Abstract

The rapid expansion of mobile banking in emerging economies has increased exposure to client-side security risks, while MASVS-based security maturity benchmarking of conventional banking applications remains underrepresented in the literature. This study conducts a standard-based comparative security maturity assessment of two major Indonesian Android banking applications, BRImo and myBCA. APK files obtained from the Google Play Store were analysed using Static Application Security Testing with the Mobile Security Framework (MobSF) and evaluated against OWASP MASVS Level 2 and MASVS-R. MobSF scores were interpreted as relative indicators of security maturity based on severity-weighted findings across multiple domains. The results reveal a clear divergence in maturity levels. Although both applications demonstrate strong network-layer protection, BRImo exhibits structural weaknesses in storage, cryptography, platform interaction, and resilience domains, indicating fragmented defence-in-depth implementation. In contrast, myBCA shows more consistent cross-domain control integration. This study contributes an MASVS-based security maturity benchmarking approach and provides conceptual evidence that formal regulatory compliance may coexist with inconsistent client-side technical implementation. The findings offer analytically transferable insights for developers, security auditors, and regulators in rapidly digitalising financial ecosystems.

Abstract

This study aims to implement a web-based student and teacher attendance system with QR Code integration at SMK Muhammadiyah Campaka, Purwakarta. Currently, the school still uses a manual attendance system that is proven to be inefficient, time-consuming, prone to human error, and difficult to monitor in real-time. The proposed system is expected to overcome these problems by increasing the efficiency of managing and monitoring student attendance data. The Rapid Application Development (RAD) approach is used in developing this system, which allows for a faster and more flexible development process. QR Code was chosen as the attendance method because it can speed up attendance recording and reduce data input errors. The results showed that the new system succeeded in reducing attendance recording time by 50%, from an average of 10 minutes to only 5 minutes per class. In addition, the recording error rate was reduced by more than 70%, from the previous 36% to only 9% after the system was implemented. This system also allows attendance reports that can be accessed in real-time, supporting increased efficiency in the school environment. With the implementation of this system, it is hoped that the attendance process will be faster, more accurate, and easier to monitor, which in turn can improve the quality of education management at SMK Muhammadiyah Campaka.

Abstract

This qualitative case study investigates vocational teachers' perceptions of artificial intelligence and computational thinking integration in Indonesian secondary education. Seven vocational high school teachers from West Java Province participated through semi-structured interviews, non-participant observations, and document analysis following artificial intelligence training. The study employed an interactive analysis model to examine teachers' attitudes, concerns, and implementation strategies regarding artificial intelligence in educational contexts. Findings reveal positive teacher perceptions of artificial intelligence as a learning support tool, with applications ranging from creative media production to technical programming assistance. However, significant ethical and pedagogical concerns emerged, including academic integrity challenges, potential student dependency, inadequate prompt engineering skills, and risks of learning dehumanization. Teachers developed sophisticated guidance strategies, positioning artificial intelligence as a verification tool while maintaining human agency in learning processes. Supporting factors included personal initiative and professional learning communities, while barriers encompassed limited infrastructure, absence of formal guidelines, and varied digital competencies. The research contributes to understanding artificial intelligence adoption challenges in Indonesian vocational education and provides insights for implementing artificial intelligence skills curriculum policy. Results of the research are: (1) educators acknowledge significant advantages of AI integration, especially in improving technical learning experiences and promoting innovative educational endeavors, the integration of AI and computational thinking in the learning process must also prioritize the appropriate pattern aspects and requires clear guidance from stakeholders so that it can be implemented in the learning process; (2)  ethical and pedagogical issues arise as significant obstacles, encompassing abuses of academic integrity, threats of student dependency, insufficient prompt engineering skills, and the potential dehumanization of learning experiences; (3) educators demonstrate significant adaptability by formulating advanced guiding systems that utilize AI as a verification and support mechanism while maintaining human agency in educational decision-making.

Abstract

Student dropout in online higher education remains critically high, far exceeding face-to-face rates, yet declining behavioral activity in Learning Management Systems (LMS) offers key signals for early intervention. To identify robust predictors and model suitability for Early Warning Systems (EWS), this study presents a comparative analysis of machine learning for dropout prediction using clickstream data from the Open University Learning Analytics Dataset (OULAD), covering 32,593 students across seven undergraduate modules. Three supervised algorithms with Logistic Regression, Random Forest, and Support Vector Machine (SVM), were trained on 13 engineered features combining behavioral and demographic attributes from the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), with Recall prioritized to minimize missed at-risk students. Results demonstrate that all models achieved strong discriminatory performance with AUC-ROC > 0.93; specifically, SVM provided the highest EWS fit with recall of 0.903, missing only 196 of 2,031 withdrawals (9.7%), while Random Forest attained the best overall accuracy (0.866) and AUC-ROC (0.940). Feature importance analysis further revealed that VLE behavior accounted for 85.0% of predictive power, with Activity Span emerging as the dominant predictor at 41.3%. Cross-module validation confirmed temporal engagement consistency as a robust, generalizable dropout signal. Therefore, these findings provide practical guidance for implementing data-driven EWS in online learning by prioritizing behavioral span metrics over static demographics

Abstract

Web-based Learning Management System (LMS) platforms face persistent limitations in Indonesia, particularly complete dependence on internet connectivity, which disrupts learning continuity for students in areas with inadequate digital infrastructure. This study aimed to develop and test the feasibility of a desktop-based LMS application, named EduDesk LMS, using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model. The application was built using the Tauri framework with Rust as the backend and React for the frontend, integrated with Supabase as the cloud database and authentication service. A key feature was an offline-online dual-mode mechanism, which allowed data to be stored locally when connectivity was unavailable and synchronized to the cloud automatically upon reconnection. The research subjects consisted of two educational technology experts for validation and 50 students selected through purposive sampling for the user trial. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire covering five assessment aspects: Display and Design, Ease of Use, Offline Feature, Usefulness, and User Satisfaction. Results showed that EduDesk LMS achieved a grand mean of 4.00, placing it in the Feasible category (3.41–4.20) across all five dimensions. The Display and Design aspect obtained the highest mean (4.09), followed by Usefulness (4.04), Ease of Use (4.03), User Satisfaction (3.94), and the Offline Feature (3.90). All aspects exceeded the minimum feasibility threshold of 3.41. These findings demonstrated that the ADDIE model effectively guided the development of a systematic, user-centered desktop LMS, and that EduDesk LMS constitutes a feasible platform for supporting flexible learning in higher education environments with varying connectivity conditions.

Abstract

Basic futsal technique instruction in Indonesian junior high schools is constrained by limited weekly contact time and the absence of technology-based supplementary media, leaving students with insufficient opportunity to consolidate passing, dribbling, and shooting competencies outside scheduled lessons. This study aimed to develop and evaluate Sport Smart Futsal, an Android-based educational game designed as a supplementary learning medium for Grade VII PJOK students, and to determine student responses to the game. Development followed the four-stage 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), producing a Unity-built game with three technique-specific levels integrating Video, Info, and Quiz functions with embedded gamification elements. Validation was conducted by a content expert and a media expert, followed by small-scale (n = 8) and large-scale (n = 40) student response trials. Content expert validation yielded 90.0% and media expert validation yielded 82.5%, producing an overall average of 86.2% (Very Feasible). Small-scale trial response averaged 91.1% and large-scale trial response averaged 90.1%, with all items rated Very Feasible. Sport Smart Futsal is confirmed as a valid and feasible supplementary learning medium for basic futsal technique instruction, with future research recommended to employ experimental designs measuring direct learning gains.

Abstract

Purpose – Grade-oriented learning in Indonesian secondary education hinders deep conceptual understanding, as reflected in declining PISA scores. This study examines the potential of AI-based formative assessment (ChatGPT-Padlet) to support improvement in students’ conceptual understanding and a shift in their orientation from a focus on grades to a focus on process. Design/methodology/approach – This single-cycle classroom intervention, drawing on classroom-action-research procedures, involved 33 tenth-grade students in Project-Based Learning supported by a layered feedback system (AI, peers, and teachers). Data were collected through pre- and post-tests, Likert-scale attitude surveys, peer assessments, and qualitative reflections. Findings – The intervention produced a statistically significant improvement in conceptual understanding scores (Δ = 9.09 points; Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test, Z = -1.93, p = 0.045, r = 0.34; paired t-test reported as a robustness check, p = 0.026) and a non-significant descriptive decrease in competitive orientation (Δ = -0.3; Wilcoxon p = 0.32), while process focus remained stable in mean (M = 3.5, Wilcoxon p = 0.77) with increased variability. Qualitative analysis showed that 67% of students could articulate internet concepts, and 58% showed indications of transfer of knowledge to practical decision-making in their self-reported reflections. Research implications/limitations –  The layered feedback ecosystem may offer a scalable approach to formative assessment in high teacher-student-ratio contexts, though this potential was not directly measured, and the single-cycle, short-duration design limits causal and longitudinal conclusions; further research requires longitudinal testing and more comprehensive deep learning metrics. Originality/value – This study offers an early empirical operationalization of process-oriented educational philosophy through an AI-peer-teacher triadic feedback model within the Indonesian Independent Curriculum context.

Abstract

In the current digital era, quantitative data analysis remains a critical yet demanding stage of the research process, particularly for researchers without a strong statistical background. Complex analysis procedures, inconsistent method selection, and manual data handling increase the risk of human error and can threaten the validity of research findings. This study addresses this problem by designing and developing the CQR (Calculation of Quantitative Research) Application, a web-based predictive quantitative-analytics system intended to simplify statistical data processing for researchers regardless of their statistical expertise. The system was developed using the Research and Development (RD) method combined with the Waterfall model, comprising problem identification, data collection, system design, implementation, and testing, and was built using the Laravel 11 framework with a MySQL database. System design was guided by an analysis of functional and non-functional requirements and modelled using Use Case and Activity Diagrams. The developed system was evaluated through black-box testing across four core modules-user authentication and three data-upload calculator modules for the System Usability Scale (SUS). All eleven scenarios (100%) produced the expected output. A preliminary usability evaluation of the CQR Application itself, using the System Usability Scale with 32 student respondents, yielded a mean score of 76.09 (SD = 9.67), corresponding to an “Acceptable” rating and a curved grade of B. These findings indicate that the CQR Application is functionally reliable and perceived as usable, while quantitative benchmarking of analytical accuracy and processing time against established statistical software, together with a complementary User Experience Questionnaire evaluation, are identified as the immediate next steps for strengthening the system's scientific and practical contribution. The CQR Application is expected to help researchers, particularly those without extensive statistical training, conduct quantitative analysis that is more consistent, efficient, and credible.

Abstract

This study evaluated and compared the perceived usability of three widely used online coding learning platforms—W3Schools, Coursera, and Udemy—among university students in Purwakarta, Indonesia. A quantitative, non-randomized, cross-sectional between-subjects design was employed using the System Usability Scale (SUS), with each participant evaluating one platform that they had previously used. The final sample comprised 120 students, with 40 participants in each platform group. Descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, normality testing, the Kruskal–Wallis test, epsilon-squared effect size, and supplementary Dunn pairwise comparisons with Bonferroni adjustment were applied. W3Schools obtained the highest mean SUS score (85.4) and was classified as “Best Imaginable,” whereas Udemy (82.4) and Coursera (80.9) were both classified as “Excellent.” Despite these descriptive differences, the Kruskal–Wallis test showed no statistically significant overall difference in perceived usability among the three platform-user groups (H = 2.472, p = .291). The corresponding epsilon-squared effect size was small (ε² = .021), and none of the Bonferroni-adjusted pairwise comparisons reached statistical significance. These findings indicate that all three platforms were perceived as highly usable by their respective user groups, while the observed numerical differences did not establish statistically significant platform superiority. The study contributes standardized comparative evidence on coding-platform usability within an Indonesian university context. Future research should incorporate larger and more diverse samples, explicitly measure prior platform experience, and combine subjective usability ratings with objective task-based measures and qualitative evidence.
