Abstract

Digital transformation encourages public service agencies to optimize social media and service innovation to improve satisfaction by strengthening trust. This study analyzes the influence of social media and service innovation on public satisfaction with trust as an intervening variable at the Population and Civil Registration Office of Medan City. The method used is quantitative with a sample of 98 respondents (service users in the last 12 months). Primary data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using PLS-SEM (SmartPLS). The instruments met the requirements for convergent validity (outer loadings ≥ 0.60; AVE ≥ 0.552) and reliability (Cronbach's Alpha ≥ 0.723; CR ≥ 0.829). The results show that social media has a positive and significant effect on satisfaction (β=0.254; p=0.005) and trust (β=0.155; p=0.049). Service innovation has a positive but insignificant effect on satisfaction (β=0.120; p=0.175), but a positive and significant effect on trust (β=0.490; p=0.000). Trust has a positive and significant effect on satisfaction (β=0.324; p=0.000). The mediation test shows that social media → trust → satisfaction is not significant (p=0.113), while service innovation → trust → satisfaction is significant (p=0.005). The explanatory power of the model is strong (R² trust=0.705; R² satisfaction=0.889). Practical implications: strengthening social media content and responses needs to be accompanied by innovations that increase trust—such as process transparency, real-time status tracking, and SLA standards—in order to have a direct impact on satisfaction.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of competencies, education and training, work experience, and individual performance on sustainable development with green skills as a mediating variable. A quantitative approach is used with the SEM-PLS method to process data from relevant respondents. The results of the analysis show that all independent variables have a significant effect on green skills and sustainable development directly. In addition, green skills have been shown to mediate the relationship between these variables to sustainable development. These findings are in line with the theory of human capital and the resource-based view, which emphasizes the importance of human resource development in achieving sustainable long-term goals. This research reinforces previous studies that highlight the role of training, competence, and work experience in improving green skills and supporting sustainable development. This study has limitations in the scope of the area and type of industry surveyed, and has not taken into account external environmental factors such as government policies. Further research is suggested to expand the sample and add external variables as controls. Organization should invest in employee competencies, education, and training to enhance green skills, which in turn support sustainable development.

Abstract

Abstract

This study seeks to examine the function of mindfulness in moderating the connection between happiness perception and perceived fairness regarding revisit intention among visitors at Tangkahan, Langkat. This research employs a quantitative methodology via a survey technique; the study population comprises tourists who have visited Tangkahan, Langkat, within the past year. The research sample comprised 300 respondents recruited through purposive selection, specifically targeting travelers with expertise in staying or engaging in tourism activities at the destination. The study's findings demonstrate that the perception of happiness significantly influences the intention to revisit and mindfulness. Moreover, perceived justice exerts a substantial direct influence on revisit intention, however not on mindfulness. Mindfulness does not directly influence revisit intention; instead, it serves as a substantial mediating variable in the association between happiness perception and revisit intention, as well as between perceived justice and revisit intention. These findings affirm that while the experience of happiness and perceived justice directly influence tourists' inclination to return, mindfulness has a significant mediating effect. The novelty of this study lies in its exploration of mindfulness as a psychological mechanism that strengthens the link between tourists' happiness, perceived fairness, and revisit intention—an aspect that has been underexplored in tourism research. By integrating mindfulness into the tourism experience, this study provides fresh insights into how psychological well-being can shape sustainable tourism behavior. From a practical perspective, the findings suggest that tourism managers and policymakers should implement mindfulness-oriented programs, such as guided reflection sessions, meditation spots, or immersive nature experiences, to enhance visitor engagement and loyalty. These initiatives can create a more profound and memorable tourism experience, fostering long-term commitments from travelers. Further research could explore the long-term impact of mindfulness on sustainable tourism behavior and the effectiveness of mindfulness-driven interventions in different tourism contexts.

Abstract

Employee performance is an important factor in determining the quality of public services in government agencies, including the West Medan Sub-District Office. Variations in employee performance indicate the need for an in-depth study of the factors that influence it. This study aims to analyze the influence of human resource quality and organizational culture on employee performance with work motivation as an intervening variable. The study uses a quantitative approach with a census method of all 60 civil servants (PNS) at the West Medan Sub-District Office as respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Square–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with the help of SmartPLS. The results show that HR quality and organizational culture have a positive and significant effect on employee performance and work motivation. Work motivation was also found to have a positive and significant effect on employee performance. In addition, work motivation acted as an intervening variable that strengthened the effect of HR quality and organizational culture on employee performance. The coefficient of determination showed that the variables of HR quality and organizational culture were able to explain 44.3% of work motivation, while HR quality, organizational culture, and work motivation together explained 52.1% of employee performance. These findings confirm that improving employee performance at the West Medan Sub-District Office does not only depend on structural aspects such as HR quality and organizational culture, but is also greatly influenced by employee work motivation. Therefore, strengthening competencies, establishing a conducive organizational culture, and strategies to increase work motivation need to be prioritized in efforts to improve the quality of public services.
