Abstract

This study aims to explore the processes of moral reasoning (moral judgment) among students in the context of religious character education at MTsN 2 Bandar Lampung and to identify the factors that influence it. Using a qualitative case study design, the research involved 28 eighth-grade students, teachers, and the school principal, selected purposively. Data were collected through participatory observation of religious activities, semi-structured interviews, moral vignettes, and document analysis. Data analysis employed the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. In contrast, data validity was ensured through source triangulation and member checking. The findings show that students’ moral judgment develops through the integration of religious experiences, spiritual habituation, and teacher role modelling. In social studies learning, activities such as socio-religious discussions, reflections on justice, and linking social phenomena to Islamic moral principles are essential for fostering students’ ethical decision-making abilities. Religious practices serve as reflective spaces for students to evaluate their actions in light of ethical and religious considerations. Honesty and justice emerge as the primary foundations of their moral reasoning, indicating a shift from the conventional to the post-conventional stage. Thus, students’ moral judgment is shaped not only by religious rituals but also by contextual and reflective social studies instruction. The integration of religious and social values strengthens the role of the madrasah as a space for cultivating transcendental morality and social awareness, demonstrating the relevance of Rest’s Four Component Model. Abstract

This research explores the extent to which students’ self-efficacy shape their learning motivation within Islamic Religious Education (IRE) and character education at SMPN 5 Bandar Lampung. The research was driven by initial observations showing variations in students’ self-efficacy that may affect their engagement in learning. Using a quantitative correlational ex-post facto approach, information was collected from 75 seventh grade students, who were selected from a total of 414 participants using a simple random sampling technique. The instruments consisted of Likert-scale questionnaires measuring self-efficacy (12 items) and learning motivation (24 items), both validated and confirmed reliable with Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.872 and 0.894. The results clearly demonstrate that self-efficacy significantly and positively affects students’ motivation to learn. The coefficient of determination (R²) indicates that 24.4% of the variance in motivation is explained by self-efficacy, while 75.6% is influenced by other unexamined factors. Students with strong self-efficacy display greater confidence, persistence, and intrinsic drive, whereas those with low self-efficacy are more dependent and less engaged in classroom activities. The study’s originality stems from its emphasis on integrating Islamic religious education (IRE) with character education specifically within the context of junior high schools, a domain often overlooked compared to studies on science and mathematics. This study’s results offer empirical support showing that self-efficacy is a key factor influencing both students’ academic achievements and their engagement in religious and moral education. The findings emphasize the need to foster self-efficacy through supportive teaching strategies, positive feedback, and an encouraging classroom environment. These implications highlight how enhancing self-belief can foster stronger motivation and enrich educational practice.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low academic achievement of students in the subjects of Islamic Religious Education and Character Education at SMP Negeri 2 Jati Agung. This issue is believed to be influenced by the use of learning models that lack variety and the suboptimal use of engaging learning media. Therefore, it is necessary to implement a learning model that can enhance student engagement and understanding, one of which is through the Kahoot-based Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Kahoot-based TPS learning model on student learning outcomes, specifically on the cognitive indicators C4 (analyzing) and C5 (evaluating). The research method used is a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design of the post-test only control group type. The research subjects consisted of two eighth-grade classes, namely Class VIII-D as the control class and Class VIII-F as the experimental class, with a total of 60 students. Data collection was conducted through achievement tests, which were analyzed using a pooled variance t-test after conducting preliminary tests for normality and homogeneity. The results of the study indicate that there is a significant difference between the learning outcomes of students using the Kahoot-based Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model and those using conventional learning. This is evidenced by a p-value of 0.036 < 0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that the Kahoot-based Think Pair Share learning model has a significant effect on student learning outcomes in the subjects of Islamic Religious Education and Character Education.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of learning creativity among students in the subjects of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) and Character Education, particularly in terms of flexibility and originality of thinking. This situation is evident in low student participation, a lack of self-confidence in,expressing ideas, and a teaching approach that remains largely conventional. Therefore,a learning model is needed that can actively enhance student engagement and creativity. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review (SQ3R) learning model based on Padlet in enhancing students’ learning creativity. The method used is a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design employing a Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The research sample consisted of two classes: an experimental class using the SQ3R model and a control class using conventional methods. Data collection utilized a learning creativity questionnaire that had been validated for validity and reliability, and the results were analyzed using a t-test. The results of the study indicate that there is a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group, with a p-value of 0.029 < 0.05. This suggests that the implementation of the SQ3R model is effective in enhancing students’ learning creativity, particularly in terms of flexible thinking. This model encourages students to actively ask questions, read purposefully, and creatively restate their understanding. In conclusion, the Padlet-based SQ3R learning model has proven effective in enhancing students’ learning creativity in Islamic Education and Character Education. This model can serve as an innovative alternative learning strategy to create a more active, interactive, and meaningful learning environment.
