Abstract

Bullying remains one of the most pressing and persistent issues in educational settings, often leading to serious psychological and social consequences for students, including anxiety, depression, and social withdrawal. Given its damaging and widespread impact, effective intervention strategies are urgently needed. This study explores the implementation of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model integrated with a respect-based approach as a response to the bullying crisis in schools. Employing a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group, data were collected through questionnaires administered to 70 students. Analysis using a t-test revealed a significant reduction in bullying behavior in the experimental group, with a Sig. (2-tailed) value of less than 0.001. The findings suggest that embedding respect-oriented values into the CTL framework fosters a more inclusive and empathetic classroom climate, which in turn helps prevent bullying. The study concludes that a respect-based CTL model is a promising educational strategy for addressing and mitigating bullying behavior among students.

Abstract

This research examines the survival strategies of poor tenant farmers in Ngombol Village, Purworejo, Central Java, and investigates the relationship between farmers' personal characteristics and environmental factors in shaping these strategies. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the study involved five poor tenant farmers selected through purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The results show that poor tenant farmers implement three survival strategies: active strategies (increasing income sources through odd jobs or small businesses), passive strategies (utilizing harvest yields for personal consumption and reducing expenditures), and network strategies (utilizing social capital to obtain loans or assistance). The research reveals that tenant farmers with vocational high school education and skills outside the agricultural sector have better survival strategies. Their interactions with natural, economic, social, and cultural environments also play important roles in shaping survival strategies. Ownership of assets such as houses, vehicles, and livestock serve as evidence of successful implemented strategies. These findings highlight the importance of improving skills and education for poor tenant farmers to strengthen their economic resilience.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze learning styles and their varieties through diagnostic assessment to meet students' learning needs. The method used in this research is a descriptive quantitative method, with a sample of 27 8th-grade students at SMPN 9 Yogyakarta. The research instruments include the learning style questionnaire, observation, and interview. The results showed that students have three main learning styles, namely visual (40%), auditory (35%), and kinesthetic (25%). In addition, there are combinations of learning styles such as visual-auditory (18%), visual-kinesthetic (13%), and auditory-kinesthetic (13%). These findings suggest that learning approaches should be tailored to learners' individual learning preferences to enhance learning effectiveness. By implementing diagnostic assessments, teachers can design learning strategies that are more inclusive and better suited to learners' needs, thereby positively impacting their motivation and learning achievement.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the reorientation of solidarity values among Karang Taruna in sinoman activities in Dusun Demen in the era of Society 5.0. The background of this research is the shift in youth social interaction patterns due to technological developments which has led to decreased participation in community based activities. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach conducted in Dusun Demen. The subjects were selected using purposive sampling with three informants consisting of active and inactive members of Karang Taruna who were directly involved in sinoman activities. Data were collected through in depth semi structured interviews and supported by relevant literature. Data analysis was carried out using an interactive model which includes data reduction data display and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was ensured through source triangulation. The results show that sinoman activities still exist but have experienced changes in the form of participation and the role of youth. Youth involvement tends to decline due to work demands lifestyle changes and the influence of digitalization. Solidarity values have not disappeared but have shifted from collective practices to more personal and situational forms. Therefore a reorientation of solidarity values is needed through the integration of traditional values and the use of technology to remain relevant in the modern era.

Abstract

The massive developments of the times have encouraged the idea of protecting the younger generation from moral and character decay. To prevent this phenomenon, social studies (IPS) has emerged as an answer to concerns about moral and character decay. IPS is a field of study that aims to shape students into good citizens. This is implemented by all countries with their own policies. Indonesia and the Philippines are two countries that implement good citizenship as the goal of social studies education in their respective countries. Therefore, based on this background, the purpose of this article is to identify and compare the implementation of good citizenship in social studies education in Indonesia and the Philippines. The method used in writing this article is qualitative literature study research to analyze the comparison of the implementation of good citizenship in social studies education in Indonesia and Araling Panlipunan (AP) in the Philippines. The data was obtained through the stages of identification, data collection, analysis, interpretation, and refinement of the manuscript. The data was obtained through the stages of identification, data collection, analysis, interpretation, and refinement of the manuscript. The results of the study show that both countries implement good citizenship in social studies education, with Indonesia implementing it through the independent curriculum, while the Philippines implements it through the MATATAG Curriculum. The implementation of good citizenship in Indonesia is directed at the implementation of the Pancasila student profile, while in the Philippines it is directed at mastering civic engagement competencies. Keywords: Curicullum, Good citizenship, Social Studies, Araling Panlipunan.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the transformation of the livelihoods of the Talang Mamak community in Talang Sungai Ekok Village due to the expansion of oil palm plantations and forest degradation. Previous research has generally focused on adaptation strategies and policies, while the community’s lived experiences and their potential as a source of contextual social studies learning have rarely been examined. This study aims to analyze changes in the livelihoods of the Talang Mamak community and to identify their potential as a source of social studies learning. The study employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. Informants consist of village leaders, traditional leaders, and community members selected through snowball sampling until data saturation is reached. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation, using interview guidelines, observation sheets, and documentation notes as research instruments. Data analysis employed the Miles and Huberman interactive model, while data validity was ensured through triangulation. The results indicate that shifts in livelihoods occur dynamically due to environmental pressures and economic needs. Oil palm cultivation enhances income stability but also leads to environmental degradation and the erosion of local knowledge. These findings have the potential to serve as a source of contextual social studies learning that strengthens students’ understanding of social and environmental change.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the AIR (Auditory, Intellectually Repetition) learning model in enhancing students' cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning outcomes. The research employs an experimental approach using a pre-test and post-test design on selected student groups. Test results analyzed through the SPSS application indicate a significant improvement in learning outcomes before and after implementing the AIR model, with a significance value below 0.05. These findings suggest that the AIR model effectively enhances student learning. Additionally, an improvement in the psychomotor aspect was observed, as students demonstrated greater engagement when using the AIR model compared to traditional methods. Similarly, the affective aspect showed progress, as students exhibited responsibility in group settings by actively responding to teachers' questions. This reinforces the effectiveness of the AIR model in improving learning outcomes across cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains. However, students with a kinesthetic learning style may not fully benefit from this approach, necessitating adjustments to accommodate their needs. This research is expected to contribute to the development of learning strategies that align with educational objectives across different levels
