support local income generation. Third, institutional readiness strengthened through discussions on establishing a village-owned enterprise to manage community-based businesses. Education emerged as a cross-cutting factor that enhanced motivation, leadership awareness, and collective action toward village development. This study contributes to the literature by demonstrating that participatory education integrated with local resource optimization serves as an effective initial strategy for sustainable rural empowerment. Practically, the findings provide a community service model that can support inclusive and context-based village economic development policies.
